I'm playing f.e.a.r. for the first time, on the series x, via backwards compatibility, with 60fps. Am shocked at how well it holds up, graphically, gameplay. Came into a dark room, turned on the flashlight, heard an enemy say "flashlight!" and they positioned themselves for an attack.
I want to experience more horror games so I want to see if I can get some advise here for games to have a lookout for. I'm not the biggest fan of horror games where there is a survival element, so limited resources and half of the time having to run away instead of fight like in Alan Wake and Resident evil for instance. I actually like something like the Medium, which had a pretty fun puzzle element in switching between the two worlds. And even though Tango said it isn't really a horror game Ghostwire Tokyo isone of my favorite games of the year because of the atmosphere. So does anyone have any horror tips for games that can be played on Xbox or ps5 that don't involve the stress of a survival horror but still are spooky on some way?
@Lavalera Project Zero/Fatal Frame. It's Series X/S-optimised and it's more psychological than most horror games. It's focused more on exploring and investigating than battling and running away. Battles are super addictive because of the camera gameplay.
@HarmanSmith I never played Condemned 2 either. The first one was really creepy. I’m usually not a fan of first person games but that one I think having it in first person just heightened the horror to the game.
@EvilSilentFrame Totally. The first person view added to the atmosphere. Of course, nowadays there are lots of first person horror games, more of the "walking simulator" type. But that one was special and a series that, regrettaby, is long gone now.
Fatal Frame (PS2)
Silent Hill (PS1)
REmake (GC)
Corpse Party (PSP)
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GC)
It's nice to see classic, Japanese-style survival horror enjoying something of a small revival lately. I appreciate stuff like SOMA, Detention, and whatnot, but it can't compare to that specific style of game design for me.
Currently Playing: Fields of Mistria (PC); Cookie Clicker (PC); Metaphor: ReFantazio (PC); Overboard! (PC)
Condemned (Xbox 360)
Eternal Darkness (GC)
Fatal Frame/Project Zero 1 & 2 - Played first time in PS2, now I played them in PS3)
Silent Hil 2 & 3 (PS2)
Siren (PS2) - This one have a strange gameplay, but I played it back in the day when I was younger and scared the hell out of me - I always wanted to try the sequel on PS3.
Clock Tower 3 (PS2) - It relied more on jump scares than others, but a good one nevertheless.
Alone in the Dark - The New Nightmare (PS1)- I really liked this one - again, I was young ! As a side note, I hope they get right the new game.
Haven't played much horror games. Only Dead Space 1 and 2, and Resident Evil 4. Planning none at the moment, but the Dead Space remake (late Jan 2023), and The Callisto Protocol are 'under my radar'.
Hey everyone, I am Linne from Zen Studios! We are a video game company and are mostly known for our pinball tables. We created a new horror/lovecraftian style machine that we thought might be of interest to you.
i still need to play original Dead Space for my Playstation 3 along with Dino Crisis 1 and then replay Resident Evil 0 for my Nintendo Switch Lite. Might have to play them during October next month anyway for the heck of it
Nightmare Creatures 2 i used to have for my Playstation a long time ago. I actually liked that game since its a sort of steampunkish horror game and it had a good Rob Zombie band music soundtrack in the game.
Well as stated on a aonther site yesterday I actually find the Batman games to be excellent horror games. So I could very much recommend people to give them a try at some point in time.
