Apart from Avowed, DOOM: The Dark Ages will release at some point in 2025, and Fable is seemingly on track to arrive next year. Here's the full rundown, along with an official Xbox graphic:

Im fine with Avowed being moved considering they have 9 releases still due for the rest of the year. Unfortunatly for me there's only Indy and Shattered Space Im interested in and they dont have proper release dates yet.
Still no word on old Activision games
That’s all well and good if your a pc gamer up till up untill 25th October
Good thing I don’t have an Xbox or game pass specifically for first party stuff…
They had that awesome Showcase and everything, but somehow I still feel like there is nothing coming up for the rest of 2024. Hopefully Indy releases.
@jesse_dylan Why is that a good thing?
Well I guess as long as Indy is 2024 it’s not that bad with Avowed now given a Feb date in 2025.
The very most, very important thing are the games and the AAA quality to me, that is what is missing from Xbox studios.
They need to be up there with the best AAA or very near to it and play like pure silk and gold with modern engine systems. Not average stand good ok like Starfield.
Because that is the difference between Xbox and Sony/Nintendo when Sony/Nintendo are on very good form with their big AAA games.
Xbox needs their GOWR, Uncharted 4, BOTW and Mario Odyssey and not good average games.
When Indy and Avowed release and if they are good average and even games like Astro Bot and Zelda echos is classed on average as scoring and seen above and better than Avowed and Indy then it’s not very good for Xbox.
Especially as Astro Bot and Zelda Echo are not massive Sony and Nintendo releases.
The most highest scoring and praised critically best AAA on that list will be DOOM.
And DOOM is releasing on other console formats, interesting.
Its another 'just wait till next year' moment. Thats easy to bear if xbox is your main platform as there are some really good 3rd parties to take up the slack (again.)
But if your xbox is there for exclusives, as mine is, then its also fair to be dissapointed.
Blops 6 and Indy will do fine for me for this year. Can wait a bit longer for Avowed.
@Meehanuk_1987 I don't follow.
Just one more year guys! We got this!
Are we going to actually advertise on main stream tv and billboards etc this year and let the general public in UK Europe these games are coming and in existence along with the Xbox consoles and game pass.
I don't think xbox has ever been in this position where they have 6+ full games ready for release within 3-4 months of each other.
It should be really beneficial to have so many games they have to wait for the right time to release each game instead of the old xbox way of getting the game out ASAP because they haven't released anything in a while. The games should be more polished this way and we should start to see some regularity with the release cadence.
@OldGamer999 unfortunately, we are not blessed with big marketing budgets.
This is why the GamePass price increase is so frustrating. The quality and quantity of content isn't there to justify it. In the normal business model delaying a game isn't a big deal. Company gets the money when the product is released. With subscription it's the other way around. They expect me to continue to pay for that month but without the content. No thanks.
Looking forward to the releases next year. South of Midnight, Doom, and Fable look fantastic. At this point though, I think I’ll buy them instead of subbing to GP (and on PS instead of Xbox where available), depending on price. Hope Indy gets a release date at Gamescom…
Only really interested in the Diablo expansion.
I will play the Starfield expansion because I already paid for it but my excitment for that franchise has diminished somewhat.
All the rest are very much wait & see if they deliver.
As for Avowed I prefer a delay to a wonky release & I hope they stick the landing when it eventually releases.
After all the studio acquisitions, Xbox's first party releases are more and better than those of the competition. Maybe some variety is missing, there is a big focus on action and RPG games, although I love these types of games, I certainly can't complain.
I'll do the list for you guys - maybe Indiana Jones in 2024. There you have it.
It amuses me that a WoW expansion is being touted as an XBox game.
@Ricky-Spanish sarcasm I assume
as ever with xbox, it's 'next year there will be games'
what a crap 2024
also, isn't it misleading to badge shattered space as a first party xbox GAME, as first party GAMES are day 1 on gamepass. Shattered space DLC is NOT coming to gamepass
I just wish wow would come to game pass with the expansions.
