So far this week, things have been eerily quiet on the Redfall front, at least directly from Xbox or Bethesda. Sure, we've seen a new dynamic background hit Xbox Series consoles, but the game still isn't ready to preload yet, and we've seen no signs of a launch trailer or anything of the sort - at least at the time of writing.
We have been treated to a chunk of fresh new gameplay though, courtesy of IGN, and that's got us quite excited for Redfall's Xbox Game Pass launch next week. We always appreciate seeing proper uncut footage, and Redfall looks like it's going to provide lots of variety across its solo and co-op modes.
This new gameplay has reminded us that despite the negativity surrounding the lack of a launch day 60FPS mode, we're still really looking forward to playing a brand-new Arkane game next week! This is a studio that rarely misses, and although Redfall looks like a bit of a different type of game for the team, it still oozes Arkane energy.
From its vampiric theme and spooky small-town setting to its arsenal of weaponry and character abilities, Redfall still feels very much like an Arkane title. We're getting co-op here as an option, but as long as solo play holds up, we'll be suitably satisfied with Redfall.
It's been quite tough in recent weeks to gauge how fans are feeling about Redfall, so we want to check in with you guys to see how excited you all are. Are you fine folks still hyped for it? Will you be jumping in on day one?
Vote in the poll down below and be sure to let us know what you're most excited about experiencing!
Are You Excited To Play Redfall On Game Pass? (2,585 votes)
- Yep, been hyped since they first announced the game!
- I'm pretty excited yeah, new Arkane is always good
- I'm cautiously optimistic, but will be waiting for reviews before playing
- Meh, the lack of 60FPS has really dampened my excitement for Redfall
- I was never bothered about Redfall in the first place. Pass!

As someone who mainly plays solo I have reservations, but it’s on GamePass so have nothing to lose!
I'm not so sure this is going to be the AAA we all wanted, and the lack of 60hz does bother me.
However, game pass means we can all try it without risking anything and I am hopeful its better than initial reports would suggest and ends up being a great game. Sometimes reality squashes hope, but not long now till we can find out - fingers crossed.
I was going to download it Day 1 but I'm gonna skip it until the 60fps update drops. A real bummer for me personally that it's releasing like that, as I was really looking forward to another arkane game.
Eh, I'm more excited for the performance mode release date. I'll be playing Redfall once 60fps comes out.
I will play on PC at launch. Xbox will have to wait for the performance patch.
The whole thing feels underwhelming to me. Fingers crossed for blown minds but probably not happening
Totally excited to play it and previews I’ve read have all been positive. Would have liked the 60 FPS but that isn’t going to stop me from enjoying it!
Arkane rocks!!!
Will be playing Day 1, regardless of anything, to try it out.
I'm on PC so the 30fps situation isn't a concern, but I've never been that hyped for Redfall. I'll end up playing it because my wife likes to play co-op shooters (we're currently going through Halo Infinite) and has expressed an interest.
I've just never liked an Arkane game, so I'm passing as I doubt this will be any different. However, hopefully it turns out solid and the everyone else looking forward to it enjoys it.
I'm subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate so I might as well play it
With the amount of games I want in may plus the ones im already playing I may have to skip this at launch. Unless the Reviews are something special to convince me otherwise.
Excited for when the performance patch releases
Will be waiting for 60fps so hopefully it's not too long of a wait!
I'm ready and waiting. Thought about requesting day off. But might have usual live service issues. Not worth the chance.
I'm still looking forward to it I'm just worried it won't be a good single player experience hope I'm wrong.
Yes!! Would love to play it at 60fps, but will play at 30fps regardless. Game looks great!
I can wait until the 60 fps patch. I’m sorry but I didn’t invest in a series X and a gaming monitor to be playing a shooter title in 2023 at 30 fps. Some of us care about that stuff and can actually see and feel the difference.
60fps kinda ruins it, I'd play it on my pc but don't trust it to be faultless either.
Other; can i actually play it single player
Id also add after greatly enjoying Deathloop (for as much as i could play) it's repeated crashes/freezing and loss of progress so bad i ditched the game i was loving i have little faith in arkane delivering a game that isn't broken and if they'll ever fix it. Its left my soured
Pre installed, ready for next week!
I'm still excited for this, as long as single player is viable - and I haven't seen anything to say it isn't. I didn't enjoy Deathloop really so I'm hoping this doesn't disappoint.
No longer that interested at 30 FPS. Sad because it was one that I was really looking forward to.
The 30fps thing and host only co-op progression have definitely lowered the excitement levels but I’m still hopeful it will be a good game. It’s always fun diving into a new Arkane world.
@Clankylad
Lying about 60fps would’ve made the whole situation a thousand times worse. Luckily they’re smarter than that.
