GAMEPLAY
- Numerous improvements to default Aim-Assist and Dead Zone tuning, and more options for players to customize these settings for both Controller and Keyboard/Mouse.
- Arkane Recommendations:
- For fast paced multiplayer FPS fans – Check out Medium, High, or Linear Input Response Presets as they tend to feel faster and more responsive overall.
- For slower single player FPS fans – Check out Default, Low, or Medium Input Response Presets as the slower response curves tend to feel like you have a little more precision over your aim.
- Increasing/decreasing your Controller Sensitivity from the Input Response Presets default value will directly increase/decrease your overall left/right turning speeds.
- For players who turn up their Controller Sensitivity, consider trying out Default/Strong/Very Strong Aim Assist Strength and ADS Snap Strength if you would like that assistance.
- For players who turn down their Controller Sensitivity, try Very Weak/Weak/Default Aim Assist Strength and ADS Snap Strength presets to prevent it from feeling like you are fighting for control over your aim.
- Tinkering with the Input Response Preset setting is a great first step to help you find the controller settings that work best for you.
- Arkane Recommendations:
- During the Settling In mission, Anna Creelman will now fill the player’s pistol, shotgun, and assault rifle ammunition.
- Added new Vampire Nest spawns to Old Town and Sedgewick neighborhoods.
- Added a tutorial blade and Archive entry for Psychic Residue.
- Remi's C4 no longer remains in the world after exploding.

Spare a thought for @Kezelpaso who just had to scrap an entire feature about the lack of 60FPS update for Redfall 😅
I'm glad the game wasn't abandoned, I enjoyed it when it didn't completely explode from the bugs. Just hope going forward we no longer see these types of releases from MS. Looking forward to jumping back in, need to find some time between Starfield / Forza and Darktide
I might give it another shot now that it isn't locked the the horribly paced 30fps it had.
Properly paces 30fps isn't bad. But man Redfall was nauseating. And that comes from someone that doesn't get VR sickness in the least.
That's a lot of bug fixes. Still not seeing the improvements to AI or the group-finder system.
The copy of Redfall I sold to my local CeX back in May for £40 was still there and available for £20. Just bought it back, I guess now is the time to give it a go 😁
Definitely playing this again.
I played and beat the game at around 35 hours. I liked the art style and what they were trying to create but as we all know it was lacking in execution. I said to myself this game needs 2-3 BIG patches and i would replay it cause there is a game under all the mess that i actually like. This is update 2, i think after the next big update i will redownload it and try a new character. I am missing 8-9 achievements. But i think most of those are co-op
If only they would have pushed this game back to Halloween...
@all3forever Great point. Never thought of that. Would have had more time to have all these updates and of course been the spooky vampire game for the season. Excellent idea, too bad they didn’t.
Definitely adding this back to the long, long, long backlog! 😃
@InterceptorAlpha I thought the 30fps would annoy me compared to 60 but I didn’t even notice it playing this.
@HonestHick @all3forever they couldn’t push it back with both FM and Starfield pushed back to Sept/Oct.
Redfall was a sacrificial lamb for MS to get a first party game out. It needed a delay no questions on that but I don’t think they could take more delays.
What’s the performance mode details please someone. FPS, resolution etc.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner i Agee, in a perfect world this one needed to be delayed, but they came off a rough 2022 so they needed a title out. Again i know people hate on the game and for valid reasons. I just found me enjoying it when it worked well and some parts of the game really worked well for me. But when it went bad it sure went bad. I will wait to play it once there is one more big update and the DLC if that ever see’s light of day. I love loot games. So i give a little more grace to that genre than others. I am sitting at around 540 hours on Diablo 4 and still grinding before season 2 launches on October 17th. Diablo is my favorite all time game series, so i am a little more patience with its growing pains as well.
played and competed Redfall about 13 hours didnt have any bugs 60fps wasnt a problem the games movement is very fast
good game didnt deserve the hate 7/10
Nice that it hasn't been abandoned...I thought the hate was over the top...was it a great game ...hmm nope especially given the developer ...but it was okay..I played through and completed it solo and have no desire to return ...hope Arkane stick to single player in the future
he haw! just in time to be game of the year!
"Will you be playing it again?"
Again?
Might actually try it for the first time!
Too many big games released in a mess. I tend to wait for the inevitable updates that fixes the major issues. Got a backlog of too many great games yet to play, to be wasting time playing frustrating, unfinished, released too early, fodder.
This looks great! I'm excited to try it out now.
