Re: So Long, And Thanks for All the Clicks

VanillaLake

I am an unbiased person with nothing against Nintendo (I have been a Nintendo fan all my life) nor Sony (I like my PS4 since I got it in 2014) nor Microsoft (I like my Xbox One very much since I recently got one), but let's tell some truth about this group's websites. I am not the only one who thinks PureXbox is/was a website without click-baits, without 40 pointless and childish entries per day like the others (more PushSquare than Nintendo Life, actually). I don't care about fanboys' wars as I don't have a 5 years-old mind inside my adult body and I don't enjoy fanboyism's stenches when I just want to read news and articles about video games. Sorry for being politically incorrect and I know you won't support my opinion but why in earth should I be hypocritical now?

@PureXbox I am a journalist with a degree and I can say that, objectively, the best website of the three is without a doubt PureXbox. I have friends on Nintendo Life and PushSquare but that's a different part of the story. Best journalism: PureXbox. The community here is also incredible, the best I've met! Not always the most successful are the best, never forget that. There are only two kinds of video games websites that are successful nowadays: gutter press websites and Eurogamer. But, hey, I hope you can change that someday!

@DRL You are one of the best reviewers I have followed in all my life and a really nice guy.

@SuperKMx You are a really good website editor and an honest and nice person. Congratulations for your principles.

Re: Deals With Gold: Forza Comes Into Focus During E3 Week

VanillaLake

@SuperKMx I didn't realised. I downloaded Doom and Dead Rising 3 demos but they both are too violent (or should I say gore?) to my personal taste, even though I am a big Resident Evil fan... I did not see Forza Horizon 2 demo on the store but I'll download it later today. I have Need for Speed Most Wanted on Wii U but I don't like it very much.

Re: E3 2016: Gears of War 4 Comes With Complete Gears of War Collection

VanillaLake

@Cyberbotv2 Glad that you remember me! I'm still on Nintendo Life and also on PushSquare (I bought a PS4 in 2014). I also bought an Xbox One (Elite) recently, thus becoming a multigamer this generation (for the first time). I agree with you about Xbox One, I feel that the company that has given me the most for my money this generation is Microsoft with the best lineup, deals and controller.

Re: E3 2016: Resident Evil 7 Announced, Heading to Xbox One

VanillaLake

@EternalDragonX "ruly sad to see such a great dev back in the 90's go to crap and ruin their franchises".

That sentence makes me think of Nintendo, to be honest.

@shonenjump86 @Gamer83 A bit unfair that it's only released for PS4 Plus members, isn't it?

I would love if they left the subtitle Biohazard (the Japanese title) from now on, it sounds great! The logo with Roman numerals is awesome, too. Wow I'm so hyped about this and I'm almost never hyped these days.

Re: E3 2016: Xbox One S Hardware and Controller Images

VanillaLake

I haven't said anything negative about the new model because my only complaint is about the design, but if you're posting an entry about the design, then I feel I can complain about it a little bit. The size, the fact that it includes the power brick and that you can place the console both horizontally or vertically are all really welcome features (PS4 does not include the stand either). Seriously, Wii U and Xbox One's power bricks are huge! I know some people reluctant to buy an Xbox One because of its size and power brick, so this model is perfect for them and it's more similar to PS4's clever design. If THIS had been the original Xbox One model, sales between Sony and Microsoft would have been very similar. I wonder why PS4 was so small while Xbox One was so big...

Okay, now my complaint. What I don't like is the white and black colour and the front. I think the original model is more elegant but of course the S model is more convenient. Of course, I won't be upgrading my Elite console (with SSHD) but this S model is brilliant, if a little too late.

@Vincent294 Actually, a 1TB model will be realeased. First the 2TB and then the 1TB and 500GB models.

Re: E3 2016: Resident Evil 7 Announced, Heading to Xbox One

VanillaLake

First of all, I have to say that the song takes all the horror away! Secondly, this is now one of my most anticipated games! Finally, the logo is brilliant.

@Gamer83 Thanks for your impressions, I have a PS4 but not Plus at the moment*

*And that makes me hate this Plus-only thing.

Re: E3 2016: Poll - What Did You Think of Microsoft's Conference?

VanillaLake

8/10. Lots of games, lots of freedom and hardware options: regular or Elite Xbox One, Xbox One S 500GB, 1TB or 2TB, a Windows 10 PC; regular, Elite or "à la carte" controllers... Many people have complained about Xbox One size and power brick and now they have a variety or hardware and controllers options.

The Scorpio bomb was a smart move. Firstly, it is a warning for those that were thinking of getting Neo thinking it would be the most powerful gaming platform. Secondly, no much information was revealed in order to prevent Sony from copying specifications.

PushSquare is going to break down as they believe Sony is God and PS4/Neo is the best gaming platform ever, plus all the multiplatform games are "PS4 games" according to their headlines. It's hard to be an adult with an adult mind these days...

