Solid point. I haven’t waited for any sort of computer process in over a decade (well, at least on my own computer). Meanwhile on Switch, even the RAM is a bottleneck.
Yeah, that's the one thing that put me on pause: realizing that half the stuff I play on XBOX ONE X are XBLA games from the 360 era. I'd be buying a PS5 to play some PS4 games or an Xbox series x to transfer my one x library. Neither of them work with my 8bitdo controllers; so all of them Metroidvanias and indies are going to be played on my Switch. :0
Which one are you digging more so far? I was dead set on the Series X (although I’m in no rush) until I realised that the digital PS5 is a hundred less dollars up front. I’ve got a One X and a 4K tv but I play on Switch like 99% of the time.
I’m not sure what Gears game I played or if it was slipping, but I slipped out of interest in it about five minutes into it. 😂 I’ve never played a Halo game. All of the online community stuff is blocked on my Xbox. I’m just putting that out there.
I was sanding the other day and thought to myself, “How is it that tiny family owned Festool has access to way more capable industrial designers than Sony and Microsoft? “.
All things considered, I would imagine Microsoft would prioritise the PC version as a Windows exclusive before worrying about console exclusives. They make money from software, subscriptions, services and licenses. They lose money on Xboxes. I could see them doing a Game Pass exclusive move. That would possibly give them enough leverage to get Game Pass on Sony and Nintendo platforms. But, while Mr. Spencer is running things, I doubt it. He’s in tune with his customers and knows what kind of backlash that would bring.
Katana Zero is super great. I’m glad for the people without Nintendo’s that can play it now (or was it also on Steam?). All I know is that whenever I introduce a game to my friends and they all want to play it; it ain’t on their PlayStation. 😂
There was this thing that very much required you to buy (multiple) proprietary memory cards if you wanted to save your game. It was called the Sony PlayStation. Despite this, sales wise, it seemed to do pretty ok.
Just a thought: If ZeniMax/Bethesda owned Halo, they’d have already released the game, as is (and probably loaded with game breaking bugs). You’re getting all of the greatness, but now with a modicum of morality.
I think I was halfway through 2 when I figured out how to change characters. It’s been twenty years, is there any benefit to swapping out skaters or is it just cosmetic?
It is a waste of money if they already have a top end gaming rig. Those new NVIDIA cards will be about the same price and if they already have the PC, bob’s your uncle.
The downsides you mentioned did ground me, however, and reminded me why I don’t have a “gaming pc”....I haven’t owned anything Windows based since the very early 90’s. And, actually,I take that back, no, it was DOS based and I used Windows, begrudgingly.
Apple is going downhill and not up, as of recent, and so I’ve been eyeballing the Linux variants. But good lord, I can’t imagine using Windows on my own volition.
EDIT: I lied, I did build a Windows PC to run Sound Forge back when Sonic Foundry existed.
I'm liking the Phil Spencer era of Microsoft Xbox. They see something succesful and they do the same. They see something unpopular and they don't do that. They ask what the consumer would want and they immediately offer it up in spades. Their games development end may get picked on, but they're offering up Ori, Cuphead and Senua; all which appeal to me more than what Sony and Nintendo offer ('cept Zelda and HZD). And to make matters better, Microsoft be like, "What's that brah? You don't have an XBOX? Ok, well, here we'll bring you, the consumer, our dope stuff on Switch and Playstation."
Microsoft can afford to take a major loss per console sold and is prepared to undercut Sony as soon as Sony announces a price. Sony is well aware of this and may well have considered doing the same in response. Thus, we have a price standoff. $600 seems much higher than their manufacturing costs; and they're planning on taking a hit. I won't be surprised if one of them is at least as low as $400.
I’ve never played a Halo game in my life and see no compelling reason to change that. Bought a One X on clearance for Doom and now have about 30 or 40 games that will perform better for free on a Series X with the controllers I already own and everything. Sounds good to me.

Re: Poll: What Is Your Xbox Game Of The Year 2020?
Not a 2020 game, but the game I played on XBOX the most this year was Rage 2, warts (MAJOR BUGS) and all.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Dec 12th)
I’m playing Shovel Knight because I just realized I never had.

I think any adult that can manage to look at the PS5 without needing to throw up has more than delusions to worry about.

Does this mean they’ll fix the game breaking bugs in Rage 2?
