As part of PlayStation 5 Pro's launch week, Sony has revealed all of the games that will be "enhanced" by its $700 console on release - and Xbox's Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has perhaps surprisingly made the cut.
Yep, Black Ops 6 is on Sony's initial PS5 Pro list, which contains more than 50 titles that will be boosted in some way by the console. We don't have any specifics on how Black Ops 6 will be bettered by PS5 Pro just yet - all we know is that the game will support Sony's mid-gen upgrade later this week.
"Of course, crackling new power means little without immersive games to get lost in. This list is a sample of more than 50 games boasting PS5 Pro enhancements at launch, with many more to follow."
Earlier today, we covered Digital Foundry's Black Ops 6 comparison, and their initial findings showed that the base PS5 is already the best way to play the new COD, due to slightly smoother frame rates over Xbox Series X. Once PS5 Pro is out, we'd expect that to easily be the best console version of Black Ops 6 in the here and now.
All of this puts Microsoft in a bit of a tricky spot - although the Xbox owner seems to be familiar with that territory at the moment. We of course understand you want to get the most out of your game on all the platforms it releases on, but to say that the PS5 Pro version of Xbox's flagship 2024 shooter will clearly be the best way to play still sounds weird.
Anyway, the good news is that Xbox Series X and S play this game just fine, and with a Game Pass launch to boot, we can't complain too much here on Xbox. We just thought it quite interesting that one of Xbox's biggest games of the year has made it onto Sony's PS5 Pro enhanced list on day one!

Best place to play apparently.
...And this is news here because...?
BO6 runs excellent on Series X and is a part of GamePass. Can't really beat that.
Xbox will allow others to make the best hardware whilst they take the revenue. We know that’s where this is heading.
@Gabrielmpf MS own activision, have further multi platform ambitions, so it’s good to get it out there, then people aren’t constantly asking.
Will most likely mean future games like Indy will also have pro support.
Lmao eventually PS5 Pro will be the best place to play most Xbox games…
It’s like watching the Pro on the kill cam after getting mowed down 🫠
Not 100% of this, but I believe I've read there is/was a cutoff point after which all games published on PS5 have to also provide PS5 Pro enhancements. Also, what that means is a bit ambiguous (in principle, it needs to leverage 2 out of 3 PS5 pillars, or some similar marketing rubbish). Reminiscent of X/S parity I suppose.
As it's about to become a forced standard anyway, why not start with the BO6?
@FarmDog08 it hard crashed my Series X four times when playing through the campaign. Never had any such problem before or since.
@AndroidBango oh man, that's unfortunate.
Of course they will support it, it's always been a multiplatform game and Microsoft are now the ones who are raking in the profits from it.
I choose the console just like last generation the Xbox one x, with the best quality in graphics and FPS etc.
Of course this generation it’s the PS5 Pro.
And an added bonus of getting Xbox studios games being ported over to PS5 and being Pro enhanced. The best of both worlds.
Looking forward to Indy and Doom next.
@IOI
New vids on YouTube.
Just watched all the upgrade videos on line on my 65” x95l to get a better effect.
So glad I ordered a Pro. It was very sharp and detailed especially SM2 and Last of us 2.
Dragon Age looked a step up as well.
Remember I’m still watching on YouTube even though at 4K, so console it will shine a bit more.
Felt so sharp and so smooth when panning.
It’s like a double up for me as always play at 60fps.
@sixrings minus the controller maybe.
Digital sales data coming out doesn't seem positive as sales on PS have increased 30%. MS shrinking dramatically due to being on GP. Really hope they give some GP info regarding sign ups as while yes, MS get cash either way, it's hardly incentive for them to keep pushing consoles if the sign ups/sales aren't there.
And we all know that an unchallenged Sony isn't a good thing.
@Weebleman Xbox are just gifting PlayStation the hardware space and it will get worse for us Xbox fans. Sure, MS will make loads of money but more and more games will come to PlayStation and Nintendo (although I can’t see as many coming to Nintendo as even their next Switch will underpowered to run most games well) and eventually Game Pass will be a cloud subscription available on all systems.
I am sticking with Xbox as long as they give me the hardware, but I can’t see them carrying on for much longer and despite Sarah Bond saying the next system will be the ‘biggest leap ever’ Satya Nadella could easily pull the plug on that any time he likes and it’s clear he doesn’t see Xbox’s future as being in hardware sadly.
@MjJmediablogger yeah it's a weird time. We need both companies at full steam to give us consumers the best deal. It's all well and good making money off every sale, but if the bigger sales are coming from elsewhere, why waste money on more hardware. I hope they get some traction out of al this as the console space is better on both sides with them in it.
@Weebleman Agreed but sadly I can’t see it going any other way. Nintendo will always remain as they are but Xbox have set the wheels in motion and there is only one way they will go from herein.
@MjJmediablogger sad but likely true. Nintendo will always be Nintendo, and it works for them.
It plays and looks great on Series X and it's included in Game Pass Ultimate. The problem with PS5 Pro is that it makes any alternative look better, PC included because of the console price and PS Plus for online. Besides, if you already have a PS4 or a PS5, you probably need a separate disc drive for the games. PS4 Pro sold 88% less than PS4, and not only PS4 Pro was the same price as PS4 earlier, but it was actually almost worth it for 4K displays. How much will the new Pro sell? I am starting to believe that PS5 Pro is just a marketing tool for Sony and they only care about PS6.
