Hogwarts Legacy was obviously a massive success for WB Games in 2023, but in terms of post-launch support, there wasn't really much to shout about. Hopefully that's about to change in 2024, as the team behind the game has revealed plans for a bunch of new content coming to Xbox (and beyond) at some point this year.
At the moment, it's just mentioned that "additional updates and features for the game" will be revealed in the coming months. The only bit of specific info is that all the PlayStation-exclusive content will be heading to Xbox in the summer.
Here's a look at the full message:
"As we near the one-year anniversary of Hogwarts Legacy, we wanted to let our community know that the Hogwarts Legacy PlayStation-exclusive content will be available on other platforms later this summer, along with additional updates and features for the game. Stay tuned in the coming months for more details on what’s coming to Hogwarts Legacy this year."
If you're wondering what that PlayStation-exclusive content is, there's a Haunted Hogsmeade Quest (you can see the video for that above), a Hogsmeade Shop of your own, a Shopkeeper Cosmetic Set and a Felix Felicis Potion Recipe.
It remains to be seen what else could be coming to Hogwarts Legacy in terms of new "features" this year, but obviously the hope for many fans will be a DLC expansion of some kind. It doesn't sound like anything like that's in the works based on this message, but it's not an impossibility. Hopefully we'll find out more in the near future!

Console exclusive content is the stupidest thing ever, if the price of the games are the same.
Unless exclusive content is give equally to all versions, such as the extra character in Soul Calibur 2.
Glad they’re bringing it over.
That mission was the most memorable in the game which is unusual for exclusive content. It was really great!
I need to go back and finish this game. I got pretty far, but it's been a bit. I think I'll wait for whatever they are working on and give it a go again then.
I'm playing this game now and loving it and I'm not a fan of Harry Potter at all
@Friendly I also don't quite get why exclusive content exists. Are significant numbers of people playing the game going to get one version over the other because of exclusive content? Many people won't even have multiple consoles so the choice won't be there in the first place, and of those who do, some won't even be aware of exclusive content (I wasn't until a few months after I bought the Xbox version and I didn't really care about it).
Logically, they do help drive sales to a certain platform because otherwise they wouldn't do it, but I don't see how.
@Timorteus That definitely makes me hate Sony more for pulling this crap.
I've long since finished the game, finished all side missions and got all the collectibles etc that I wanted - I did love it so I'll probably jump back in to do this mission but now I'll likely be overpowered for it yet also rusty.
Really wish I'd been strong enough to wait and not reward the publisher for this behaviour, but everyone I knew was playing it so I couldn't resist dammit
@Widey85 Guess you missed the 360 days where GTA IV's DLC was exclusive to 360 for ages before it appeared on PS3. MS are just as guilty as Sony for all these anti-consumer BS tactics.
@DennisReynolds That was ages ago, and at least Xbox had a reason for such deals - after the PS2 dominance they were the underdog going into the next generation.
Sony are already incredibly dominant - they don't need to do stuff like this, in many ways I've no idea how they get away with it given their combined PS4 and PS5 market share over Xbox as surely it would come close to abusing a monopoly position...
@Widey85 abusing a monopoly position, what securing some timed dlc ? Give me a break 😂
@DennisReynolds x360 is 12+ years ago.
@Mephisto2869 Exclusive stuff in general, as it's cheaper for Sony to do it given they only have to compensate for a small potential loss of sales from unhappy Xbox players than the other way around.
Obviously I'm exaggerating slightly at monopoly, but no one can deny Sony's install base is huge by comparison.
It's often not fun being on the Xbox side as we often miss out on games not being ported either due to Sony paying for exclusivity or our install base being too small, and when we do get them on some of the biggest games we get less content for the same price...
Ugh until summer to get that mission? Seriously now we’re talking about an 18-month exclusivity for a mission? Smh…
Excellent news. Will be playing it again.
I specifically bought this game on Xbox because Sony money hatted the exclusive content which left out Xbox, Switch and PC players. A multi platform release should not have exclusive content on just one platform and I don't care if the 360 did it 12 years ago. I am also glad Call of Duty is going to be the same for all players (not that I play it).
@Widey85 MS also blocked Persona 3/4 PS5 versions and fun fact MS have more gaming studios then Sony does far more. I wouldn't be shocked if Palworld is barred from PS5 for a while as well. MS do all the tricks Sony does and another fun fact the 360 dominated the PS3 most of that gen but then Don and his lacky Phil decided to crash and burn the Xbox brand.
@InsaneWade Stuff like this is why i rarely comment on here. MS can do no wrong, are underdogs and big bad Sony is evil according to these guys. Yeah exclusive DLC sucks but both Sony and MS are guilty of it.
@Friendly and???
@Widey85 @cburg I agree. Too bad Sony still pays in 2023-24 for exclusion deals to Warner and Square Enix, but we would also have issues with Activision and Zenimax supplies if they had not been acquired by Microsoft. It's like Sony was asking Microsoft to acquire each publisher if they wanted to get their games and DLC. That was completely stupid since Sony didn't need to do that and it backfired.
@DennisReynolds and that the world has changed. I can’t recall microsoft doing it this gen. I’d say Sony can and should follow suit.