@FenIsMightier I mean, was Arkane ever really a big deal before the buy out? Not that their games weren't of quality with their own fan base, but they never really moved mountains in the market. I think they've just been thrust into the spotlight because they're now 1st party and under the microscope of the console war. I kinda feel bad for them, in that regard. Their lives probably used to be pretty peaceful. Lol
Me, personally... I bought Sam & Max Save the World Remastered on PC for a buck fifty. I'm gonna be playing some Sam & Max and Fire Emblem instead.
Just that much closer to Starfield.
It doesn’t look like my cup of tea, but I’ll probably check it out at some point (assuming I can clear room on the Series X).
@grumpypotato Sadly, I completely agree.
Going over the number of negative comments on this thread, I kind of hope they deliver. It's really not for me (I believe I have been scared and worn out of zombies and vampires for life), but everybody has already moved away from this game, weeks before release.
I can't say I've ever been hugely excited about this game but I'll be giving it a go on my PC where I'm sure 60fps and above won't be any problem
I’ve uninstalled the pre-download but will happily download and play the game when the performance patch arrives. Hope those that aren’t affected by 30fps enjoy a fantastic game next week.
I’m gonna try it day 1…I can’t say I’m excited for it though - there’s no buzz created by MS for it and what attention it has had has been excitement dampening for sure…and that’s a polite way to put it.
I feel it being released unfinished, after a year delay, is going to reflect in the reviews. And we’ve still no knowledge of when it will be finished…could be weeks, could be years… who knows. But the trouble with these games hitting subs day 1 is it’s gonna be hard for this to get a second chance…unless MS have nothing big for gamepass till September, anyway
@BrilliantBill Right, they've always been quality games, and surely sold at least a two or three million copies, I would think. However, I feel like they're now just being flung onto this wild stage where exposure and expectations are now astronomical because it's first party now. When this game started development, these folks never could have seen this coming.
I'm a pretty hardcore BGS fan. I love Todd and the sweet lies he tells me. I can't get over the people dogging the Starfield graphics. It's just like you said, Skyrim was nothing breathtaking to look at. However, it was absolutely a blast to play. Would it really be an official Toddy if it weren't held together with duct tape and bubblegum?
Don’t think I’ll squeeze it between Jedi Survivor and Tears of the Kingdom. Maybe after I’m done with both of those
I am going to play day one. The is to play on PC. I while fire up the Xbox version to evaluate the impact and execution (locked & steady? well-paced frames?) of the 30-fps quality mode.
Maybe on Steamdeck. I'm tired of the console taxes.
@Casco I keep forgetting about Jedi Survivor and I already purchased it on PC. I jump around and mix up the games I'm playing from day to day, so it is not an issue. No rush to power through anything. NTM, I recently completed Fallen Order.
@GeeEssEff I wonder about the impetus for the host-only coop progression. We know that Arkane games are typically single player with fleshed out worlds and charismatic enemy characters. I believe Arkane stated that there is no matchmaking, either. You need friends or LFG. So maybe they really want each player to experience the story, as is the usual.
30fps is a big letdown so I will skip it. I think it is a huge mistake not having 60fps performance mode at launch and it will show. Whoever thought this was acceptable is an idiot.
I'll wait until later but i just never play anything day one. Extra incentive here as it kinda feels like it's coming in a bit hot. Still gonna make my buddies play 3 player co-op.... just after a few patches
@theduckofdeath For real, no matchmaking aswell?! Yikes. When you’re a gamer in your 30’s chances are you and your friends have family and work commitments so getting a squad of two together regularly is hard enough, let alone four. I often rely on matchmaking for times I can’t play with friends so this is yet another disappointing bit of news just before release.
Should be a another poll…
If we could trust people to be honest. Would you be buying this day one if it wasn’t on GPU. I suspect most would answer no.
Might as well try it as its on GamePass but I’ll probably wait to play the whole game until the 60 fps patch arrives since I think this is the kind of game that needs it, but if I’m wrong I’ll happily play it at release. I do hope the patch comes sooner rather than later though so the playerbase hasnt already moved on to other games (if 30 fps makes it hard to enjoy. It really needs to be a flawless 30 fps imo)
Definitely giving co-op a go once the 60fps patch drops.
I'll definitely play it, but for some reason, I have a feeling that it's not going to be that great. Microsoft's track record for exclusives has not been that good. And all the previews indicate that it's not great. I really hope that I'm wrong. Not sure why it's not launching with 60fps. Kind of pathetic at this point on Microsoft's part. And I really do not care what it takes to make it 60fps. Just get it done. And get rid of Phil. He's a nice guy, but good intentions just doesn't cut it. He's obviously not getting the job done.
