Here we go then, folks! We know we've mentioned this a ton recently, but after Monday, you won't be able to buy anything on the Xbox 360 store again! This weekend marks your last chance to grab whatever you want before it closes.
The Xbox 360 store closing date is July 29th, 2024, after which it'll permanently go offline. This will affect hundreds of digital games as well as free demos, themes and more, including many items that are exclusive to the 360 marketplace.
As you're probably aware, Microsoft has put a large number of Xbox 360 games on sale until July 29th, the full list of which we've provided elsewhere on Pure Xbox (you'll find it below). It's definitely worth looking through those - but keep in mind that many titles have since received ports for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Also, if you're worried about backwards compatible games, the good news is that purchasable Xbox 360 titles on the modern Xbox Store will not be getting delisted on July 29th. As far as we know, those aren't going anywhere.
Oh, and the Xbox 360 servers won't shut down on July 29th either! It's just the storefront that's closing, so multiplayer services will remain available. Unless you run into any major issues, you'll still be able to re-download your old purchases too.
Are You Buying Anything Before The Xbox 360 Store Closure? (456 votes)
- I'm buying loads of stuff!
- I'm getting a few things, yeah
- Possibly? Still not sure yet
- I doubt it, but you never know
- Nope, not interested in anything
- I don't have a 360 to buy for!
So, what are you getting before the Xbox 360 store closes? Let us know in the poll and comments!

Friendly reminder, for some reason, some DLCs for BC games aren't available on the modern store. So those'll be gone too.
Got some Warriors games, and Spyro, probably get the Crash Bandicoot games too. I probably have missed something I will want later, which is a shame, but ah well.
Luckily Currys have had 15% discount on Xbox codes so I have been using them. Makes the costs a lot easier to justify.
Surprised I slept on Samurai Warriors 2 though. Last chance for Xtreme Legends as it’s digital only (except for the PS2 release).
all of those final sale are sh1t
i got
Remember me £1.49
red faction guerrilla £0.74
@Utena-mobile You have to do a lot of digging. Thankfully, there are people that have already started documenting things. If you want a full list, you can check one of two sources I'd recommend:
FromTheVoid Games on YouTube, he has videos where he is documenting 360 exclusive games, and separate videos where he is also highlighting DLC that is 360 exclusive. (Even for games that are BC on One/Series, whose DLC does not appear on the newer systems for... some reason?)
There's also threads on TrueAchievements on 360-exclusive DLC. I know it's annoying to do this but I'm fairly certain the staff would not be thrilled if random URLs were being posted in comments.
If you copy/paste this exact quote into Google: "Xbox 360 digital-only content that won't be available after store closure + Google Sheet" - you will find a Reddit thread as the first result that highlights all DLC and it will also lead to the TrueAchievements thread if you want that, I believe.
Note: If you want to buy some of these, you WILL have to have a 360, because you have to search for the game itself in the 360's horrid search feature, as they "fell" from the proper stores and only exist if you search the full name exactly as it is. Weird.
I've been meaning to do this and keep putting it off. I doubt I will buy much, but perhaps a handful of games. Will have to find time this w/end.
EDIT: Finally got around to going through this and realised there was nothing on the list that I really wanted which:
1) I didn't already own
2) I would actually play anytime soon
3) Wasn't available elsewhere. e.g. new Xbox store or PC.
@Utena-mobile @Elbow This is the Google spreadsheet
Did my buying when the 360 was my main console a long time ago bye bye🧎
i’m still buying stuff since the 360 emulator on PC is trash
@Ricky-Spanish This is how I feel, I've got hundreds of 360 discs. There's a couple games that I think I might be interested in, and not only are they not on sale, they're already delisted. I got my 360 out to look, didn't buy anything, and wound up pulling Dead Rising out and playing that (holds up incredibly well).
I'll make some final decisions on Sunday, but as a whole I think I have what I wanted for the most part. My current objective is downloading all of the E3 montage trailers between 2007-2011 or however many are on there.
One last platform to own the original Resident Evil 4 on I guess, that's platform number 7 for me
@themightyant nice, thank you. I was not aware that comments could have URLs/hyperlinks
Seeing Vigilante 8 Arcade being permanently delisted, as it was never released on disc or ported to another system, absolutely crushes my soul. I love Vigilante 8. 😭💔
@Netbean the original version is the gamecube 😎
I'm going to boot up my 360 and check to see if there's anything I've missed. Hopefully it still works!
I’m surprised there are still Xbox 360s running. Yall know you’re not actually gonna play this stuff. You’re gonna hoard it til your system red rings.
@jesse_dylan Plenty of games still locked to 360/PS3 gen. Or games remastered from this gen (Batman Arkham games) are inferior to the original PS3/360 versions.
Can anyone clear up the Kinect Sports mini games that are on the store?
Are they the same games & modes that are in the full version of Kinect Sports or are they unique modes not in the full game?
I am definitely going to pick up a few games, but I am going to focus on digital-only stuff I never bought. I figure anything that's on a disc is something I could just buy whenever.
