Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has been in players' hands since late October, with a full story campaign, online multiplayer, and co-op 'Spec Ops' all playable since day one. However, the plan was always to launch Warzone 2.0 — a free-to-play battle royale spin-off — shortly after launch, and its release is right around the corner.
So, here's everything you need to know about the Warzone 2 launch on Xbox.
Call Of Duty Warzone 2 Xbox Release Date
Call of Duty Warzone 2's release date is November 16th across all available platforms including Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The battle royale launches alongside Modern Warfare 2: Season 1, which in itself adds a whole bunch of content across multiplayer and Spec Ops modes.
Remember: Warzone 2 is a free-to-play Call of Duty offering, so you won't need to own Modern Warfare 2 to play the upcoming Call of Duty battle royale.
Call Of Duty Warzone 2 Release Times For Xbox
Call of Duty Warzone 2's release time is 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT on November 16th - the exact same time that MW2: Season 1 launches. You will also be able to download Warzone 2 on Xbox ahead of the launch.
Call of Duty Warzone 2 Preload Times Xbox
You can preload Warzone 2 for Xbox beginning at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT on November 14th.
This should give you ample time to get things installed and ready before the big launch on November 16th.
Be aware that downloading Warzone 2 also requires downloading the Modern Warfare 2 base game.
Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 Xbox Download Size
The Warzone 2 download size at launch is just over 50GB on Xbox. Strangely, the Microsoft Store on a browser indicates that the full size is much larger, but this isn't the case at launch.
Infinity Ward has now dropped the Season 1 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as well, and while the update on Xbox is a substantial one, the overall file size is thankfully kept to around 50GB for the Warzone 2.0 files.

Really looking forward to our household giving this one a try. Warzone 1.0 has just been too clunky on old devices and seems held back on new ones. So this is (hopefully), a welcome improvement.
Had a go of the COD Beta too, and loved it, so plan on picking that up at some point.
I swear the release days for warzone seasons/updates always fall when I'm on a late shift at work.
Looks like solo drops for me, pretty excited for DMZ aswell, could be a nice addition.
Can't wait...for it to be a buggy mess like the how the multiplayer is now. Just a wreck of a game. You'd think they would be pro at this by now. Kind of like Ea making Madden games and still a cluster F*$k
The warzone had better be part of the 119gig that MW2 is currently taking up on my Internal drive. If they think I'm gonna use another 100+ gig to play Warzone they got another thing comin'.
Installing Warzone 2 ATM and it's 46gb
