Not a fan of moneyhatting. But like Rise of the Tomb Raider, I'm happy the game exists. I just hope this isn't the start of Sony and MS going shot-for-shot and locking people on other platforms out of third party games.

But strictly speaking SF 5 and fighting games in general, it looks like things are finally going to get good on the new consoles soon enough. MK X next year, Tekken 7 is being made, now this is announced. Soul Calibur next up?

If I'm entirely honest, I'm really not bothered about Street Fighter V being PS4 and PC exclusive. The last Street Fighter game I enjoyed was SFII on the SNES and in arcades, so...

You didn't like 3!? For my money that is the best game in the series even if I was never good enough to master parries >.>

Well honestly I don't know what to make of it being an exclusive.  On the one hand I can't blame Sony for doing what MS did to them with Rise of the Tomb Raider and I think its great that they are sticking it to MS.

On the other hand I think its just horrible that companies are playing this way.  Honestly if the companies were for the gamers they wouldn't care what system the game is on their objective should be to get it out on as many platforms as they can for everyone to enjoy. But alas that will probably only happen in a perfect world.

Platform holders don't care about the gamers they care about their gamers. They should be working to lock up as many exclusives as they can since that is what will sell systems.

I bought a Wii U for Nintendo's exclusives and the same for PS4/Xbox One. I'm a big fan of competition since at the end of the day the extra money that is put into these exclusive third party games should make them better (assuming of course some of the money goes back into the game and isn't just pocketed completely).

I can see why Xbox owners would be mad (the same way as PS4 owners were when the whole Tomb Raider exclusivity was anounced like you mentioned) but oh well. If they really wanna play it I guess they should upgrade their PCs, wait it out (assuming its timed) or buy a PS4 (and there are a lot of great reasons to get one anyhow). Probably not what they want to hear but nothing else can be said about it.

I agree with this, and I'd go as far as to say that they don't really care about their gamers all that much, either. A surprising number of people entirely fail to understand that the platform holders are just businesses who are trying to make money. It sounds cynical, but the only reason any of them have reward schemes like Club Nintendo or Xbox Live Rewards, or free game giveaways like Games With Gold or PlayStation Plus, is because someone in some marketing team somewhere told them that it would make them money, drive new subscriptions, or increase user retention in the long run. Same with exclusives. Someone says "if you pay $50m for exclusives, you'll make $100m in hardware sales and subscriptions" - so they go out and start paying for exclusives.

That's why I laugh so hard at fanboys. It's like they think that because they've bought one company's console, they're suddenly best friends with that company and that they'll be rewarded if they are. They don't seem to understand that rewards and other "displays of love" from the company are essentially bribes to keep you spending money with that platform holder if you're on the fence about doing so. They give you something, you think you'll get more in the future, you don't cancel your subscription, the platform holder turns a profit.

It's like when folks were talking about how Ubisoft cares about gamers because they offered the free game/DLC compensation for Assassin's Creed Unity. If they cared about gamers, they would have delayed the game when they realised that it was broken. They gave things away to generate positive press, and to try to repair next year's preorder numbers in advance. Some people who were going "Well, I'm not preordering the next Assassin's Creed!" are now sat there saying "Well, if I preorder the next Assassin's Creed and it's broken, I guess at least I'll get a free game out of it again."

Money makes the world go round.

Yep you guys are 100% correct that's why I ended my thought with in a perfect world lol.  Its sad what you say but it is 100% truth.

I the same vein @TylerTreese I can understand companies wanting their systems to sell after all that's why they are in the business to make money.  I just don't like it when a company like Capcom who has not been exclusive in the past all of a sudden becomes an exclusive.  In all honesty it make me think that companies like MS and Sony don't have faith in their first party developers if they have to go outside and buy up third party companies.

Capcom actually has a pretty solid past of exclusives. There was the 'Capcom Five' for the Gamecube which didn't turn out that great (although I wanna say 2 didn't come out and Viewtiful Joe/RE4 both later came to PS2). The first Dead Rising was a 360 exclusive (although you could argue it was ported to Wii), Dead Rising 3 was Xbox One exclusive. Deep Down is a PS4 exclusive and now SF V is. But yeah the doubts about both first parties are semi-warranted tbh.

@Ken

Yup. Some people act like they are shareholders and not consumers. Its hilarious. I feel like Nintendo's fanbase is the worst when it comes to that. Boy, if you criticize anything you're suddenly a "Nintendo Hater", a "Xbot" or my personal favorite(!): "Sony Pony".

IDK if the Sony Pony is a real term but God I hope it is.

People will disagree but I don't care. Deals for something like Sunset Overdrive, Bloodborne, Scalebound, or a sequel to a lesser known franchise like Bayonetta 2, those third party deals don't bother me. But the ones for Tomb Raider and SF V, both MS and Sony can f right the hell off for that. As an owner of both consoles, I'll buy both games, have to move past the politics and in the end, if I'm a fanboy of anything, it's just good games. However, I'm not a fan of these wheelings and dealings at all. Hopefully they both leave the next Mass Effect, Resident Evil, Red Dead and GTA alone. DLC deals? Fine, but full or timed exclusive? No, please.

I wonder if Sony helped fund the game. Not like Capcom has been super successful lately. Ono had said he didn't have the funding/team to make SFV a year or two ago so I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom looked for funding.

If its like Bayonetta 2 where we either get an exclusive sequel or don't get the game at all I would much rather see it made.