@MjJmediablogger Although I understand your view, I think that Xbox will always have a console, as long as there is a console market, because it makes sense financially. Xboxes are basically Windows PCs. The console market is evolving. I'm sure that the handheld PCs are pressuring Nintendo's overpriced and underpowered offerings and that Microsoft has realised that they need to go there, too. Sony is following Microsoft's steps slowly, although with many drawbacks: late ports, upgrade fees, no free cloud saves, no cross-platform saves... The fact that Sony created service and mobile studios and games is telling, although they haven't found success there yet. The future is multiplatform for Microsoft and Sony and a mystery for Nintendo (based on Wii U and Switch).
@Wisegamer I understand, it all depends on your definition of "best", if you're looking for the best graphic fidelity in consoles the PS5 Pro will undoubtedly be the better experience at least until the next Xbox home console arrives, if you're looking for the best value there's no beating Xbox and Game Pass indeed.
In my case I'm still going to play Xbox games on Xbox since I got Game Pass until 2027, but I'm looking into buying most third-parties on PS5 now.
@Wisegamer that’s not true. The best experience is on the best console no matter what your financial situation is. That would be like trying to tell me a regular theatre is better than a THX theatre just because you don’t have as much money. Is a 720p-1080p tv better than a 4K tv as well?
Phil and Microsoft boss is a Sony mole
@MjJmediablogger it’ll be loads of money until the hype dies down and the only thing that matters are …… good Xbox made games which they haven’t done consistently from non acquired studios
Of interest to Playstation users only. Not sure why an Xbox site needs to publish this.
Cool beans. I’m playing the game via xCloud in 1080p/60 and I think it looks and plays great. Chasing the graphics rabbit has got us here, where games take ages to be made and gamers complain about frame pacing and upscaling instead of enjoying games. I have a PS5 but I’ll just wait for PS6. The Pro isn’t worth it in my book.
Glad its enhanced, but unless its a different game, I'm not playing it regardless of having Pro's arriving this week.
I've just read that Cod has shifted 75% of all units on PS (digital and hardware) which is %30 uplift on last year. Sony no longer gives Activision a special rate for COD, so thats a huge uplift in revenue for Sony from this title this year. Xbox sales have fallen %66, which was perhaps predictable, but I doubt a few extra subs will make up for that loss. The above figure are just UK, so maybe the metrics look better elsewhere.
I'd love to see how many extra GP signups they get this month, and how many continue to subscribe, but I doubt that information will be shared with us.
Whilst its nice to have the most technically performant version of any game, a good game is a good game no matter where or how you consume it.
£750+ to play a marginally improved version of a game that’s on Game Pass? Hmm.
Despite Phil Spencer previously stating that "Xbox will always be the best place to play Xbox games", I think they may as well enhance games for the PS5 Pro that are going to be on the PS5 Amateur anyway.
If it encourages more sales of a game on a platform they've already committed that game to, then have it I guess.
Can't say I'm bothered atall ...only can really tell a difference when a screenshot is taken and put side by side ..and then it's minimal ...will stick with my base ps5 and series x....graphics have come so far that it's just pointless these minimal jumps ..even the next gen ps6 and next Xbox..will be minimal ...only reason is obviously the games that will become exclusive to the next gen platforms
Some things will never change though...fully grown men making out there is night and day differences...does make me wonder what makes them like that ..and what's going off in their lives ...confused me even back in Xbox one/PS4 early days when apparently 1080p was night and day compared to 900p....can't say I notice that much difference from 1080p to my 4k 65 inch oled c2
Ofcourse I always get told by super fanboy dweebs I clearly need glasses then
Last month I started buying my games on PlayStation instead of Xbox. I hope GamePass succeeds and finds it way to PlayStation, but I just don’t have faith in Xbox-as-a-console any longer. I think it’s obvious Microsoft sees the PC market as their bread and butter and I have faith that Sony still has all the incentive to remain a hardware company
By reading comments somehow its a big L for xbox?
You can play cod with game pass ultimate on the box you already have VS buying $800 console + PS plus sub + the whole game to get slightly better experience that can only be seen on youtube head-to-head comparison.
Not even mentioning everyone who wanted COD already playing it, it works great on SX and its on GPU.
Feels like people are just looking to get upset from any news.
@sixrings you mean high end PC? I dont remember PC folks complaining that on a more expensive graphic card games look better but somehow its a problem with xbox that you could get as low as 399 vs ps5 pro for 699.
@Weebleman unless they abandon GP day one games which is very unlikely, they have incentive to sell consoles regardless. In the end of the day right now biggest share of GP subs are on xbox.
I dont see any reason for them abandoning the consoles. Its still a big piece of revenue where they dont pay any extra fees. Instead of listening for “insiders” we can just look at what they actually do. And they just released 3 more xboxes while reportedly working on both handheld and next gen xbox.
Its not that they dont care about console sales = its more like they dont care as much as before about console sales.
@Millionski well there is no option for Xbox users unless they go the PC route which is cumbersome to some.
