It's been a few years now since Rust Console Edition first made its way over to Xbox One, and we've seen it consistently popping up in the Xbox charts whenever it goes on sale - so it seems the console release has done well for itself!

If you already own Rust Console Edition, or you've been wondering whether to pick it up, you'll be glad to hear a "new-gen" version is on the way for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and there's a first look at it in the trailer above.

"Catch your first glimpse of the new version of Rust Console Edition. This trailer shows real in-game footage, starting with an old gen clip (PS4 & Xbox One) and transitioning to the stunning new native version on the latest consoles. We’re excited to show you more soon!"

There isn't a release date yet for the new-gen version of Rust Console Edition on Xbox Series X and S, as the team have suggested they don't want to reveal "everything at once", so we'll let you know when we get more concrete details.

We're also keeping our fingers crossed it's a free upgrade rather than having to buy the game again!