I'm looking forward to checking it out. I have not been watching the trailers, because I kind of like to be surprised and gamepass lets me do that risk free. So not positive it will be for me, but I like what little I have seen and heard so far
@grumpypotato lots of PS5 and Series X games will be pushing 30FPS until the pro models hit. Just wait until bigger games come out on UE5, no way they will all be 60 FPS. But thats console gaming for you, $500 dollar boxes in years 3-4 of dev cycles won’t hit 60 on every game. This is why i was saying i think we need Pro models for the extra power, i will buy a PS5 and Series X Pro day one to have extra frames and some better ray tracing.
Its on Gamepass so i have zero reason not to at least try it but the 30fps and the gameplay shown recently hasn't exactly made me excited. Between Deathloop and now this it seems Arkane have lost their magic sadly.
@Green-Bandit I doubt the Pro consoles are coming and the PS5/Series X have barely even shown what they're capable off. Redfall, Plague Tale and Gotham Knight not being 60fps is a Dev issue not console. I mean come on have you seen what FF16 is doing? That's beyond anything else this Gen and is the most "next gen" out there so far and that will have a 60fps option. Look at Forza this year it be 4K/60fps plus RT on top of that on Series X and then you Spider-Man 2 coming that if Ratchet and Clank is anything to go by will have a 60fps/RT mode and maybe a 120HZ mode. Jedi Survivor a current gen only game is also 60fps as well. Gotham Knights and Redfall are not demanding games and there's no reason they shouldn't be 60fps.
I'll be waiting for the 60 FPS patch added later on..
@WallyWest i don’t disagree with that other than PS5 Pro is all but confirmed, Jeff Grub and others said it’s looking like 2024. But RedFall is going to be 60 FPS just not day one. I am looking at say Hellblade 2 and others using UE5 and pushing it to its limits, I think we will see 30FPS there from game to game. Sony games tend to use proprietary engines and they are doing well with getting good performances, I agree with you there. Forza tech is also really impressive and it’s a racer so i see no reason not to be 60, my point is UE5 is going to push these consoles hard and thats without ray tracing. It’s rumored the PS5 Pro will be almost double the base unit in power, if that turns out to be true, that will ensure quality performance if the dev’s put in the work and time.
@Romans12 Agreed. The Series X is a good and competitive console unlike the Xbox One but two years in and the software story remains the same with Microsoft.
Ill be playing the 128fps xbox series s version day 1, you all can wait your dirty 60 fps 3 weeks later patch.
@Green-Bandit
i don’t disagree with that other than PS5 Pro is all but confirmed, Jeff Grub and others said it’s looking like 2024
Would that be the same Jeff Grubb that back paddled on the HI-FI Rush story last week 😅?
Sony are indeed looking into a new PS5 sku with the ability to have a removable/attachable disc drive, thus eliminating the need for a digital only PS5 they have at present.
I read an article on Eurogamer a few months back on that, however there were zero mentions on updated specs for this new PS5 model. It makes sense given the global economic outlook and components shortages...
This was a day 1 for me but I'll wait till 60fps before I jump in. Plenty of other games to play until that's sorted so I'll sit back and wait patiently.
I’m a bit bummed I bought a Series X in February. So far it’s eating dust while I’m mainly playing on my PS5. Starfield is the main reason I wanted one, together with other big day one releases on GP such as Redfall and Forza Motorsport. As someone who only plays single player (don’t even have or want friends on my consoles) I really do hope the single player mode of Redfall will be very good.
@Nightcrawler71 same for me here, but it doesn't hurt giving a try right? Could be good fun.
I'm going to come back to it and check it out but I'm deep in RE4 and tears of the kingdom is round the corner. Hope its a sleeper hit and interested to see what coop in an arkane world looks like.
I'm excited for Redfall but will be waiting for 60fps.
It's a shooter, 30fps isn't good enough.
Not bothered about frame rate.ive been playing games for about 45 years if a games good it's good who cares what frame rate
@Sol4ris PS5 Pro has a ton of leaks outside of Jeff, tho Jeff has a decent track record considering you can’t be 100% in that line of work. It makes sense we will continue to see a base and Premium line of consoles. I have a PS5 Pro as a 90% sure thing based off the leaks and rumors of hardware, but first up for 2023 will be the Slim PS5 with a optional disk drive sold separately, and as a digital only fan i like that approach, Digital is more and more the normal for lots of gamers and those that want a disc drive can purchase it separately and continue to enjoy physical, so seems like a win for the manufacturer and consumer. The bigger news on my mind is the ABK deal being blocked, if MS doesn’t get this deal done it’s a hit to GP, as COD on GP was going to be a marketing power move for Xbox in North America alone. Without it i question if MS has enough titles to keep up with Sony and that stinks for competition.
@Green-Bandit I don't belive these rumours. The PS5 is already a luxury console at a premium so a Pro is what $600-$700 a price that would kill it.
As for Unreal 5 well other then Fortnite that runs great on console and that Matrix tech demo we don't actually know how well it runs on consoles but we do know Epic made it with these consoles in mind.