Did they add matchmaking? Quit at launch because there was no way to play with strangers and none of my friends would spare this game a thought
@PsBoxSwitchOwner I know but I still think it was a terrible move. Game died on arrival and even Phil had to apologize.
I enjoyed my time with the game. Some of the bugs had my friend and I rolling. We called it Llaf der or laughter. Didn’t do any end game. Might go back with a map.
"Weapons with silencers, or silenced muzzle attachments, now reflect their "silent" state in tooltips.
Silenced weapons generate less noise, and are less likely to alert nearby enemies."
Before, you wouldn't know a weapon was silenced until you equipped it. Then you had to remember not to sell/trash it.
@trev666 Thirteen hours? That's fast! I beat it in about 40-45 hours. Then again, the playtime clock was also bugged. 😄
The game had many issues, and some will remain after this. The were some parts that were fun, especially some of the latter battles. The bosses need a re-work, along with the character models. There were so many glaring QoL issues, too. The asinine weapon cycling and "I welcome oblivion" snails-pace reloading in combat come to mind.
@Moonglow MS/Xbox has provided 93% of the game news traffic this year. There is definitely inherent and deliberate bias against them. Could be some of the people are not even fully aware of it in themselves. They think it is normal that PS gets exclusives whether Sony develops them or not. Maybe they have a point, because that has carried them this far. 😄
Ah I see tinfoil hats are in need again.
@FatalBubbles 30fos is normally not an issue with a game that has good frame pacing like Starfield.
Redfall's pacing was all over the place though resulting in inconsistent and messy frames. Not even LFC could help it
when there was a bit of bad PR in pre-release when it became apparent this was always online they made some comments about making single player off line and there has never been any mention of it ever again.
guessing that was just bolloxs
Glad Arkane is sticking with it! I hope now that a Performance Mode has been figured out and released, Arkane can focus on making some polish changes in an effort to bring the game up to expectations.
I really enjoyed Redfall and have yet to finish it. It wasn't without fault, but I found it fun and engaging. I'm thinking this update is a good time to dive in for a few missions!
Next up performance mode for Starfield then we are home and dry finally.
Shouldn’t be this way thought not from in house studios.
I mean look what modes spider man 2 is releasing with including ray tracing.
Though I do extremely sympathise with Xbox studios having to deal with developing for so many platforms all at once, series s and series x and PC and anything to do with cloud.
I know some third parties do it but Sony and Nintendos own in house teams get to just focus on one simple platform and I think that’s the development difference and that separates top Sony and Nintendo games to Xbox top games and how they get that better overall quality and finished game overall.
And to carry on my rant from above.
If Xbox in house studios only had the series x and nothing else to develop for like Sony and Nintendo do then they would produce in house quality AAA games good as the other two.
Xbox studios are far to stretched with to many platforms to produce a game for.
@InterceptorAlpha Sorry to hear that. While it wasn’t a high quality game I still enjoyed my time with it. Can definitely see the framework for a good game that got screwed up with co-op nonsense.
Since I have a 3 day weekend (thanks Columbus) I might at least throw an hour or two into this and see how it is. I already had it rated around a 7, if this can push it to what I consider an 8+ i might give it another full playthrough.
Literally who cares?
I've completed it when it came out at about 25 hours and I think I'll go back to it to run it on another character. The frustrating thing is there is no matchmaking even still with the co-op, as I'd like to get the co op achievements
@Moonglow
Good game??? How so? I played it two weeks ago to break up the Starfield binging.
Even after the 1st patch I was beyond sad at how bad the game was. I'm hoping they do 1 more big patch.
@BacklogBrad Get a real job!! Silly bank and gov holidays....
The bugs aside from launch, after patch 2 the game was quite fun. I played all the way thru and thoroughly enjoyed it. I wasn't a fan of the "art" style graphics but it was surprisingly entertaining.
I look forward to going back thru on hard mode now.
@theduckofdeath Maybe I'm biased and don't realize it, but reading all the sister sites, IGN, PC GAMER.... it sure seems like diehard xbox fans are a lot louder and spend more time worrying abouts PS fans, at least I seem to see posts like yours far more often.
We don't count Nindy fans because they're insane
@CallMeDuraSouka it evens out. We don't get any of the eve of holidays, black Friday, etc.
@CallMeDuraSouka Hmm, what is the name of this site? 🤔😄
I heavily disagree with you on that one. On IGN at least — that site is riddle with Sony "fanboys" (a little too polite of a term). I'm talking about on Xbox articles. Go check the "Redfall Update" article over there. I rarely even click on PS articles or read the comments there, unless it is a game of interest. They come to this site, too.
