A new report from well-known journalist Jason Schreier has detailed some of the inner workings at Warner Bros. Games right now, off the back of its recent cancellation of online brawler MultiVersus. The report goes over a bunch of WB studios and what they're working on - mentioning Hogwarts Legacy DLC and a sequel, more Batman, Wonder Woman and lots more.
To kick things off, more Hogwarts Legacy is reportedly in the works at WB Games, as the headline suggests. Bloomberg says that developer Avalanche Software is making a sequel the 2023 hit, whilst also reiterating that the previously-reported DLC for the first game is still in the works too. We have no release timeline on either of these projects just yet, but the sequel is expected to be many years away.
Another WB story most will be interested in here is what's next for Rocksteady Studios, after its high-profile struggles with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. In what's bound to be music to the ears of many fans, Rocksteady is reportedly working on a new Batman game, following the success of its Arkham trilogy on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Finally, two other Warner Bros. teams were also discussed in this revealing report. Monolith Productions, the team behind Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, has been working on a Wonder Woman game in recent years - but it doesn't sound like development is going all that swimmingly. It seems to be still in development, but "challenges following the changes in Monolith’s leadership and issues surrounding the game’s technology" mean we probably won't see that one for some time either.
The other studio touched on here was WB Games Montreal, the team that brought us Gotham Knights in 2022. After apparently working on some sort of "1.5 version that would fix some of its flaws", that project has reportedly since been scrapped, with the Warner Bros. dev now helping out on other projects like the aforementioned Wonder Woman title.
How do you feel about this detailed report on what's going on at WB Games? Talk to us down in the comments.

I saw a report earlier that said Wonder Woman is no longer using the nemesis system and will be "a traditional action game", which sounds like Warner Brothers doesn't like money.
(I'm aware there would be reasons why, if true, they'd move away from it but still.)
Even if it's a new Batman game, I don't know how to feel about that.
Please just let rocksteady make a completely single player batman ...learn the lesson of not every game needs to be live service
I just can’t with Warner Brothers anymore. Mortal Kombat has been the only series of theirs I’ve been able to hold interest in. Everything else is either mediocre, has controversy, both, or raised my hopes and dashed them. I hope others are able to enjoy however.
@StylesT Some companies have learned this the hard way.
Hogwarts was a great game. I'm surprised they're making a DLC this late in the game. Surely only a (near) game-sized expansion would do?
This news is great but they all seem so far away… Elder scrolls 6 will be out before a new Batman game
Bought Hogwarts a while back but never started it might give it a go now I'm finished Indiana Jones
Ooooh what if the new Batman takes place in the Dark Knight Returns universe.........?
Meh, it won't lol
@Lup I know what you mean. I loved the Arkham games but we got 3 from Rocksteady, 1 from WB Montreal and several spin-offs. Do we need more? While I’d take a new Arkham over something like Suicide Squad id really like to see what Rocksteady could do on a new project
@Kaloudz yeah I can’t even imagine a late game expansion. It was such a loot fest already. More useless loot?? If it was just a totally new side campaign I’d be in. But in that case you’d think they’d just save it for a new game. They had said no dlc at one point too.
I'm honestly not that interested in a new Arkham game. We already have plenty of good Batman games, let another character get some time in the spotlight. Now if it was a Batman Beyond game, I'd be interested.
Warner Bros. has so many IP at its fingertips, yet its output in recent years has been mediocre at best. And the one good game they've put out recently, I won't play out of principle.
@jesse_dylan Yeah it does seem like such a baffling gap - assuming we don't get it until late this year too. It surely only works if it's game sized - like Elden Ring's expansion.
@Kaloudz I think they'd kind of have to reinvent the wheel, too, but maybe that's their intention. I just can't picture the leveling and loot-gathering scaling any further. It was already a lot.
It was definitely a fun game though. I'm looking forward to a sequel. Just not so sure about DLC!
@jesse_dylan You're right about the loot. I barely touched it and still managed to get through the game. I wonder if it ties subtly into whatever they're doing next?
@Kaloudz that's a thought. To be fair, I would probably be pretty interested in an "erd tree" style expansion pack vs "DLC," and maybe that's what they're doing, and like you said, dovetailing that into the sequel somehow; but as cool as the game was, I don't know if I trust them like I'd trust FromSoft to get it right! I'm scared it's just gonna be MORE LOOT and not much more game. Maybe my fault for getting too into the loot. It's like a damn slot machine. can't help myself.
@abe_hikura That's crazy. That system would be wonderful in Wonder Woman game too.
Did the management that left 343i go to work at Rocksteady?
@abe_hikura Considering how much they screwed up Shadow of War, I'm not surprised.
@jesse_dylan To be totally honest with you, I don't think it even needs anything adding. I thought length-wise, story-wise, and puzzle / world map size, it was great as-is. So I'm very much with you on this, in saying that they'll more than likely ruin something that didn't need fixing lol.
I suppose they could add Quidditch...
@Kaloudz I'm cautiously optimistic. I thought the original game would be an absolute, steaming dumpster fire in Siberia on a winter day, so they've already impressed me! I liked their Mad Max game, but for some reason I still thought this one would absolutely collapse like a colon full of American fried food. And I would say I found it 90% enjoyable, other than the obnoxious Gotham Knights Destiny 2 Diablo loot system, which I suppose they'll keep. I even liked the combat, which could have, again, been an utter abomination.
That said, by the end of the game, it was so checklisty that I almost killed myself. Again, maybe a me problem.
Maybe the DLC will just tune things up and give us another game-sized thing, as you said. If it's just some added endgame content or whatever, I can't imagine bothering personally. It's gotta be an Erd Tree type of deal...
@jesse_dylan The checklisty thing wasn't just you my friend. I was exactly the same. The biggest problem for me with the game was the menus and the maps. I hated having to cycle maps when I (at nearly 40) am amply capable of zooming in one large open map lol!
Didn't I read somewhere that the next Hogwarts game will possibly tie into the new remade series? If that is the case, it'd be one hell of a time jump from the game to the series, but then, we are talking about a world of magic.
Also, was it just me, or did the "follow this line to cast a spell for the first time" feel needless - almost like it was a Switch feature? Outside of those niggles, I absolutely thought they nailed it - which they needed to, given the crap-storm that was Gotham Knights - but the loot system, as you suggest, felt tacked on.
@Ricky-Spanish I'm not exactly a Harry Potter fan (enjoyed the films once through way back when) but I absolutely loved Hogwarts Legacy. Don't sleep on it - and I definitely recommend 60fps mode.
More Batman please, my favourite comic book character by some distance. Batman Arkham Shadow is so so good but a new console game perhaps in a different universe as mentioned above would be interesting, Nolan or Reeves' vision.
@16BitHero I will bud just need to get into it and I'm sure I'll enjoy it 👍
