What is the point of buying a season pass long after a game is released? Does it still allow you to download all the DLC, even if a game has been out a year, etc? I see Season Passes for sale on the Games With Gold store on my Xbox One, but don't quite understand.

(Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I used the SEARCH function, and couldn't find an answer, and I also tried GOOGLE, but I did not find an answer to my query.)

Like with Battlefield 4. If you get the season pass now, you can then go download all the season pass content. There is no time limit on downloading the content. by the way, with BF4 the season pass is well worth the price in my opinion.

@Falco1863:
A season pass is just a conveinant and slightly cheaper way of getting the DLC for a game. You can buy a season pass a year later and get all the DLC at once, usually for a discounted price than buying all the DLC seperately

Whether there is any point to buying a Season Pass or DLC after a year or so is probably down to the game itself and whether or not you will get 'value' from it. Its always worth checking out to see how well populated MP games are if the DLC is Map Packs. Some games have the opportunity to play offline or against 'Bots' so you could still play on these. If the majority of gamers though have moved on and those that are left don't have the map packs - its maybe not a good buy even at a reduced rate as you may never get to play them in the way the were intended.

Other games are pure 'story' based and therefore not so time sensitive or reliant on others to benefit. Generally you can find a review of these additional story packs so you could look them up and see if they are worth it to you.

There is no definitive answer - a Season Pass, whenever its sold is always cheaper than the price of ALL the separate parts but can be more expensive if you only want 1-2packs. In some cases, even a discounted Season Pass has little to no value as you may get no (or very limited) use from the contents but could be great value too - The Witcher 3's (if that gets discounted) would be a great example of fantastic value...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Thank you very much for clarifying that for me! I thought, incorrectly, that a season pass was worthless after a game has already had all of its DLC released!
