It's been a while now since we witnessed the conclusion to Season One of the Halo TV series on Paramount Plus, which received somewhat mixed reviews from Halo fans and some critics - but even so, a fresh report has suggested that it was the top show on the platform for the entire year.
The official The Game Awards Twitter account dropped this news earlier in the week, apparently sourcing The Wall Street Journal for the data (although we've yet to come across the article), as you can see below:
It's great news for Paramount and 343 Industries, then, with a second season of the TV series already confirmed to be on the way. There's no official date for this yet, but production started back in September.
If you haven't watched it yet, don't forget that Paramount Plus offers a seven-day free trial for new members who sign up, but unfortunately the old Game Pass Perk for a free month is now longer available.
What did you think of the first season of the Halo TV series? Tell us down in the comments below.

yes i watched it it wasnt good
Currently watching the show and it's honestly the best Halo story that I've experienced. It certainly helps that it's a TV show so you get to spend more time with the characters, which you never did in the games until Halo Infinite.
Me and the wife watched it on the free trial over Christmas. We actually enjoyed it and she doesn't even like the Halo games. Its different to the games, but it's enjoyable for what it is. I did have to explain a few things to her at times
I also watched it with my wife. We came away thinking it was fine. My wife really didn't like how Master Chief looked though.
Kai-125 was the best part of the show tbh. She was a badass.
Almost like that Paramount Plus trial that coincided would boost viewership temporarily.
It wasn't because it was good.
My girlfriend was so mad with some of the changes they did. And I can't blame here.
It wasn't Halo. Simple as that. But that do you expect when your show runners say they know literally nothing and have never played the games.
Halo show was terrible. The last of us on the other hand is looking to be a hit.
#1 show on Paramount Plus. Also, nobody actually subscribed to Paramount Plus so it wasn't a difficult achievement to unlock. It's like being the #1 selling item at Bed Bath and Beyond right now lol. And Yellowstone is a Peacock exclusive in the US.
@LtSarge I presume you've never played much Halo then? Characters like Quan which have whole episodes to themselves couldn't be further from anything in one of the games.
A TV series made by people who have never played the games.
Watched the whole series twice and loved it. I honestly didn't get what all of the hate was for. If you went in expecting to watch one long Halo Reach through Halo 3 cutscene, your expectations were way off base. TV and gaming are different; simple as that. Given the format switch, I thought it was highly entertaining and did the gaming side of the stories justice. I couldn't be more excited for season 2.
Halo is my favorite gaming series and has been since I played the original. I tried to give this show a shot, and actually really liked seeing some locations come to life. I liked most of the actors. Just. I thought the story was terrible. Not because it was different than the games. But the Makee thing was weird and off putting. Didn’t like Master Chief going rogue so quick. Just seemed too different character wise from traditional Master Chief, and the reasoning wasn’t satisfying and just spoke to more structural changes in the universe. There were just too many things that, to me, were too off base. And I couldn’t finish it. And I didn’t even get to the infamous Makee Chief scene in the last episode. I was very disappointed.
I actually liked Makee and the story more than the games
I see some comments here saying the show runners didn’t play or have any idea about the games, which is just not true. The quote that was floating around was one of the show-runners saying they didn’t play the game when they visited 343 and prepped the show, they never said they NEVER played the games. They just simply looked at the entirety of the lore and characters instead of locking themselves into just the games. The show is solid and while plenty of things to complain about, was a promising start.
as soon as master chief took his helmet off i knew the show makers didnt get it
@grumpypotato yeah that paramount+ perk couldnt watch in on xbox no app couldn't watch it on tv no app i had to sit there on a laptop. joke
The Offer was a good show i watched on there about the making of the godfather
@pip_muzz I've played CE, 2, 3, ODST, Reach, CEA, 4, Spartan Assault, 5 and Infinite. So yeah, I haven't played much Halo.
The Halo games have fun gameplay but absolutely forgettable stories.
It's funny how you chose the obviously most annoying character in the show. Because everyone knows that one character ruins an entire show. Everything else that's good about the show doesn't matter. Wouldn't surprise me if you also hated the entirety of the excellent 30-hour campaign of Mass Effect 3 because of its 3 minute ending.
Learning more about characters like Master Chief, Cortana, Dr. Halsey, Captain Keyes and his daughter, it's an absolute treat. Because I can tell you right now, I know very little about these characters because you learn so little about them in the games. The whole point is that you have to absorb information from other media, such as the novels, in order to have a better understanding of the Halo universe. The games don't explain much at all. That's why the show is great and it's even set before Reach, which makes it a perfect starting point for newcomers to the franchise.
@LtSarge it's really not a good TV show. Master Chief as a character is wrong, the romance is shoehorned in and it doesn't feel anything remotely like Halo apart from the odd sound effect or Easter Egg.
It's a sub-par Sci-Fi show with the Halo name slapped on for marketing purposes.
I hope it's something newcomers avoid and instead gravitate to the games.
(Oh and I loved Mass Effect 3, yes the ending was disappointing pre-patch but it's still a 9-10/10 game. But nice of you to be so incorrect in your presumptions)
@pip_muzz Hah yes, because you totally didn't start off your first reply to me with an unnecessary presumption at all.
Tell you what, I'll do us both a favour and make sure we don't have to see each other again. I'll go back to enjoying things in life while you can go back to taking fictional stories too seriously and living in constant misery. Cheers!
I was rooting for the show all season but it didn't really go anywhere, felt like it was spinning its tires the whole time. I am hopeful the next season will be improved, they have everything there, the props and effects are perfect and the casting is great.
It feels like they could have edited the whole season down into 2 or 3 good episodes, there is just so much filler with no substance.
