Update []: It's official, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy hits Xbox Game Pass this Tuesday (November 12th)!
"Everyone’s favorite purple dragon is bringing the heat (actual fire breathing dragon) tomorrow with the November 12 release of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy on Game Pass!"
Original Story: Just a few days ago, we published a Talking Point asking where all the Activision Blizzard titles were on Xbox Game Pass, and now it looks like we're about to get one! That's according to an official new Xbox tease, at least.
The Xbox Game Pass team on social media have posted a clip today of what appears to be the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, suggesting it's on the way very soon indeed. Here's a look at what sparked off all the excitement:
The conclusion in the comments that it obviously must be Spyro, and the Reignited Trilogy is the only real candidate for inclusion - although some are perhaps naively hoping that it means a new game is about to be announced.
We don't get Xbox Game Pass teases like this very often these days, but when they do appear, it normally means the game is imminent... in other words, we're hoping we might be playing the Reignited Trilogy at some point this week.

Ooh. I saw this in a store recently, and was tempted to buy, but I had a feeling we'd see this eventually on Game Pass.
I want to play this !💪🚬🧑🌾
Hopefully it drops today!
Good news. I never played the original games at launch but really enjoyed the Spyro Trilogy, though they are old school collection platformers, it's not just rose-tinted nostalgia.
Crash n'Sane not so much... that bridge level killed me too often!
There’s rumors going around about Silksong too. Hope that one’s real! Maybe it’s a Game Pass dump day! That’d be a way to start the week, huh?
My wife is going to be happy. She loves Spyro. I own the collection on the Xbone (and on Switch), but it’s always easier when it’s accessible digitally these days.
@somnambulance there's always silksong rumours 😭😭 we've not had any news for years but lets get the 🤡 makeup ready anyway 🤣
Article updated with confirmation that Spyro arrives on Tuesday!
@FraserG Cheers FraserG Been hoping for this
It should of really dropped today but I'm fussy I guess I'll play it tomorrow so🤷
I have honestly never played the Spyro games, so quite looking forward to this.
Faster than I expected for another Activision game! Which is a good thing. Still drip-feeding but the level above snails pace.
@somnambulance @Decimateh It would explain why the Game Awards nominees haven't been announced yet. If Silksong was to shadow drop this week, it would likely be nominated for several awards.
Already played it on PS5 a while ago, but it’s a great game so enjoy Xbox fans!
That's great. To bad I already own it on PS4, Switch and Xbox.
@themightyant hahaha that bridge level killed me but any level that remains fun after hours of retries (might as well get all the relics while it's committed to muscle memory right?!) is platforming perfection!!!
@ralphdibny After dying so often, I hadn't raged that much about a game in a while, and on reflection decided to give up, more fun games to play without risking throwing my controller through the TV
And it only took them 2 years after buying the publisher to release a 6 year old game. Woot! 😒
You can see how exciting this is for folks with 16 whole comments. Folks obviously can't contain themselves.
I am sure in general this is a net good thing but for me personally nothing to be excited for
I don't think I ever played spyro. Maaaaaybe I rented it at one point as a kid, but I can't recall. Either way, I'll check this out when I'm done with halo 2
Anyone that hasn’t played this yet is in for a treat. This is a fantastic remaster of some great old-school collect-a-thon platformers. I enjoyed my time with these games on PS4 Pro back when it released, and if they updated the games code and animations to run at 60fps I’d be willing to replay it.
FPS Boost or patch please - 30fps for this gave me headaches.
Show us your 2024 Transformers projects you cowards!
@Grumblevolcano For sure. I don’t think we’re getting Silksong this year, but I can dream!
Maybe they’re legitimately waiting for Xbox since they decided to wait so long to release Indy?
It’s a hard year for GotY. Even if my personal pick is very clear for me, the industry at large hasn’t had an Elden Ring or BotW or Last of Us that basically rallies the full industry. This is a year where things are quite divisive and sure it’s hard to pick things. I’m hoping the categories have diverse nominees to reflect the way this year panned out.
@somnambulance the Doritopope SpikeTV advertisement extravaganza and awards show will go with Astro Bot or FFVII because, you know.
@Jenkinss I certainly hope so! Rebirth is my favorite game of the year! And, alternatively, Astro Bot is a masterpiece, a platformer that competes directly with Mario.
But who knows, honestly. Helldivers was very popular and was the frontrunner for a lot of people early in the year. Even I don’t get it, it could win. Metaphor Refantazio has been something of a whirlwind with the internet gaming community too. Same with Wukong. Honestly, there’s about a dozen games that could be in the running. I do think Astro Bot probably should win, even if I’m rooting for Rebirth. I have a feeling Rebirth, much like FF16 will get overlooked largely by games that are more popular with “the internet.”
Nice to see spyro on gp. Id argue its not a stellar drop as surely most people who were interested would have already played this?
Being on GP is good news though as those people who were not previously prepared to buy or try can now do so with no risk - and thats the beauty of the service.
Its well worth a try!
@themightyant funny isn't it - I finished Crash as a kid and don't remember that bridge level being an issue but playing it again in the remake and well, yeah..... f' that.
@Scrubchub I suspect had I played it as a kid I would have persevered, but frustrating gaming like that just isn't fun to me anymore. I don't mind hard, but it has to feel FAIR.
One of the troubles is you had so few lives and if you failed more than (was it 3?) times it made you restart the level rather than starting from a checkpoint. After I quit someone said it was notorious back in the day and many people went and farmed extra lives before to make sure this didn't happen, had I known at the time I might have tried this, but I ain't going back now.
@somnambulance Looking back it turns out that Game Awards 2019 nominees were announced on November 19th (the show aired December 12th).
Taking into considering that 2020 onwards had the deadline be the Friday after the nominees are announced, it seems like they're waiting for some sort of shadow drop or they're waiting for Flight Sim 2024/Stalker 2.
@Grumblevolcano I mean, realistically Flight Sim usually clears up on some awards and rightfully so. I can see Geoff and co wanting to wait for Stalker more-so than Indy, but Indy’s had really great previews too, so who knows? I’m sure some of those industry people know if they want to include it or not. Xbox isn’t cagey like Nintendo where they didn’t let anyone touch Smash Ultimate and therefore let it slip from the Awards due to a late release date. Xbox probably has open lines of communication with TGA. I could see them waiting to announce the titles on 12/2…
Even though, man, a shadow drop would be welcome. With my personal GotY list as it currently is, it just feels like it’s missing things… but it’s not. At least not outside the last minute Xbox releases, which frankly all have a decent shot of making my top 10 as it currently is.
