It's been announced today that the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 will be coming to Xbox Series X and Series S this October, and in even better news, we've got confirmation that MGS 1, 2 and 3 will also be available separately!
If you want the full collection, you're looking at a price of $59.99, but those who want to buy just one of the titles will only need to pay $19.99. This is particularly great news if you already own Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 as part of the Xbox 360 HD collection, as you'll be able to just pick up the first Metal Gear Solid at a cheaper price!
"Fans can also purchase Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as stand-alone digital titles separate from the collection for €19.99 SRP. Regional versions of these titles will also be available as digital downloads at no additional cost."
Pre-orders for the full Master Collection will begin later today, with the pre-order bonus being a "limited digital soundtrack containing newly recorded, orchestral renditions of the iconic themes from the Metal Gear Solid series".

Physical release???
I'll likely be picking the whole collection despite owning the old HD versions of 2 and 3. Love BC, but will always prefer native versions due to multiple nuances of BC, like achievement tracking and BC titles not being designed to be in the background (making quick resume fail very often).
@Nintendo4Sonic
yes, although the Nintendo Switch version is basically just 2gb in cart and you got to download basically everything (total download is 24.1gb)
@FraserG not for my use since I plan to buy the whole collection, but do we know if the 2D games are also going to be listed separately, as a mini bundle, or only available under the collection?
YES! I already have 2 and 3, so this has made my day
@Tharsman Nothing is mentioned about this in the press release we received, so I assume they're collection only...?
@FraserG @Tharsman I don't know, but maybe the older games will be attached to some of the games, like they did on the HD Collection? Some of the older titles were on MGS3, IIRC.
It will be great if they have it on a mini-bundle, though.
It would be a dream come true if Silent Hill 1 gets ported
I’ve never played Metal Gear Solid. Only watched a Let’s Play before and it looks cool so would probably get the first one to be honest.
I still have my physical 360 version.
Now regarding MGS 1, it's not even a "remaster" with HD texture....
Sorry but I still have my MGS 1 PSX version.... I won't buy it ... again.
it will "strange" for newcomers to understand the fight with Psycho Mantis : He can read your mind (LOL) !
I still remember How to beat him but we are not playing on the old grey Playstation ...
A bit brazen to run with that RRP, as much as i love these games Konami are making it difficult to jump on board.
$20 for a 25 years old game? No thanks.
If I didn’t own them all on their original consoles I’d say this was utter bs that Xbox gets more choice than PlayStation. They are originally PlayStation exclusives.
Oh thank goodness. I saw that 60$ price tag and started cramping. 20$ for the one I want, yes plz. Already have the others on the HD collection anyway.
£50?? Crazy pricing. I got these games digitally in one of the last PS3 PSN sales a few years back for around £10 total. Even at full price back then they weren’t this expensive. They’re simple remasters/ports.
@47AlphaTango Some were NES exclusives...
@Kaloudz Same. I'll probably start with 3 and see if I want to invest further.
Will it also have the metal gear classic games that I saw on Nintendo direct?
@Solidchief I would really love that. That and fixing the fog and other things in the HD Collection.
Are these remasters, ports or emulation? I have The Twin Snakes on GC/Wii (1 Remake) and 2 and 3 in 720p on Xbox. So, I already have the big games of the collection. That means that I'd only pay full price if they were better.
@Scummbuddy One was.
The single best news I heard about this is the MSX versions. Love those games
@Kaloudz Yeah, SH Collection was such a blunder. I hope the SH2 remake is good and does well because that might leave the door open for an SH3 remake, the one I wish to see remade most.
By the way, it just came to me that Konami removed the MGS collection that was on Xbox from digital sale over some copyrighted historical footage or something. I had wondered if there was more to the story, and it seems like there is with this new remaster collection. I wonder what the differences will be between the 360 remasters and these upcoming ones. Perhaps 4K and higher framerates.
@Scummbuddy 99% of people are buying this for MGS 1-3.
