@Octane you know i was thinking of doing this about half an hour ago but i couldn't think of a title or wht to write so i left it but anyway on topic
i won't be getting one this year as i can only afford one, either this or a PS5 and i decided to go with the PS5 as MS has said that for the first year all games will still be coming to XB1 which i do have
should be picking one up next year though

I'm VERY excited for this machine! I think Microsoft are really gearing up to make a significant comeback, and I simply can't wait to get my hands on Halo Infinite!
@KratosMD I think Xbox Game Pass is one of the biggest tools Microsoft have in their arsenal. They've been building all these great features in the background for so long (Game Pass, backwards compatibility, xCloud, etc) and now they can fully unleash them on the Series X generation from day one.
The fact that you can play Halo Infinite with Game Pass at launch is awesome.
I don't think I'll need to get one at launch, but that all depends on what's playable on my One X, whether there's the cheaper Series S available at the same time, and whether there's any must have exclusives that won't run on the One X.
I'll no doubt end up with one a year after launch, anyway.

@FullbringIchigo I still think they'll add more 360 and OG games to the service in the future though. They stopped doing it because they wanted to prepare for the Series X, but I expect they'll resume adding titles after the console's out in the wild.
There's every chance we'll get a heap of new BC titles revealed as part of the launch.
I'll be getting one at launch for sure.
I really like Microsoft's vision for gaming and it feels like a nice place to play.
Although Sony have the massive titles, they're titles that we all kinda expect right? God of War 2, Horizon 2, Bloodborne 2, Gran Turismo 7. Phenomenal games all but.....you know....expected.
What will Xbox gamers get? Who Knows?! It's this mystery and the studio acquisitions that make Xbox an exciting choice for me.
Plus, you know, Halo Infinite.
Microsoft now own a sizeable number of studios and I fully expect to see something revealed from each of them as part of the digital conference. I know there's a couple we already know about such as Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory so I do not expect anything new from them. And I imagine we will see Forza 8 revealed too, but Playground Games are rumoured to be working on a new Fable and that new studio Microsoft set up are rumoured to be working on a Perfect Dark reboot. Though even if they are not and it's a new IP, I could still see a reboot happening - that rumour has been doing the circuits for a long while now.

@FullbringIchigo Right but a number of my favorite games are already on the BC Program which is what I meant. Stuff like KotOR, Jade Empire, Double Dragon Neon to name a few. Of course I am always excited when they add more.

@FraserG MS Stated that it wasn't easy to bring old games to BC because of licensing issues. Whether that is because the dev teams no longer exist to ask, some music in the game or the publisher no longer owning the IP. Various reasons made it difficult.
MS did say they were working on the next gen version of BC and have stated that BC will offer improvements that won't require developer input - similar to some of the enhancements the older Xbox games have on XB1. That may mean that the team will be focussed on improving XB1 games on Series X rather than looking at adding more OG and 360 Xbox.
I am NOT expecting MS to add the 1000's of games that are not available on XB1 via BC - if they do add more, Bonus! I got the impression that MS were 'done' with older games and were now looking at improving XB1 games on Series X or at the very least, ensuring the BC games already available, work and/or get boosted by Series X...

@BAMozzy surly that would only be true for digital titles though i don't see why it would affect physical titles unless they do it like on XB1 where you have to download the game to play it
They should just put in a emulator and let us play any OGXB & 360 game discs, they don't need to be enhanced or improved and while emulation isn't perfect i admit it would at least make a lot more games playable on the system

@FullbringIchigo All I am saying is that as it stands right now, we do not have any information either way. All we have is the 'experience' of B/C on XB1 as a guideline and some comments by MS themselves - The issues of adding games to B/C (Licensing etc), comments at the time they decided to stop adding more games to B/C and the future of B/C on Series X.
At the time of stopping the 'older' games, MS said that 'the backward compatibility program was shifting and the team was focusing on making sure that every game you're currently playing on your Xbox One will be playable on Xbox Series X' and have said that B/C on Series X will give additional benefits to older games too. To me, that says that the existing library of games will be B/C but doesn't say that they intend to add anymore 360 or OG games to the list.
Therefore, I am expecting the games we have to be available on Series X with no expectation that the 1000's of other games not available will be added. If they do - Bonus! but nothing has been said to indicate that is in their plans and expecting or even hoping that MS will add them could lead to disappointment...

@BAMozzy There definitely shouldn't be any expectation behind it (at the end of the day, it's a great library already), but I still personally think they'll resume adding OG and Xbox 360 titles to backwards compatibility in the future. They've worked so hard in bringing BC titles to the current generation — it only makes sense they'll continue doing so in the next. I think they're in it for the long run.
As you say though, I'm sure some games will never make the cut due to licensing issues.
