So, I was looking at my entertainment unit the other day, and I noticed that there was a problem. Everything on it, including the unit itself and the TV above it, is black in colour. Or, at the very least, a very, very dark grey. I've got a PS4, PS3, XO, X360, Wii U, Vita, and black 3DS all sat there.
I wanted to add the greatest console ever made to the collection. But there's a problem: the Dreamcast is white. It stands out a mile and looks out of place. My OCD tendencies just wouldn't go for it. So, I decided to find out about spray painting (something I've not done before) and have started working on making a black/grey Dreamcast.
I'm halfway through (waiting for a replacement spring to arrive as I botched the one on the drive lid as I took it apart) but I'll post pictures when it's done.
Has anyone else attempted this with any of their consoles at all? Were you happy with the results?
I have never attempted this myself (I fear I am not that talented with a spray can lol) but I have seen some nice jobs around the internet. One thing that I noticed is that auto paint looks really good when put on a console, especially with that high sheen. One of these days when I get some extra cash I might pick up an older system and try it something that if I totally mess up it wont matter lol.

I thought that too, so I picked some up and used on my dead "tester" Dreamcast. The paint bubbled up really, really horribly. I ended up picking up some bumper paint, which has a matt finish...seems to be going OK so far!
Problem is that it only comes in black, grey, or dark grey!
The only thing I've ever spray painted is furniture, although I've been tempted to try it on my 360. It's a Gears of War 360 and ... I don't play Gears of War
Home-made AC Xbox, anyone?

Nice job there, it reminds me of the black sports edition Dreamcast.
Yeah, that's what I was going for - without the big ugly "SEGA SPORTS" logo splashed across the top! I would have just searched out one of those if it wasn't for that logo on the thing!

I dont know the logo never bugged me. I just picked one up a few weeks ago and I will admit I think the DC looks better in black but that might be because most of my systems are black except for my NES, SNES, and Star Wars Edition Xbox 360.
Still it seemed weird that every Sega console before the DC was black and then they went white for the DC.
