We're still a couple of months away from the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, but we might already have a few reveals locked in! There's a date as well - it's being suggested that this year's big event will fall on Sunday, June 9th.
This is according to a report from The Verge, which says it understands that a new Gears of War game is "currently" planned to be announced at the show - as was rumoured earlier this week. In addition, we'll apparently be getting release dates for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Another big reveal that's been mentioned by two outlets now - The Verge and Insider Gaming - is that a new Call of Duty (expected to be called "Black Ops Gulf War") will be present at the Xbox Showcase. However, the latter says this won't be the first time we'll see it, as it's expected to be revealed in a more "traditional fashion" prior to the event. Its appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase will likely take the form of a "deep dive" instead.
As for Activision Blizzard in general, Insider Gaming notes that Xbox is "gearing up for an announcement on its back catalog of games" in the near future, so perhaps we might get some exciting Game Pass reveals at the show too.
Obviously Xbox will have plenty more to highlight at the Xbox Games Showcase this June, but this sounds like a pretty great start so far! Let's hope for many more exciting surprises when the big event rolls around this summer...

It’s quite funny that these are the rumours given that:
1) i’m sure Microsoft said (ahead of the developer_direct) there would be a separate event for the ABK Gamepass additions
2) yea Avowed, IJ, and FS2024 are all due this year so makes complete sense to give them dates.
3) Gears 6 is very likely to be there given that the Coalition is one of the few that haven’t announced their games yet after years since the last release (along with id and Double Fine).

Why do people talk about a showcase that's a couple months away? I'm different. I only want to know about the games coming soon or out now, not what games will be showcased in a couple months.
I like to know more about this game and see if it's something I'd be interested in buying. I'll obviously watch the showcase when it's time, but no reason to know what they're going to show, if I have to wait 2 months to find out.
I'm looking forward to MS Flight Sim 24. I think it might be the only MS 1P game I am actually hyped for! I am curious about avowed and Indiana Jones but also sceptical based on the other releases since the start of the gen.
MS really excel at the simulation genre (Flight and Racing) though.

Just announce Gears of war Marcus Fenix collection and i am head over heels for the showcase. The other stiff seems fine and will live on GP and do well. But Gears of War collection is my game of the generation any console hands down. A Quake reboot wouldn’t hurt my feelings but i am sure ID is working on the next Doom game.

The fact that they’re planning on having a CoD deep dive this early is a really good sign. That’s if the rumored release period of October turns out to be true.
@CutchuSlow I mean, i like to know MS's plans for 2024. If I'm going to invest in a platform I'd like to know they have a solid lineup coming in the next several months. Obviously we have to live in the 'now' but to know the future plans of a company is not asking to much.
Gears 6 would be nice but I would also love a follow up to Gears tactics.

@CutchuSlow plus it’s often just trailers, which tell us nothing. Hype machine. I do appreciate release dates for stuff I think I’ll be playing tho, especially game pass stuff like avowed and Indy. Not that I have to play them day 1, but… might as well…

I’m hoping Xbox now they have many studios start releasing big AAA games throughout the year of 2025.
Traditional I find Xbox a last quarter of the year company games wise. Like Xbox is just for Christmas.
But it would be so much better if we had one big AAA starting say feb, may, august, nov.
Or even maybe an extra one in the last quarter as well.
So is there ever going to be any update on Perfect Dark or are they just going to keep announcing stuff and then never release it?

Besides Gears, it would be a great move to announce that all Activision Blizzard games will come to Game Pass. It would be a huge boost to the service.

@nomither6 thats what i would think also. Plus at this point it might be the only Gears game we get on Series, if Gears 6 really is closer to 2026 or 2027. Then it could launch on the newer hardware. So clearly it would make sense to have something for Gears fans. I am even hoping the collection comes out this year or the latest early 2025. Plus i want that new controller so we can hear the chainsaw in the controller.
@FatGuyInLilCoat You still have to wait 2 months to find out. I like to know what games they'd have coming out too. If it's a company telling you what to expect, it's fine. But if it's rumours, you're still unsure what to expect.
@Vipor007 ooh. I hope they let you stream and upload videos, direct to YouTube from the xbox. 1 of the reasons I was disappointed in xbox was coz I couldn't that.

@darylb24 Agreed! I’m also really hoping that with FS2024 the devs solve the problem of erratic download speeds (often crawling to a halt) of in-game downloadable content and updates.
@CutchuSlow Cause not everyone interested in the current set of title available on the market or one set to release, so people are ready for the next big event to see if more titles get announced that they’ll enjoy.
Avowed is the game I'm looking forward to, the most.
