It's been a few years now since Rust Console Edition first made its way over to Xbox One, and we've seen it consistently popping up in the Xbox charts whenever it goes on sale - so it seems the console release has done well for itself!
If you already own Rust Console Edition, or you've been wondering whether to pick it up, you'll be glad to hear a "new-gen" version is on the way for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and there's a first look at it in the trailer above.
"Catch your first glimpse of the new version of Rust Console Edition. This trailer shows real in-game footage, starting with an old gen clip (PS4 & Xbox One) and transitioning to the stunning new native version on the latest consoles. We’re excited to show you more soon!"
There isn't a release date yet for the new-gen version of Rust Console Edition on Xbox Series X and S, as the team have suggested they don't want to reveal "everything at once", so we'll let you know when we get more concrete details.
We're also keeping our fingers crossed it's a free upgrade rather than having to buy the game again!

Tried it but could not get very far, wish they would cut a deal with gamepass as I don't think I can talk my friends into buying it
@Valhura I 100% agree. It’s been out long enough, let’s bring this to gamepass for a month to tryout.
Looks like a massive transformation from Xbox One version to Series X/S. I’ve not yet tried the game but I think it would really benefit from having a 2 hour trial like Deadside did, the trial proved to really popular and probably helped the game sell a lot more.
@MaccaMUFC it's still 50 bucks on the Xbox store they need to drop the price or something to build the Xbox community
Never given it the time of day. It's one of those games I like the sound of but would probably only play it on GP.
Same if game pass I’ll be on it. Solo player so not sure how much fun on own. Sure the studio who created are local to me so should pick a copy up really
Stunning! Paralyzed? Dumbstruck?