@dreadful more people than you would actually think. Some of us myself included like the art style and the game itself minus it left the oven undercooked.
@all3forever I guess they still might. At least this way they can probably get the first bug fix out for the new version before actual Halloween
Gee, didn't I read today or yesterday that players on Steam were into single figures - literally six people trying to play A4 player multiplayer game? I haven't been on game pass for the past year and hope that the player numbers are higher than on Steam.
Half guessing that if the bugs had been ironed out before release, and maybe Microsoft taking more care of the property as they alluded to (if I'm wording that correctly), then maybe it would not be in the state that it is in at the minute...
On saying that, well done to the development team for updates. Have to remember that Microsoft is not Sony, and does not give up easily on anything that may have had a bad start.
When I get back to joining game pass, once I get a job lol, then redfall is on my list !
Have 30+ hours on Redfall. Finished the game back when it released. Started a new campaign today on performance mode. I love Redfall, 30fps wasn't an issue for me, but 60fps feels great.
@eduscxbox haven’t played it since launch. Hope you don’t mind if i ask a few questions, seems like an obvious one but does the 60fps really make it feel better? Seems like it would. Does the game play and look any better? Big one for me is is the AI improved? I think that was the worst part of it for me at launch the AI was beyond bad. If they do another patch or two at this size, i would think the game would be in a really good state to play.
Nice will probably re install and give it a go
Too little too late.
Anyone want a bet against me, the below is my Xbox future prediction, UNFORTUNATELY.
Unfortunately it’s the way Microsoft are with Xbox and the route they have gone down.
I’ve seen spider man 2 and Mario Wonder getting hyped and adverts on UK main stream TV and both have events coming up as well in the USA, Xbox home territory.
Both have undertaken big console promotions this year reducing console prices or special bundles.
Xbox series x is currently the most expensive console, you can buy a PS5 disc with FC24 for £410 right this minute.
If Xbox doesn’t change it will fade and die console wise and I think we will see the games on PS5 or PS6 or Switch 2 actually made for them not cloud based. Cloud is going nowhere for ages yet.
Maybe they will retract back into the PC market only.
I believe game pass subscriptions are drying up as well and stagnant.
The only hope is buying up big studios, but the Bethesda purchase has done nothing for them and the same with Redfall and Starfield.
I think when they get Activision they will start an internal plan to expand to other consoles not gamepass but like a third party developer.
If Microsoft stay as they are with Xbox they are and will slowly kill the brand off and what is left of it.
Played it on 60fps tonight on my Series X, what a difference it makes to exploring the world. The visuals have definitely improved despite the double frame rate, especially the lighting at night. I would have been very happy if it released in this state, there are a lot of gameplay improvements, it is definitely better. In my opinion if it was reviewed in its current state it would be a 8/10. Much better, but it’s just a shame it generated so much bad press due to how it was released. If we would have been great to release Redfall in its current state, Starfield and Forza in the closing months of the year.
I'd be tempted to actually play it now, but I'm playing Starfield, and there's plenty other games on GP and in my library that are certified bangers I've not tried so I doubt I'll ever play it.
With so many fantastic options out there there's no reason to settle for a medium quality game.
@HonestHick Hi, sorry for my late response. Yes, 60fps feels smoother and AI is definitely better.
I didn't had huge issues with AI at launch, but sometimes they definitely acted dumb and this seems to have improved.
Also, gunplay improved, the feeling of the weapons got better and some graphics bugs were fixed.
Overall is a better experience.
@OldGamer999 Well, guess that prediction didn't age well.
The one closing studios, canceling games, firing CEO and laying off devs left and right is Sony.
Starfield is a Player and Comercial success with more than 10 million players in just a couple days.
Xbox Game Pass has increased numbers with Starfield being responsible for the most subscriptions in a launch period ever for the service.
Cloud is not going to take ages, it is already here and works just fine. Xbox Cloud Gaming is a great example of how cloud gaming should work, it is not it'll take ages, it is just sony is ages behind in that field.
Xbox brand is doing just fine, actually it is better than ever, and with Activision on board it will go even further.
@eduscxbox
Let’s hope so, as competition is definitely needed in the gaming industry.
I do like my series x I just think Xbox could managed their studios a lot better and been more focused.
I.e Starfield could have been much better than it is, I’ve put about 25 hours plus into the game and it could have been so more modernised and had better systems in place. And a lot less loading and shorter loading times for a start.
@eduscxbox it’s way way better. I ain’t saying it’s a great must play AAA for all players but i find it fun and again i am a little more bias cause i love looter shooters. Happy to see it improve. Had it of launched in this state i think it could have gotten 7’s.
