Phil Spencer: I Can't Talk About Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox Status

It's been a weird Xbox journey for Black Myth: Wukong so far. The game was originally expected to launch on Microsoft's consoles alongside the PS5 release, but then was suddenly delayed back in June for Xbox specifically.

Why? Well, the developer advised that it was for "quality standards" reasons, but rumours suggested that it might have been related to PS5 exclusivity. In any case, Xbox boss Phil Spencer couldn't be drawn into commenting on the game in an interview with Game File this week, simply stating that he "couldn't announce" any plans. Here's the exchange:

Game File: Do you know if you're getting Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox at some point?
Spencer: I do know.
Game File: Are you getting it?
Spencer [laughing]: I can’t announce that.

Before anyone goes worrying that Black Myth: Wukong may never end up on Xbox, it should be pointed out that the game was rated for Xbox Series X|S by the ERSB recently, suggesting an announcement could be on the horizon.

So, when Phil says he "can't announce that", he simply might be referring to an upcoming announcement at The Game Awards, for example... at least, that's what we're hoping for. It's about time we saw this great game on Xbox consoles!

Do you think we'll get Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox before the end of 2024? Tell us in the comments.