"Last orders" my ass
@Elbow I realize that, but who realistically has time to play every generation of games? Unless someone is just stuck in that particular generation, which would be a bit sad (but I’d get it… I’m fond of the snes generation… don’t boot up my snes ever tho)
Been going through the list of stuff I own and picking up the DLC fI didn't own. Also checking the games I own are working correctly.
Make sure you download any COMPATIBILITY PACKS FOR GAMES YOU ARE BUYING.
As @shoeses points out some BC games you can't buy via xbox one etc. Defense Grid is one example you can still buy the dlc on the 360 market place. So it the last chance to get that and unlock the achievements.
@Fallingshadow Any idea which backward compatible games you can and cannot buy DLC after the store closes?
I keep getting conflicting information from various places
I just spoke to someone at Xbox and they said you can buy backwards compatible DLC after the 360 store closes.
@Arcticpandapopz
Yes you will be able buy dlc on xbox one but for some reason some games the dlc is not available to buy https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/store/defense-grid/BRGZNMD482L8/0001 as I said on the xbox one store defense grid won't let you buy the dlc. So you need to check the games you own Lost planet 2 is another example you can't buy one of the map packs the others you can.
@Fallingshadow Thanks. Anyone got a list of games that their dlc doesn't show on the xbox one store.
@Elbow The list on TA, I made that. Thanks for sharing.
@LuckyKant Wow, I did not expect to see you here! I saw your thread the night before I posted in here and was struggling to recall the exact name since I forgot to bookmark it and I am incompetent when it comes to searching TA.
Thank you for making that thread, all the work put into it is invaluable for game preservation. Even just to have a written list is huge.
Gotham City Imposters (already delisted on PC)
Double Dragon II (3d exclusive, I know it's crap but I want to experience how bad it truly is)
NIN2-JUMP
Legend of Spyro
Maybe SFxT DLC
Otherwise I'm done.
@kuu_nousee Y'know, wanting to experience how bad a game is is why I grabbed Quantum Theory. Maybe I should check the couch cushions for a few extra bucks to spring for Double Dragon 2...
Check out dishwasher vampire smiles and dishwasher dead samurai if ya haven't 2 of best xbla games ever made😎 id deffo have bought em if we're backwards compatible 😭Charlie murder too although never got chance to play it.
Trust me, if the games are good enough, you'll see them again. Hoarding, for the sake of hoarding...it's mental.
@PROPS There's a difference between hoarding and rushing to fill out a collection of games you were always maybe interested or on the fence about but are about to permanently lose access to. There already has been permanent loss of a lot of delisted games over the years (BurgerTime World, one of many). It's not always about saving a great hidden gem.
There is no guarantee any of these will reappear, nice as it would be. Last call likely means the digital graveyard for plenty of these, especially licensed titles, unless backed up and archived.
It took 25+ years to get proper releases of old TMNT arcade/NES/SNES games without modifications or changes (barring some odd Ubisoft moves that also licensed the title through Konami and then upcharged on Wii virtual console NES rom/slapped on XBLA with the 2007 movie branding), and those were HUGE hits that. A good to decent game has such a poor chance of seeing the light of day again, even less in an unaltered format.
@jesse_dylan people like me that missed out on some games , and some hidden gems? then there’s games like Midnight Club LA, Fight night champion, army of two & other fun co-ops, and other games that they don’t make anymore , or games not available to play on later gens like GTA4/MGS4. couple in some original versions are better than “remasters” and reboots, so, yea. As time goes on i believe the threshold between what’s “too old and outdated” will diminish if it isn’t already , because 7th gen has aged really well and the games are really good . X1/PS4 games will still be played decades from now along with SX/PS5
Also as someone who has a PC too - PC players play across multiple gens all the time
@nomither6 sure, but snes games have aged well too. At some point, it becomes a juggling act of impossibility to even play everything. At that point, it’s hoarding a ton of games “just in case”. I say this as someone with a massive hoard of games I still want to play, much less replay or continually play.
Or maybe other people boot up a game and play for 5 minutes and circulate through their 1000s of games. But on my pc too, massive steam and gog libraries spanning multiple generations… doesn’t mean I actually play them, or certainly not all of them.
@jesse_dylan you have a point , but imo , ain’t nothing wrong with having (many) options heh. i may not play all these games but at least they’re there if i ever do , we can’t take anything with us once we die anyway 😆
@nomither6 I wish I could take my game hoard with me tho, so I could finally play them all! 😂 😭
I bought hopefully enough, maybe they will be back in the future
Why waste your money on digital things you don't own when you could have the physical copy
@Elbow Thanks. TA does suck when searching the forum. I bookmark a lot.
I prefer the news here but stats on TA.
@Dampsponge There are digital only games that are lost to time now. XBL Arcade was a real heavyweight in the 360 era. It has so many gems that will likely never reappear. Thankfully, most seem to be preserved via those methods we can't safely discuss here...