Just focus on exclusive games and different experiences. Not timed exclusive dlc or early access passes.
@DennisReynolds PalWorld isn't, the creator has confirmed he's looking into a PlayStation version - it's that it's an Early Access release which PlayStation doesn't seem to allow.
Persona Xbox paid for ports so they got priority - in the same way P5R got a re-release for PS5 I imagine they'll arrive at some point.
The 360 was years ago - Sony are now completely dominant yet still have "you can release on anything but Xbox" clauses in contracts with publishers (as we found out during the ABK trials) but Xbox haven't had an exclusive DLC in the last two generations.
As for all the new studios, many will probably not be making exclusive content - MS appear to be adjusting their approach, so we'll see
@Widey85 Spot on. It's important to note that Sony abused its market dominance according to indies regarding positioning on the store and of course using their market share for paying relatively little to exclude one single platform: Xbox.
Even if Zenimax and ABK games are Xbox exclusives in the future, Sony has been paying them and other third parties for exclusive games and content for years and have not stopped, but I also believe that they would have tried to acquire ABK if they had the money to do so.
The crux is that for Microsoft was worth buying the publishers that were moneyhatted by Sony, considering that their market share would mean paying much more than Sony and also that they need to feed Game Pass in the long term with first-party games.
@Friendly Yeah MS just go super hard on timed deals, buying up Publishers and blocking PS5 versions of certain Gamepass games instead.
@DennisReynolds they both do that. Sony has more 3d party ánd 1st party (timed) exclusives than Microsoft.
But only one is now doing the annoying exclusive dlc and timed early access shenanigans.
Also, minecraft is on ps5. So are deathloop and ghostwire tokyo. Psychonauts 2. The Ori games. And also a lot of other games published by microsoft, such as mass effect. Which sony games are on xbox, other than mlb the show?
@Friendly When did Sony start the spending spree? Because Sony started going hard on spending after MS bought a lot of Devs and then Bethesda. Seriously why do people on here twist and make up facts?
This Gen MS has had way more timed 3rd party games then PS has and it even has more timed 3rd party games coming then PS5 has. Fun fact you know how Sony pays to keep games off Xbox? Yeah MS does that way more, the amount of games that release on Switch and Xbox but not on PS until a year or two later is amazing.
Fact is Sony and MS do the same things and always have, neither are angels but remember MS entered gaming by trying to gobble up Nintendo and if Phil could get his way they would try and do it again and we know that for a fact.
@DennisReynolds i agree that for most stuff they do the same things.
But one does the annoying dlc exclusivity and early access shenanigans (couple of days) and one doesn’t.
Could you provide me a few big 3d party games that have released on xbox but not on ps for a year? Do you mean stuff like grounded, warhammer or scorn? I can’t recall that many…
@DennisReynolds Time to go to another board. Your comments are nonsense and lack any rational thought due to your beloved box.
@Widey85 why have sides ,just own both
@Friendly Ark 2 and Stalker are timed. They haven't really gone after bug AAA games like Sony has but it doesn't really matter if its AA, AAA or Indie a timed exclusive is a timed exclusive. I mean there's that Warhammer MP game that is meant to be great, i really want to play it but i own Series S and its heavily gimped on there with a 30fps framerate and heavily reduced graphics so naturally i'm waiting for the PS5 version except of course who knows when that's coming due to the timed exclusivity. I'm not trying to defend Sony here it sucks FF7R is not on Xbox but i'm just saying both are guilty of doing the same things one way or another what i wish people here would just admit to and that's not aimed at you or anyone in particular its just the general vibe this site has in that Sony are scum and MS are saints.
@cburg Oh the irony.
@DennisReynolds i see what you mean and i understand. i had the same issue on pushsquare, where sony is Maria Theresa and Microsoft is equivalent to the devil. Maybe we should just not expect anything different on fan sites.
Still, I want Sony to get rid of stupid little stuff like timed exclusive dlc and early access passes. You pay the same price for both versions, why is there more stuff on one system compared to the other?
P.S. Stalker 2 and ark are not even out and in my opinion not on the same level as final fantasy vii, xiv and xvi and silent hill 2. Although I have very high hopes for Stalker 2. And indie wise ps5 has many timed exclusives: stray, solar ash, kena: bridge of spirits, Sifu…. Then there’s genshin impact, honkai star rails, granblue fantasy, valkyrie chronicles, stellar blade…. I think Sony has way more 3d party (timed) console exclusives than xbox. Maybe we can better compare the amount of games listed on xbox and on ps5 next?
@DennisReynolds That is a false equivalency. For every instance of 3rd party exclusivity for Xbox, there are five for PS. Higher frequency and higher profile games. Just start at 2024 (FFVII Rebirth, Rise of Ronin, Stellar Blade, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Foamstars, etc.), then review 2023, and so on.
Xbox 360 launched a year earlier PS2, to its benefit. It was a great system that was able to secure great third party support because of it. Have you forgotten the 3rd party support disparity between PS2 and OG Xbox? No GTA3, Vice City timed exclusivity for PS2, no EA support...the list goes on.
