As recently as, well, earlier today, we've been hearing more about an Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake of some sort - and now, a bunch of screenshots from what will surely be titled "Oblivion Remastered" have appeared online.
These new screenshots of the upgraded RPG have been found via developer Virtuos' website, having then been shared by multiple sources online. The Verge's Tom Warren has shared some on social media, while Reddit users have also been scouring the site and reposting some of the images:

That first social media image appears to share what will surely be the game's key art - which also gives us this project's official name. We've also heard that some of the game's mechanics will be changed, and the visuals look massively improved on Unreal Engine 5, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered seems to be the title that Bethesda is going for.
Anyway, we should hear more on this in an official capacity very, very soon - especially now that actual in-game images of Oblivion Remastered are well and truly out in the wild. There's no official release date for Oblivion Remastered just yet, but stay tuned for more details imminently.

Oh wow! These look amazing. That's one hell of a difference! I guess it really is coming. I still don't get the shadow drop though. I'd rather they just announce as part of April's second batch of GP titles.
Oh man. It really does look like a full remake! I'm so excited!
If true, and not at full price, I'll pick this up on PS5 and leave my Series S with the Classic version. Oblivion is still the prime reason I got into the 360 way back when.
Damn looks good 👏
They should really just announce this already!!
Can't wait to see what hell looks like in the game!
Don't get me wrong, looks nice but what's up with the tree density?
(obviouslty the shot is slightly different)
So is it a remake or a remaster?
That. Looks. Gorgeous.
@Fiddleroyolanda Rumours suggested it was a remake, official artwork says it's a remaster.
@abe_hikura Virtous probably did that to hit higher frame rates - they are experts in game optimisation.
Highly doubt I will play it...might be alright for those looking for nostalgia....but surely everything else is going to feel so dated...and not in a nice retro way lol
This could be one of my favorite remasters/remakes of all time if it has nothing from Skyrim. Or the most dissapointing one if it has.
please let those screens be taken at dusk or something. I need the green fields. Not brown!
I'm not sure a simple remaster will suffice for me. If the NPC's still move and behave like a potato then making them a shiny potato still leaves it as a potato. Many things we take for granted these days, and likely to be missing from a game that is 20 years old, and as much as I love Skyrim, I want more from a game than it simply looking a bit prettier...
Nothing that cannot achieved with a good set of mods. Regardless, if I was interested in an Oblivion remaster I wouldn't pay anything more than £40 tops.
MOGA
Make Oblivion Green Again
Looks great but I won't bother on console unless they revamp the atrocious level scaling.
@FraserG @Fiddleroyolanda well base on the images... i would say, it's definitely a remake !!
Good to see that's a real thing. Loved skyrim but when tried oblivion, although it's got high praise, it just looked so dated. Hopefully we do get a shadow drop this month
Why the remaster screenshots look so…. Brown and dull?????
@Fiddleroyolanda @FraserG it’s a remake that calls itself a remaster like similar games (crash bandicoot, spyro, spongebob, THPS, Dead Rising)
It’s a trend that started after Resident Evil 2 and FF7R where companies started calling remakes “remasters” if it didn’t completely change the gameplay and story
Hope they make this a wonderful remake… so much so that they do Morrowwind as well….
@FraserG Looks closer to a Crash Trilogy sort of remaster to me, if that makes sense?
Why is it so brown? Yep will keep waiting on skyblivion and using mods.
Edit: that isn’t fair so I will wait on reviews but this doesn’t hype me so far.
Remember how quickly Rockstar released the official GTA 6 trailer after the leaks? What is going on here, Bethesda? Give us the details already!
Fabulous. I loved this game and a remaster with a few qol improvements, as well as some combat tweaks, will see me playing for months again.
This is such a weird time to release it…
Hope it’s not crap.
@Benwah apart from the image of the title screen, which says it's oblivion remastered?
What is it with remasters screwing with the colour grading? I sincerely hope it’s not more sepia toned throughout.
I'll will be playing it day one when it comes out. Looking forward to it.

Worst kept secret in gaming in a looooong time. I still haven't played Classic properly, so this is going even further back on the playlist than that.
I believe it's not a full remake. They ported the game engine to UE5 so it should play very similarly to before but with better graphics.
UE5...
Well, now we know, it's gonna run terribly on launch...