I can understand 'Avowed' - a brand new IP and an RPG too - would be delayed to give it the 'best chance' of success. Its not just the other MS games coming this year but also other Single Player games like Star Wars Outlaws and Assassins Creed Shadows.
Forgetting about 'Game Pass' for a moment, a game like Avowed would likely struggle as Star Wars and Assassins Creed are much bigger IP's and more recognisable too. Those games are likely to sell more just on the IP alone and having an established large fan base for Star Wars or AC will help these succeed in a 'busy' window.
February could be a much better window for Avowed as there is generally far fewer releases and so isn't competing against recognisable IP's and may feel they have a bit more time to dedicate to an RPG too instead of spreading their gaming over multiple games.
Even when they do have 'games' releasing, I still see people whinging about a lack of games/content - not AAA enough, doesn't interest them or not 'exclusive' to Xbox to 'justify' why they have an Xbox. Game Pass too isn't 'just' for the AAA 1st Party releases, but also their Partners and/or Published 3rd Party games - Stalker 2 & Contraband for example - as well as games like Flintlock, B4B, Lies of P, Tunic etc etc and whilst Shattered Space maybe DLC, its still additional content that had to be made and some DLC can be bigger/better than some complete games. Blood & Wine (Witcher 3) is a great example of additional content that is better than many AAA games even if it is just 'DLC'. Just because it isn't on Game Pass either doesn't mean that its not 'content' that people could well be playing this 'Holiday', filling their 'gaming' time playing - especially as Some will have 'pre-ordered' this to get Starfield earlier too.
@Ricky-Spanish cause they ain’t release any first party stuff
I'm disappointed. I feel like this lineup is focusing on their huge IP, most from the recent acquisition, none of which interest me: COD, flight sim, Starfield, WoW, Diablo. Not a surprise, but my worry is that this is the sign of things to come. Will every fall become about not stepping on COD launch, with smaller franchises filling out the calendar, assuming they release and are not subject to cuts and delays.
The only one I was interested in was Avowed... Oh well.
I was looking forward to playing Avowed this year, ah well I've still got Age of Mythology: Retold so I'm happy
So we can get a concrete release date for Avowed, but not Indy? Come on!
I've seen it mentioned in a couple places that the Avowed delay was in response to Stalker 2 getting pushed to November. There are also already rumors that Fable won't make 2025, so people should start getting ready for that.
Their list for the rest of the year starts looking less impressive when you see that 3 of these are DLCs (WoW, Diablo, Starfield) and another one is PC only (Ara). So for Xbox players you have Age, CoD, Flight Sim, Indy, and Towerborne.
I guess as long as Indy and Towerborne come out this year, I'll have stuff to play.
@InvaderFromSpace GTA6 is likely going to cause complete chaos with release schedules. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Game Pass gets another price increase in September 2025 but the only 1st party game for the rest of that year is CoD 2025.
@jesse_dylan But loads of 3rd party stuff is it's still a ok deal most the first party stuff looks crap anyways tbh games are games 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th party if it's on game pass and you want to play it your saving money! Game pass is literally one of the main reasons to own an Xbox nowadays everyone knows they that!
@Dimey Because it's dlc not a game 🤷
@Ricky-Spanish I know that’s why I said I’m glad I don’t have an Xbox or game pass primarily for first party stuff.
Now watch Rockstar announce an 18th February 2025 release date for Grand Theft Auto VI.
Towerborne looks fantastic, therefore MS will spend next to nothing marketing it and then send it out to die in obscurity.
Gubernatorial
Good to have some dates, just a shame the ones I’m most interested in either aren’t dated or are 2025
Removed - off-topic
Looking forward to Avowed, but I don’t mind it being moved to next year because my backlog is ridiculous 😅
@Sifi Sony’s lineup is paltry too, but they’ve got third party exclusives enough to fill out their lineup a bit. Realistically, this year and last year were bad years for both of them on the first party side of things. If not for the third party exclusives, people would complain about Sony more. Platform speaking, Nintendo, even on a down year, is the platform with the most solid first party release schedule again, though third parties are now sort of leaving them behind due to software limitations.
