Following its delay late last year, Assassin's Creed Shadows has become one of the biggest games to be releasing next month, despite what's turning out to be a pretty stacked February in the gaming biz. It's probably a good thing, then, that Ubisoft is making some big changes to gameplay in order to shake up the tried and tested AC formula.
In a new blog post from the team, we've gotten loads of fresh details on how gameplay and parkour is going to work in Assassin's Creed Shadows. We're getting dedicated climbing inputs, a proper dodge button, sped up movement speed and more here - in what looks like a bit of a hybrid of past Assassin's Creed experiences.
The post itself goes into lots more detail on all of these AC Shadows gameplay changes, including in-depth explanations and video demonstrations on how all of this will be implemented in the upcoming title. If you're into your Assassin's Creed and want to know more, we recommend poring over the details via the Ubisoft blog.
As for when you can expect to finally be playing this Japan-themed AC title, well, you've not got long to wait! Assassin's Creed Shadows officially ditches last-gen and launches for Xbox Series X|S on February 14th, 2025.
Excited for these gameplay changes, AC fans? Talk to us about 'em down below.

Ah, Ubisoft Death Knell: The Game. This should be an interesting launch.
I can't wait, man. There's not a game that hypes me as much as this one! It's the only thing I'll be playing once it releases!
This is looking better and better, the delay seems sensible. Hopefully they can stick the landing and bring some freshness back.
Definitely makes up for the one legged Tori…not lol
I’m torn on whether to get this game or not. Realistically I’m interested, but the lack of release dates for other future games leaves me on the fence for this one. If Yotei didn’t get announced for 2025, I’d probably take the risk of preordering this one, in spite of all the Ubisoft news of late.
Not getting it a day 1 but I’ll keep an eye on it. Seems like it could be fun, especially if the stealth is done right.
Don't be bad, Don't be bad, Don't be bad
I think it's going to be good. It appears they've taken the time they needed. We will see!
They have recruited experts in China to look into Japan. It makes sense that the game does not look like Japan.
To be honest the video on X is way better than I expected! I know Ubisoft is on their lows now, but man, they build maybe the best open worlds out there!
Coming from SW: Outlaws which is breathtaking can't wait to play Shadows!!
@themightyant I see what you did there. “Stick the landing” clever haha.
After being pleasantly surprised by outlaws I have high hopes for this!
You finally give me ac in Japan and I gotta be a black guy? ***** pass.
