Avowed has officially been delayed. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle doesn't have a release date yet. Most of Xbox's other releases this year are DLC packs, aside from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 of course. So, how would you feel if Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ends up being the major Xbox game for Fall 2024?
Given the hype behind Black Ops 6 and its long development cycle for a COD title, we're not too fussed here at the PX offices if this ends up being the case. Of course, we want Indiana Jones to hit this year — and news could well arrive on that front during Gamescom this month — but if it doesn't, so be it. We'll have plenty to play either way!
That's not just on the Xbox first-party front either; there's still a lot coming this year from third party teams too. We've got Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster coming to the platform next month, we've got the likes of Stalker 2 for Xbox Game Pass this November after its most recent delay, and lots more besides.
We want to hear from you guys on the matter though, to be honest. We know that COD can be a divisive title, and we know that lots of Xbox fans have been looking forward to a busy end of the year, so - would it bother you if Indiana Jones doesn't make it and Black Ops 6 ends up being the tentpole title for Xbox this year?
Would you be happy with COD as Xbox's main game this fall? Comment down below and tell us what you think about the lineup.

My feeling is that if Avowed was delayed, they are likely confident that Indy will release this year. So I’m continuing to have faith that it will.
@awp69 BRINGING THE FAITH. Let's hope so ✌

If we talk about commercial success, Call of Duty is going to be the great Xbox launch of every year, it is almost the great launch of every year for any platform. This will surely continue for many years as long as its commercial performance does not decrease.
From there it is a matter of taste, for me the big release this year was going to be Avowed, but it has been delayed, so maybe it will be Indy, or Flight Simulator, or Age of Mythology, or Towerborne, or Ara: History Untold, or even Hellblade 2, which although it is a fairly scripted and short game , it is very spectacular.
Not to excited about anything upcoming really nothing looks that great so I don't care bought trials rising so excited to get stuck into that I loved Evo and HD on the 360!
I mean...if you're not used to disappointment with xbox by now lol. The problem is that no one believes anything they say about pretty much anything. I'll believe indy is coming out WHEN it comes out. I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if we're still not playing Avowed in the spring of 2025. Microsoft has burned all their goodwill.
Bring back 4 player, split screen, Zombies.
Until then, zero interest and will stick to Black Ops 4.
Indy has to come and deliver, or this is another epic failure fall.
If it's only CoD and not indy, it's a pretty abysmal year unfortunately. Less and less am I playing my xbox and shifting back towards my switch. Indy is my most anticipated Xbox game by far so if it's only hellblade 2 and cod, ouch.
I hate call of duty so I'd be really angry to be honest indy needs to be released this year though else xbox has failed once again
I consider Stalker 2 to be tent pole, assuming it released this year. Sure, I would love to play Indy this fall but if it gets delayed I wouldn't be terribly fused.
People hyping indiana jones up so much like its going to be GOTY. What if it comes out and is garbage like starfield?
Never get your hopes up kids
Xbox is dead, long live Microsoft Gaming. Where they don’t care about top-notch exclusives on the box, but ok-ish games on every platform.
Indy getting delayed would be a shame (might be a great 3d metroidvania) but I expect it to happen at this point. It’s a game that doesn’t fit the new Microsoft Gaming mantra, so why should it release?
I’m also awaiting the upcoming Microsoft Marketing Mess where they’ll tell the game runs only at 1080p and does not support feature X on the xbox series S. (Or that they forget to advertise it at all). Or that a report leaks out where it’s said that the game has 3 months of exclusivity and then comes to PS5. Or that you’re able to buy a super suit or 3 additional story levels for more money.
No I’m not salty at all 😅
I have zero interest in those yearly war games. Must have been 15 years since I played one.
I'd feel bad. The only reason I'm paying any attention to CoD this year is because its coming to GP. The single player/co-op content rarely justifies the RRP for me.
The X1 generation was filled with these droughts and whilst gamepass has helped address that there is this constant feeling that other platforms are getting constant games whilst we wait for a smattering of releases shouldn't be lingering now 4 years into this generation (and now that Xbox has 30 studios). It's reminding me more and more of the Dreamcast and Wii U.
I don't play COD games, just not my thing. So if that ends up being it, I will be disappointed. I have no faith Indy or Towerbourne will release this year either, but I am optimistic something from xbox will come out that I like, or 3rd party gamepass fills the void. I've been a gamepass fan for a while, but starting to get cautious there with the confusion over Heist 2 being on it or not, price hike, shifting release dates, marketing ActiBlizz older titles as "new on game pass," as in my opinion they are back catalog and should not be considered as new content, just made available like all the other back catalog.