I'm playing Mad Max
Hidden gem 💎
Can't wait to play all of these on PC when it arrives on Tuesday!
Farewell Series X (and PS5)!
Waiting for Towerborn
Looking forward to Indy and Perfect Dark. Now would like a portable / native way to play Xbox games, so I can sit next to my honey while she watches TV.
@GamingFan4Lyf You setting it up in a main room and using like a console or going for a desk based setup?
@Mustoe Ryzen 7800X3D with 240mm liquid cooler, 32GB RAM, Nvidia 4070 Super, 2TB M.2, and a 27" LG Nano 1440p 165Hz HDR monitor.
It is a CyberPowePC prebuild from Best Buy and monitor was $150 off.
I WAS building one from Micro Center (which is an hour drive from me). I got it all in the case only to find out the PCB for the case fans and RGB was shot on the case - nothing I did got those case fans running or the RGB when hooked into that board.
I called Micro Center and was told that I needed to return the whole case. So, I had to take everything out and just decided to take everything back.
I didn't want the hassle of re-assembling everything again and bought Prebuilt - because, honestly, if something else is busted when I finally do get it hooked up, it will be another 1-hour drive back to Mico Center.
Best Buy is 10 minutes away.
I wanted the experience of building myself again, but that was shattered by faulty equipment and the cheapest route is a store 50 miles away!
@Ilyn I am going the desk-based route. I have a nice quiet room in my basement I can use (plus the ambient temperature down there is cool).
@GamingFan4Lyf Nice, basically the same as me but you have the newer model of processor. It should play everything for a good couple of years since the 4080 / 4090 are overkill for 1440p
Yeah mine is desk based in my room, at the old house had a second lounge with a sofa and a TV which the desk was right next to so I could throw the input there if needed. But I find the desk is fine for most things, and honestly better for some.
Now you gotta get yourself the expensive peripherals that PC gamers love so much 😅
@Mustoe If only PC would allow you to use a controller.. maybe one day we can all be living that dream
@Mustoe My TV is actually a little too small for the room it's in, so I pull up a chair when I game with a controller (or sit on the floor). No "couch play" for me!
Plus, I still do plan to use an Xbox controller on PC for a lot of games (where it's supported). I'll probably slowly transition back to keyboard and mouse, but any third-person titles I play will probably be with a Gamepad.
But, honestly, I got a gaming PC because I am getting tired of the console ecosystems and I fear it's only going to get worse as the years go on.
I wanted a system that can do it all.
Microsoft's focus isn't really consoles anymore (even though it pledged a next console) and Sony's domination only makes it more likely to see how far it can go to bend its costumers over a barrel in years to come.
I am not going all "PC Master Race" on anyone.
For me, it makes the most sense. I like older games a lot as well as new games and PC covers that from both the official channels - GOG, etc. - and via emulation! I don't have to clutter my house with consoles!
@Ilyn The way I see it, the CPU/RAM combination will probably last for a long time as consoles continue to be the focus of developers and I just don't see even the PS6/Nextbox APUs being better than that.
So, when games stop run well (though I do feel like DLSS and Frame-gen will probably extend the life of GPUs going forward - even if you have to use more aggressive DLSS profiles in the future), it will probably just require a GPU upgrade (possibly motherboard) rather than fully replacing the whole PC.
@OldGamer999 "Xbox needs their GOWR, Uncharted 4, BOTW and Mario Odyssey and not good average games."
I would say that is false narrative that has perpetuated. The Sony games focus heavily on narrative and cinematic presentation far beyond gameplay. Nintendo is games are the default safe games for children and are exalted by some nostalgic adults. As for the next Doom, had it been Xbox exclusive, it would have been knocked for it.
@JoakimZ I'm about 3-5 hours into AWII, fifteen minutes into BG3, and I'm haven't started Armored Core 6, yet. All of which I bought at or near launch. That's just for starters.
@Vipor007 what's the problem with old Activision games? They're so cheap by now. You can buy games like Tony Hawks, Spyro Collection and stuff for small prices.
