It's been a month now since Eternal Strands made its highly-anticipated debut as part of Xbox Game Pass, and the developer is showing no signs of slowing down with it - we've got a brand-new roadmap of content for 2025!
It all starts in March, with some serious improvements being made to areas such as character movement and combat responsiveness. A lot of this is detailed on Eternal Strands' Steam page, and here's a sample of what's said on there:
"We heard your feedback about the sometimes “slippery” feeling of Brynn’s movements in the game. Some of you described that her walking/running felt a little bit too much like “skating” and that the lack of precision could be frustrating at times."
"Based on your feedback, we did take a closer look at what we could change that might have an impact on movement precision. Through this investigation, we did indeed identify and make a few subtle but noticeable tweaks that we think improve the overall experience and feeling of gameplay in Eternal Strands."
Beyond this, a free DLC update will be arriving in Spring 2025 featuring new content developed in collaboration with Final Fantasy Online artist Yusuke Mogi, along with a new map, new magic power and various other things.
Then, in Summer 2025, more new content will arrive in collaboration with No More Heroes developer Grasshopper Manufacture, although full details on this have yet to be revealed. Additonal "secrets" have been teased as well.
It sounds like there's plenty to look forward to for Eternal Strands fans, and if you haven't played it yet, it's downloadable on Xbox Game Pass right now - you can see what we thought of it in our 'hands on' feature elsewhere on Pure Xbox.

Oh cool! I didn't realise this was going to be getting on going support, I look forward to the new content.
I was going to start this tonight, I better find something else to play until at least the 1st DLC comes out.
Free DLCs - outstanding stuff.
With ... Grasshopper!? Huh!? I wonder what this could be. Shadows of the Damned collab? No... I can't even hazard a guess. Nothing would make sense.
There's an interesting discussion with one of the Game's Director's Mike Laidlaw on the Play, Watch, Listen podcast this week. He's pretty open about the limitations with self publishing a game with a small team of around 60 (there's plenty of features they would like to add, but you can't do everything) and working with Microsoft to getting it on Game Pass.
Decent time sink this one is if you like simple fun.
Honestly, this game was probably one of my favorites that I've played the past year or so. Really well done!! I enjoyed every aspect of it and would gladly even pay for DLC for this one (but obviously I'm happy its free with GP).
