The 21st edition of the BAFTA Game Awards will be taking place in London on April 8th, and the nominations have just been announced, which include 11 for Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 - the most that any game has received this year.
Here's the list of categories that Hellblade 2 is nominated for at the show:
- Animation
- Artistic Achievement
- Audio Achievement
- British Game
- Game Beyond Entertainment
- Music
- Narrative
- Performer in a Leading Role
- Performer in a Supporting Role (twice!)
- Technical Achievement
Beyond this, we've spotted a couple other Xbox first-party titles in the nominations list in the form of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Sea Of Thieves, although there's no place for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle as the eligibility window expired shortly before it was released in December.
Despite being nominated in 11 categories, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 isn't up for the big 'Best Game' award at the show, with that one being duked out between Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Helldivers 2, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Thank Goodness You're Here!.
If you're interested, you'll be able to check out the full BAFTA Game Awards 2025 event on YouTube when it takes place on April 8th, and we'll let you know just how many wins Hellblade 2 managed to rack up from these 11 nominations.

Couldn't get into the game think I deleted in rage one day the misses and kids were being loud and I had to do that bit when the voice keeps saying focus and your fighting some dude obviously I couldn't and just got overwhelmed and deleted it and had an angry smoke!
Maybe I'll try it again haha 😂
I know this game is not everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it! I think it's well deserved to get all these nominations.
Great game, well deserved.
I liked this less than the first one, and fell of that pretty hard. Its not up for best game as there is precious little game to be had imo.
HOWEVER, I am a tech guy and appreciate great work when I see it. The technical work that went into delivering this is well worthy of an award, as are the performances of the actors. I feel there were better soundtracks to many games last year, but again this title is full of merit and deserves consideration.
I may not rate the game as a game, but given what the BAFTA's represent its nice to see such competent work getting recognition and I do hope it wins some of those titles, as its merits seemed to be overlooked by many other awards.
I enjoyed HellBlade, but it mostly made me wish there was more.. game...in it. It's an incredible universe but the gameplay is by FAR the weakest element (note that it wasn't nominated for any gameplay-related awards). With a varied combat system and better puzzles you'd have something arguably better than the new God of War games. It's fine as is, like I said i enjoyed it, but it could be much more.
Out of curiosity, @FraserG, would Indiana Jones be eligible for next years BAFTA's, or is December just not taken into consideration because it would be 2024 and not 2025? Same for the Game Awards in December this year, will that only take games released in 2025 into consideration? Thanks...
I enjoyed Hellblade 2, though I did feel that there was probably not quite enough actual gameplay to make it a great game in that regard. I would also say that I don't think the second game is as good as the first, but I did still enjoy it.
What I would say though, is that I have never taken in-game photos in any game before Hellblade 2. Some of the vistas are absolutely breath-taking, and in fact, one of the screen shots that I took is my background on my console. I don't think any game has ever looked better...
@Fiendish-Beaver Yes, it'll be taken into consideration for the next one! Should be the same situation for The Game Awards too.
Thank you, @FraserG...
My game of the year, finished 3 times!
I wouldn't call Hellblade a Great 'Game' as its Game-play is more about assisting the Narrative, adding some 'interactivity' and context to the Experience.
Its much more about the 'experience' and Senuas battle with her Psychosis. The voices seem Dynamic in that if you are solving puzzles and not getting hit in fights, the voices are more positive. It's more about the voices, the Psychosis than 'game-play' so I don't think it deserves a nomination in that category.
I think it's a great 'experience' and the quality of the Audio, visuals, Acting and as an 'experience' is certainly one of, if not the 'best' of the year and deserved the nominations in those categories, but its not really a 'game' - more an interactive experience of Psychosis...
Man what a completely forgettable time. I had blanked it out of my memory completely until just now! Ugh
Game would be so much better if it had these graphics but more fighting and freedom like god of war or assassin creed just with added puzzles