The typical modern Mimimi discussions. Makes me sick reading sentences like:
"Only got my X for 300 bucks for Hellblade 2. Now I still might keep it for Indy (both completely free), then resell again of course. Let's see if it really still will be this year..."
There's no appreciation anymore to the great games which come out every year. It's not enough for some, even if there's not the time to play each of these great games. The only worries are, that not enough" exclusive" games are coming and this whole parasitizing of the Gamepass.
I think most of the people are just unhappy with their own life.
@Ricky-Spanish I'm not at all trying to argue with you, I just don't like Gamepass as more than a benefit for sales and rewards programs. I like owning what I've purchased, and being able to play whenever I feel like it, regardless if it's six months from now or a year and a half after purchase. You don't get that with gamepass for a vast majority of content, plus the fee is getting pricy because of Call of Duty of all things.
Again, if you like game pass that is great, but I don't care for it. I known that's becoming a rare viewpoint around here.
The only first party game I’ve got interest in is Perfect Dark and the damn thing still appears to be years away.
@Elbow All power to you if you love owning games physically or owning digital games and don't like renting I'm not gonna waste any effort to convince you otherwise that's your cross to bear my friend I'll use and enjoy gamepass and buy the games I want simples you do you but gamepass is still a Great deal weather your down for it or not
@Elbow Whilst I will say Game Pass may not suit everyone, I do think some of your rationale is 'wrong'. Game Pass doesn't stop you from buying any game so its not preventing you from playing in 5yrs time for example. It doesn't stop you from waiting for those sales etc.
What it can do is stop you having to miss out on games when they are 'current'. If you wanted to play Assassins Creed, CoD and Indiana Jones but can't afford all, you can buy AC and play the others on GP.
Another way to use it is to play the games Game Pass offers until they are cheap or leave Game Pass and get the extra 20% discount being on Game Pass offers. Use it to try games too, maybe games you are unsure of or wouldn't buy. I wouldn't buy 'Indies' myself as I can often find AAA games for the same price or less I'd rather 'try' for the money.
Another way to look at the 'cost' is that its costing $10 a month just to play 'online' with 30ish games in 'Core' you can play, an extra $5 adds 100's of games and another $5 adds Streaming, EA Access, PC gaming and Day 1 access. In other words, its costing over the price of 1 new release AAA game just to play online so paying for 100's (inc some Day 1 releases), play anywhere etc is costing me '1 game' a year as I'd still need Game Pass Core to play everything I want.
As I said, it doesn't stop you 'owning' games either, it just means I can decide whether I think its 'worth' owning long term, whether or not I'm likely to return to a game or completely finished with it and moved on. I've 'finished' several games that I wouldn't return to, so didn't buy - but still enjoyed. Other games I've tried that I thought would be worth checking out at some point in a sale and glad I didn't drop money on, other games that I wouldn't have bought but really enjoyed and others I enjoyed and have gone on to buy too so I can play 'whenever'.
It's not just 'Xbox' 1st Party ether - but all the Indies and 3rd Party games too. Lies of P, Guardians of the Galaxy or even Hellblade (both) are games I wouldn't have bought - even in a 'Sale' but played because of GP and I own GotG now...
This generation I feel like BOTH XB and PS are "wait till next year" and pretty sucky if you have it just for exclusives. And I think with both of them that will change only in the latter years of the platform. Sony at a glance seems to have done better, but if you remove all the games they just paid 3rd parties $10 and a pack of gum to ignore Xbox, they haven't had much to show either. Neither company was ready to support a new console these past few years and it shows. By rights we should still be on PS4 Pro X1X and been perfectly happy. This generation was unnecessary. No games in the pipeline to support it properly, and not enough hardware upgrade to allow for really updated games.
@GamingFan4Lyf Whoa you went ahead and did the thing! Nice! Prebuilt though. What will 4chan think?
That sucks about the bad case. There's always that moment of dread when you fire the thing up and hope to not find something defective - and hope to not find it defective on either the case or mobo, the only parts that make you start from zero...