@WallyWest PS5 is a luxury item that in the month of March sold 2 million units, that would be a good holiday number, but a March. So it’s sell just fine, plus the Pro model at $500-$600 is the luxury cause common gamers and kids won’t buy it. Much like they didn’t with the PS4 Pro. The rumors are hinting at a small price reduction the on the PS5 slim and i have seen one or two outlets say the Pro could be $550 or so but be double power of the base, so it will be interesting to see what that does in 2024. Things can change a lot between now and then. All engines are built with console in mind, but that don’t mean devs ideas and visions are capped at 30FPS. A pro model would make sure they can hit that mark and add extra bells and whistles and it seems like that is what they are aiming for. Ready for something really stupid, it was leaked Sony wants the PS5 pro to hit 8K, yes the same 8K no one barely owns a TV nor a monitor for. So that one made me scratch my head a little. Interesting times ahead, but again i would buy a Pro Xbox and PS on day one no questions, but they are made for my wants and needs not the average gamers. I am the kind of guy that if Xbox built a $800 dollar console that could peak ultra settings like a PC i would buy it, cause i want PC power but in the form of a console. I am a Apple computer users and have no interest in PC or windows. But want my games to run PC specs.
I'm intrigued by it but don't have high hopes. Not bothered about the lack of 60fps. Spent most of my gaming life in 30fps. I think it will be a bit like B4B. Old school co-op with a few new features and story but nothing exceptional. Obviously I will play it as it's on game pass but I will say it lasts a couple of months then player base will rapidly full except the hardcore fans.
I'm more hyped for The Last Case of Benedict Fox tomorrow.
@Green-Bandit Just remember Bloomberg reported the Switch Pro was a thing. Honestly i don't believe leaks and rumours on consoles because 9/10 they don't plan out. This talk of PS5/Series X struggling just doesn't make sense when almost nothing has pushed them even a little bit, FF16 is meant to be a power house of a game but a game that never even scratched the limits of the PS5. Gotham Knights and A Plague Tale being 30fps was a Dev issue not console issue. You're acting like U5 is this impossible engine beyond current gen despite only Fortnite and a Tech Demo actually being out for us to see and play, both ran really well and looked fantastic. If we heard current gen consoles were struggling with it then it would be different but its the opposite as everyone is jumping on it because its easy to use and was designed to get the best from these consoles. End of the day we're nearly 3 years in this Gen but we have only just started moving away from last gen, there's little reason to think current gen is struggling. A $600 8K/120fps console with better RT is something PC's 3 times the price wish they could do.
@WallyWest think you might be missing the point, even if they don’t struggle which many think will be the case. It’s not always about struggling but adding more to the experience for users willing to pay more. Before the 4090 came out PC’s weren’t struggling, it’s just that more power opens more doors for the devs. I think the better question to ask is why do gamers act like they enjoy tech when in reality almost all of them do is talk down advancements. Every time something goes to take the next step, be it cloud, digital sales, subscription services, ray tracing etc etc etc, gamers are screaming at the rooftops to halt advancements. Get a different hobby if tech moving forward scares ya (not you just in general). I agree some devs are just not up to speed to optimize their games and that isn’t the consoles fault. Play devils advocate with me for a second and assume I’m right from what leaks devs are starting to say and we will start to see more 30-40FPS games in late 2023-2024, would you then want a Pro or would you be ok with 30? Cause as far as the PS5 Pro coming i would beat 50% of my saving account on that, I’m that sure, but you arent and thats ok cause you have your reasons. The reason we are 3 years into the gen with little to see is Covid and largely MS. Most of Xbox’s 2022 got delayed & Sony isn’t going to walk away from over 100 million PS4’s to fast. Like i just don’t understand why so many gamers are against Pro models when they won’t buy one so it effects their console experience none, but i want the most powerful things in console form and it does matter to my 65 inch Oled and surround system enjoyment. I have spent over $4k in equipment this past year to game on and i am not happy to have the lesser experience if a company brings out a more premium offering is all i am getting at, the new rumor to read is Switch 2 will launch in 2024 next to PS5 Pro. Sony is already putting PS5 on sale to clear way for the rumored September slim, what’s in September? Starfield so sony will match the Starfield hype with a slim console, smart play if it works out. Last note Bloomberg wasn’t exactly wrong about switch pro the switch oled was the pro with a updated chip but the chip shortage made Nintendo back pedal into launching just the oled with the same Tegra chip. Tho i am not here to say all outlets and leakers get it right all the time.
@GeeEssEff I'm pretty sure it was mentioned before or around the "persistent connection" dust up. Otherwise, I would have jumped into coop just to see how it feels.
@Green-Bandit I suppose this is one of those wait and see things in the end.
@WallyWest for sure, anything can happen. But it seems like MS and Sony both are at least preparing them. 😀
