During Nintendo Life's recent "Month of Kong", our man Dave posted an article about how much he loves Donkey Kong Country. You can read it here.
Great article and I absolutely loved reading it. Even went out and bought Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U as a result. But I hit a problem. The same problem that I always hit with DKC titles. I just ain't feeling it.
I've played through the first two worlds and it just hasn't grabbed me. The same as the 3DS Donkey Kong Country Returns failed to hit the mark with me. In truth, I LOVE platformers, but I never really enjoyed DKC, even back on the SNES. I don't know what it is. I just never really get comfortable with the controls. With Mario, the controller becomes an extension of my thoughts. But with DKC, I'm always fumbling around like an idiot! I can see that the game is obviously of a high quality, but it just doesn't hold a place in my heart. It's a shame, as I really WANT to love the games.
Are there any major franchises that you'd like to guiltily admit to not liking or not getting on with?
I have a high level of respect for Bethesda and the Elder Scrolls series but unfortunately I just can't get into the series. Have never cared for any of the games and I really tried to get into Oblivion and Skyrim but both just seemed boring to me.
@SuperKMx: I totally agree with you on the DKC. I am the same way I played them back on the SNES and I just couldn't see what the hype was. Yeah the graphics were great and ahead of their time but the controls like you said, ugh.
But back on topic mine would have to be the Mass Effect series, I don't know why but I just couldn't get into this series. I tried all three of the games but after a few hours of playing them I just turned them off and haven't looked back. I really wanted to enjoy these games but yeah I just can't get into them.

I'd agree with that one. A friend convinced me to play through Mass Effect 2 and I was so unbelievably disconnected from the game after a couple of hours that I couldn't be bothered to forge ahead.