Re: E3 2016: Xbox One S Has No Kinect Port, But Don't Worry

VanillaLake

Wii U does not even have an Ethernet port! Nintendo makes you pay for a separate Ethernet adapter, so I think it's nice that Microsoft is giving the adapter for free to those upgrading. To include the power unit and make the console 40% smaller is a great technical achievement already. Moreover, few people use Kinect 2.0, so it makes sense not to include additional hardware in the smaller version of the console.

@stylon The S main target are those on the fence, not the current Xbox One owners nor the geeks/hardcore players that are already anxious to buy the next generation devices.

Re: E3 2016: Conference Schedule

VanillaLake

I'll try to watch Microsoft's conference, I won't be awake for watching Sony's and I don't think there's much to see about Nintendo. I love Zelda (Twilight Princess is my favourite) and that's the reason why I won't watch any spoilers of the next game. Spoilers = bad.

Re: Microsoft Ditches Xbox One DVR Plans to Focus on Gaming

VanillaLake

It can be disappointing for some people, but I understand that Microsoft has realised how important gaming is for console owners, saying goodbye to that guy you're talking about and to Kinect futuristic features, plus including backwards compatibility. The only thing Microsoft can't change is Xbox One's dated GPU, but I bet they won't make the same mistake again.

Re: Cortana Makes Her Debut in New Xbox One Update Coming This Summer

VanillaLake

@stylon You don't need Kinect, you can use a headset.

Honestly, I think the current Xbox One user interface is the best of the three current consoles (and I have them all). However, I don't want Cortana to make it any slower, which was the reason why I had to deactivate it on my smartphone. I hoped that without Kinect, Xbox One would be faster and had additional resources for games to use, now a number of doubts have arisen.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Confirmed for Q1 2017 Release, New Trailer Uncovered

VanillaLake

I see how Playtonic is taking things from the original Donkey Kong Country game to improve the gameplay: Yooka's rolling is like Donkey standing on a rolling barrel, and the mine races are 2D-style like the original ones. The new footage looks honestly better than last time's footage and anyone can see that it's going to be a lot of fun to play. I hope it's a great success, they truly deserve it and I love this kind of games. Moreover, we Rare fans deserve some good old platforming after all this time, don't we? Super Mario 3D World and Ratchet & Clank are going to be a joke compared to Yooka-Laylee, so I hope Yooka-Laylee sales to be extremely high.

Re: Review: DOOM (Xbox One)

VanillaLake

@Captain_Chao5 "I like the way the levels play out - bonkers gore-fest then safe to explore for the collectibles (and let your heart rate settle)" It sounds like classic fun.

Re: Multiple Sources Confirm New Xbox One Hardware for E3

VanillaLake

@BAMozzy I like consoles because they are simple to use, but I just bought an Elite Xbox One console, so I expect Microsoft to support it for some time. If I wanted to have always the latest technology, I would be a PC gamer. I don't think 4K is relevant at the moment as far as games are concerned. Sure, 4K (UD) TVs are a reality but, honestly, I don't think they will be as fast adopted by the majority of the population as the 1080p TVs were. Most TV channels are sub-HD even though they are marketed as "HD", there is not a single console that easily outputs 1080p 60FPS games now until PS4Neo is released and who will buy the same films in UD? And who will buy a 4K TV now if they have a 60 inches 1080p TV in the living room (like I do)?

Consoles can't be ahead of PCs and shouldn't become PCs, although I think it's a great idea launching the whole Xbox experience for PCs, that's a very smart move, and I understand that Microsoft has to react somehow to the unnecessary PS4Neo, mostly because Xbox One was already at a disadvantage.

Re: Multiple Sources Confirm New Xbox One Hardware for E3

VanillaLake

@stylon I know what you mean, I just bought an Xbox One recently. However, Sony's unnecessary anticipation with PS4Neo and Xbox One's current disadvantages are a huge pressure, and it also opens new market possibilities (like VR). Xbox One should have been better designed from the start though.

As some users have explained, obviously, the Xbox One Slim model is not targeted at the hardcore gamer, I suspect it will have less features like missing the Kinect compatibility or some ports.

Re: Rumour: New Wave of Backward Compatible Titles Coming During E3

VanillaLake

@SuperKMx Plus, Xbox One is the only console where you don't pay again for the games that you already own. Even though I've never bought an Xbox 360, this aspect is a reality. On 3DS and Wii U you have to pay twice for the same games even though consoles are connected via NNID. On PS4 you have to pay again except for some VITA-PS3-PS4 cross-buy games. I really think Microsoft is the most generous, at least this generation. Nintendo is getting really stingy (they are really pissing me off) and Sony is somewhere in between (but fortunately closer to Microsoft).