The value proposition is starting to slip for me personally
I’ve not been excited by a CoD for years it’s not gonna change now/ for it to be Xbox’s only big title would be a disaster in gaming terms
Not bothered in the slightest. Flight Sim 2020 was the reason I bought the Series X, and 2024 looks leaps above that.
I'm not actually sure that many people realise that this is a completely new game, and not just an update - I really can see people being blown away by it if it's as good as it seems.
I have no interest in CoD or any other of ABK franchise (with the exception of Diablo which I own.)
Still very much on the fence about Indy too and am not excited about the actual game play that has been shown.
Stalker 2 is something to be excited for but I am still expecting that to delay into 2025 (& that's ok if they need the time)
As it stands the only things I am looking forward to right now are dlc (for Diablo 4 & Starfield.)
Regardless of whether Indy makes 2024 or not, Black OPS 6 IS the big xbox game this fall.
It's probably the biggest release of this fall from any publisher.
@HeavyHoggJP The gameplay doesn't look game of the year on Indiana Jones I wouldn't pin any hopes on that for greatness cutscenes look amazing though👍
Not bothered. Won't play COD, not really looking forward to Indy. GP member for last couple years, and there's always something play.
I can not answer because the post would be removed due to inappropriate language.
There's really two types of gamers in the world. Gamers that care about CoD (and basically don't care about any other game) and gamers that don't care about CoD (and care about lots of other games.)
If you cared about CoD before now, you probably didn't really care about most of the other games anyway. If you didn't care about CoD before now, it's still non-existent to you now.
Kind of awkward to have such an all or nothing game act as the console's identity.
its pretty sad .
CoD is the big release. Regardless.
Indy isn’t what it was to a younger audience anyway. (I personally think it will be a good game) but the worry has to be that it’s just going to get swallowed up by CoD if it doesn’t release by end of September.
@Mustoe It's not a matter of snobbery. For the most part CoD players are dedicated CoD players. It's kind of it's own microcosm of the gaming world. People that aren't embedded in CoD just aren't going to care about it (for the most part), people that do, of course it's their "big release."
@NEStalgia that can be said though about a lot of franchises. People that play everything Pokémon, everything Fifa or everything Madden for instance? Live service games disguised as yearly releases. With micro transactions.
Not as big as CoD though.
If CoD and DLC is all Xbox can produce, they should change the console’s name to GAASbox. Gasbox. Low brow humor, but it’s how I’d feel.
I don't play CoD, and my interest in Indy is lowish. They already delayed the game I was actually slightly excited for to 2025 in order to not interfere with a bunch of games I don't care about.
That said, the last quarter of this year is going to see me playing a TON of Space Marine 2, no matter what else releases.
Indy is one of the games I'm the most looking forward to this year - I can't imagine this date slipping up, would hurt their holiday sales significantly.
Whether people like it or not COD BO6 absolutely IS Xbox's biggest release of the season.
I hate call of duty and resent that Microsoft is bent over backwards over it. And over activision, which frankly hasn’t put out anything in the last 15-20 years that I care about.
But I’m not on game pass for AAA or first party stuff anyway.
Personally, I couldn't care less if CoD was the only 'Big' release of the Holidays or not. I would wonder what has happened that so many games failed to materalise and what MS intend to do about that.
Its not as if there isn't games to play and games to look forward to as well, but for a year that looked to build on 2023, after 2022's incredible lacklustre year and 2021's 'best Publisher by Metacritic' year.
If ALL we got was CoD, then it would seem that 'even' years (2022, 2024) were weak years for Xbox games to release...
@Eejay Exactly my reason for picking up a Series X as well.
It used to be Forza that made me get an Xbox, but Flight Simulator just hits differently. Definitely, my biggest anticipated game of the year
Are we now hitting the point where it would be better to just buy a handheld PC and not bother with an Xbox at all anymore?
@NEStalgia
I would agree with that assessment. Even with COD day one on Game Pass, I have zero interest in playing this game. I am playing the crap out of Dungeons of Hinterburg for some reason.
@NEStalgia I don't agree with that assessment. While I walked away from CoD years ago, I've always played a wide variety of games. I've played on multiple devices (consoles, computers/PC) all my life. The same reasons pushed me away from CoD and Assassin's Creed — life and series annualization. Destiny had to be abandoned due to the time commitment.
Right now, the MWIII campaign is in my rotation and I'm having a great time. I plan to jump into MP, too. I played the demo period of the previous CoD and that helped to reignite interest.
I expect them to fail and not have very many quality releases, as always.
They need new management badly.
