Topic: Why is Microsoft down?

Tried to log in just now on my Series X and I keep getting an error message. When I look it up it says Microsoft is down. Did they do an update or something? Kinda odd that there wasn't announced.

Ok apparently I am getting a message from Pure Xbox that my message is to short so I don't know what else to say about my topic so hopefully I can post it now.

I can’t log in either. The Xbox website status page says everything is working, however it won’t let you report an outage, so something’s not right.

Variety (of all places!!) has a story about the outage happening now.
On the upside, this doesn't happen often on xbox.

Oh man. I just bought a new game for my Xbox this morning. I leave for a few minutes to find the whole server is down! That’s some pretty rotten luck haha

@TheBigBlue That sucks…Hoping that the issue is resolved quickly.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to fix outages like these? Just curious, because I was thinking of playing on my console later.

@Pastellioli It all depends on what the problem is. It could take a few hours or a few days.

@Tasuki Thank you! I am hoping it takes a few hours. It makes me sad to see everyone frustrated and annoyed and not being able to game. I haven’t experienced or seen a server outage on the Xbox, so it is my first time seeing it.

@Pastellioli They typically aren't long maybe a few hours but again it all depends on the cause. I was hoping to check out the new season of XDefiant myself when I got the error kinda annoying as this is my only day off this week. Guess I will just catch up on some TV shows for now.

@Tasuki That stinks…Sorry that this is happening on your free day. I was going to try and see if I could play a bit of Nuts and Bolts and get a few more achievements for Rare Replay since I am close to completing a stamp card, but I guess I have to do that later. At least there are some other entertaining things that will keep me occupied for a while. Apparently, there is somewhat of a solution which is that you can turn your connection offline and play any offline games that way, but achievements do not unlock if your console is offline and it still doesn’t allow you to play online games, so I’m going to avoid doing that.

@Pastellioli Looks like they fixed the problem. I just logged on to my Series X and everything is working fine.

@Tasuki Cool! I checked on the app and now it says it’s all clear, but it still doesn’t say it’s resolved. I’ll check if I can log into my console soon. Thank you! I wonder what caused it…a bunch of people think it was a denial of service attack, but I do feel a bit doubtful that was the case.

I havent been able to use my Xbox since Thursday July 11th.. Like I can play 3 games. SF6, Mafia 2, and NBA 2k. But COD:MW3 wont log in to servers, and my home screen wont load up, my game store doesnt tell me anything but "Nothing found" and i reset my system and kept games only I did that Saturday, and still can only play those 3 games.

Everything is fine on my end except I can’t upload screenshots/videos for whatever reason.

Well apparently a cyber security firm that Microsoft uses has made quite a mess today. Banks, hospitals, stores, airports and more are reporting computer problems all because of an update the security company did.

I want to my local Gamestop today and they couldn't do trade ins today and my bank could only do deposits. Another store in the complex didn't open at all today.

As I can tell it hasn't affected gaming on the Xbox at least for me.

Kinda crazy all of this all because of an update.

My pops told me about it. Can verify it’s global. All four airports in Kuwait have shut down. My brother in Atlanta could not access his computer and he’s a PhD student so I’m praying he’s fine.
Gaming wise can also verify it hasn’t affected me either. All seems well.
