Re: Microsoft Replies Back to Sony's Gamescom "Shifting Message" Comment

Lol Phil.

Every big game company listens to their gamers. That doesn't make Microsoft any better than the other guys. And I'm sure it was the numbers that scared them and made them reverse everything. If it really was our voices, they wouldn't have waited till the end of June to change everything. And to be fair, you have to give Sony credit for staying consistent.

Also, those comments from House were anything but "bully-ish." That's just business.

Competition really brings out the best in these guys.

@Gamer83 But this is a different generation now. The torch can get passed and history has shown that. Just because Microsoft has been leading in sales the past couple of years doesn't mean they'll be leading 12 months from now. You have also given me no reason as to why you think they'll continue to lead, despite the higher price-point of the X1 and bad PR over the past 3 months.

@Gamer83 "Right now, X1 is the system to beat." I wouldn't say that. Pre-order numbers and surveys suggest otherwise. And the PS4 launched line up hasn't even been confirmed yet. Saying that it's "better than what Sony has" when they will essentially get the same software doesn't make much sense. X1 is also $100 more, which is pretty much the main deciding factor here.

And I wouldn't count Nintendo's software out so soon. They can pull a 3DS like turn around by just churning out their first party games. It's a Nintendo platform, so the library will definitely be strong over time.

@Sony_70
Hell yes, especially when you have to buy a couple $60 games, another controller, and a gold membership to fully utilize your system. Easily another couple hundred dollars added to the cost. Microsoft also wants to severly restrict used games. You can forget about gaming on a budget.

I don't think it's foolish to rule out the death of the Xbox One. Once the general public is informed of the DRM and price, not to many people will bother outside of the dedicated gamers and early adopters.

Right now, unless there is a change in their policies, myself and many others are hoping for the failure of the XO. I'm not a fanboy, but I am definitely against restrictions on what I pay for. The success of this thing will encourage the others to follow suit.

Competition is the best thing for the industry. It would be bad for any of the 3 to drop out. But if Microsoft plans to go ahead with these policies and they happen fall flat on it's face in the process, then good riddance. They better reconsider.