I'll be right behind I think. For the summer I'm mostly playing "handheld" and right now that means it's all PC anyway (Legion/Ally), so only thing left is to do the "big rig." The consoles have lost their magic, that's for sure.
@NEStalgia I was so mad when the case fans didn't work at all! I spent a lot of time trying to be extra careful and reading instructions carefully to make sure I did this right the first time (P.S. I didn't as I used the wrong screws when I was assembling the water cooler to the CPU and had to redo it).
I had issues with Micro Center when I went to pick up the parts to build (they couldn't find my order) and spent 2 hours in the store essentially doing what I had done online the day before to avoid having to spend 2 hours in the store.
Frustration set in and I was just "done".
I am sure the prebuild won't have the storage I wanted (Samsung 990 Pro) or a PCIe 5.0 mobo, but I can reasonably expect everything to work out of the box - unfortunately Best Buy's website doesn't give the breakdown of the exact components used.
Using Micro Center has been less than ideal. I know the case failure wasn't their fault, but they operate like a store from 30 years ago - not great in an online world and limited brick & mortar locations.
@GamingFan4Lyf Yeah that's kind of the worst case of rotten luck, though still less rotten than DOA motherboard which is still less rotten than "not DOA motherboard that has instability that seems to be windows or random and takes months to even figure out may be a bad mobo, but even then you're not certain and you know they'll never RMA it because it "works' and the only way you'll find out is buy another mobo and transplant everything to find out if that's the source of the problem."
Still, OTOH, what a weird case that even had a fan/rgb controller header onboard....more convenient for cable management (and a bit late now) but why not just use the fan/rgb headers on the mobo anyway?
Dang, most people would be lucky to have a microcenter near them. I also have one an hour away or so - to me I just consider that the Tokyo location and treat it as the same distance. Amazon is a lot closer.
I'm amazed at the pricing you can get prebuilds for these days "Back in our day" DIY was like 30% cheaper than prebuild and better too. These days seems you can get a prebuild cheaper than DIY, or at least close, albeit without the exact parts or specs you want, or some corners cut for a similar but not "as good" a part.
Yeah Micro Center seems really weird to me. What I've seen of them online the fact that they seem like they're just ripped out of the 90's with CompUSA and Computer City (miss those stores dearly) is the part that I actually love about them. And their pricing can be insanely good, and always in-store only. But at the same time, yeah, they have like a dozen locations for the country "conveniently located where you're probably not", and they ship basically nothing. I almost don't know how they stay afloat. Weird store. I want to love them but also can't.
Still that's an awfully discouraging and "return to the 90s" intro to the return to PC.
@Mustoe Prebuild comes tomorrow. I probably won't really get to give it a thorough testing until the weekend.
During the week will mostly for getting things setup proper and the weekend will be the stress test for gaming.
@NEStalgia "but why not just use the fan/rgb headers on the mobo anyway"
Not enough connectors on the mobo for all the extra fans the case had.
At the end of the day, I am better off as the Micro Center build only had a 4060 Ti 8GB due to initial budgeting reasons, but my wife felt bad for me for all the inconvenience so we upped the budget so I could get a machine with a 4070 Super (and a free copy of Black Myth Wukong to boot).
@GamingFan4Lyf IDK, I've been running a non-gaming build with 10 fans, using only 3 mobo headers, and the 3rd is only really because of cable management, it would have worked on the 2. Though no doubt, a hub is a lot (lot!) cleaner than the mess of daisy chains and extensions. I bet you'd have been fine ignoring the broken case, but it would have bothered you if you're half as OCD as me
But if it ended up with a GPU upgrade and away from 8GB, it's a net win!
@BAMozzy What I meant from that was moreso I use Game Pass to try certain things but primarily use it for the sales/deals benefits and smaller co-op games my friends want to try. Although with the price hike, the big-ticket items do start losing some luster IMO. Still, I see your point and agree with you.
@Ricky-Spanish And that's good! You're getting exactly what you want out of it and I'm glad. I was just offering a view from the other side, though granted the "other side" I speak of doesn't have very many people on it lol
