After multiple delays, we're finally almost ready to check out Assassin's Creed Shadows on Xbox later this month, and the good news for 60FPS fans is that Ubisoft has confirmed there will be two graphics modes on Series X specifically.
The first of these is 'Quality', which runs at 30FPS and presumably native 4K, while 'Performance' is a 60FPS mode that runs at "2160p upscaled" and is said to provide an "impressive" experience despite the slight visual drawbacks.
"We're happy to confirm that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will allow players to play at 60FPS 2160p upscaled, in performance mode."
Curiously, Ubisoft is remaining quiet on the Xbox Series S specs for now, telling reporter Genki_JPN that they'll be revealed "later". There's obviously hope that a 60FPS mode will be implemented on the Series S, but the console's significantly lower specs suggest that owners might have to make do with 30FPS - at least at launch.
Genki's report also mentions we're looking at around a 30-40 hour main game, and double that ("or much more") when including all the side content. That's a lot of content to get through, and we can't wait to get stuck into all of it very soon! Assassin's Creed Shadows launches March 20th, with pre-orders live right now on the Xbox Store.

Looking forward to it, have enjoyed every AC game I've played. Hopefully they'll reign in some of the extraordinary level of bloat that was in Valhalla.
Excited for this game. Cannot wait. As an S owner, I'll be happy with whatever they dish my way.
It sounds like the performance mode is just running at a lower resolution and not turning off graphical features. I hope so, I have a 1440 VRR monitor and happily play "not 4k" at 6 0FPS with all the graphical bells and whistles.
Let's goooo. I can't wait! Most hyped game ever for me.
For someone who spent over 200 hours in Origins and Odyssey each (they were the only games I played for 2 years…wild I know) I’m welcoming the smaller adventure.
Excited for this one. It's looking like it could be my favourite Creed game so far.
To be honest I'd not really seen anything that made me think "wow that looks like a step up from the prior few games", so I was fully expecting a 60fps mode with quality consistent with Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage.
The screenshot above looking out over those hills is very reminiscent of many a vista in Odyssey.
@abe_hikura Yeah same.
@Cornpop76 Yeah, I bet the devs would tell us there's so and so tech in that image that older games just can't do. But to the average eye things just look the same.
Looking forward to the game though.
They’ve had enough time to polish it so have no doubt that it will still look great in performance mode.
Really excited about this one, been watching new updated gameplay videos. I am hyped. Will buy this one day one.
I hope it won't crash as often as AC Mirage on my Series X.
