So far I'm really enjoying it. But there are two things in sports games that can really take you out of the moment... Crowds and Commentary.
The commentary is good, but there are moments where they will go wild for a simple shot that the CPU player did, but say nothing to my far better shot. Also, the crowd reacting weird is another. On one occasion, I noticed some of the crowd facing the opposite way, clapping, or their feet buried in the ground.
It just takes you out of the moment...
I love the deep character RPG elements. Microtransactions feel very minimal. Very good course selection. Gameplay still feels off until they add that 3-click swing they promised. I have seen some graphical bugs like pop in and red sparkles on faces. But it feels like the core is good and worth my time.
I played the newest MLB on Gamepass and though it was fun they really have been stagnant on graphical innovations. The characters look all the same and don't really emote. Also clothing doesn't move realistically
Played 18 holes at Sawgrass for old times sake. This has come a LONG way since the last EA PGA Tour release which was Rory McIlroy PGA Tour way back in 2015. It looks stunning the presentation is mostly great. Biggest thing I noticed though was no load times! I remember having to wait for ages for each hole to load.
My only complaint is the blue PGA Tour logo / swash screen that they use to hide any loads or transitions is too frequent. You see it about 50 times a round, could get tiresome fast.
Still super impressed. Managed a 9 under par round, not bad for just dusting off the clubs for the first time in 7 or 8 years lol. Also got a hole in one on 14, the heartbeat shots are still there and the bonus was 90 Gamerscore. I didn't even realise you COULD get Gamerscore off the trials. Gotta say i'm impressed.
I played a round on Pebble Beach and thought it was pretty good. Visuals are great despite some minor glitches. Character models look good but some of the face animations seemed so off. The presentation and commentary is leagues better than 2K's effort.
Once they add the button swing option and fix some of the visual bugs I'll probably be playing this all the time!
Anyone who has played both golf games...which do you think is better ?
I've just started playing PGA 2K23 (cos it was cheap). Haven't played a golf game since Rory McIlroy. I think I may have to look out for a good deal on PGA Masters as I prefer the EA gameplay.
EDIT: Found the free trial now..installing to compare.
