Halo Infinite continues to grow following Microsoft's recent 'Halo Studios' rebranding, and this month's update has delivered third-person gameplay for the very first time.
Available now in the game's co-op Firefight mode, third-person play enables some frantic Halo action from an entirely new perspective. As you'd expect, then, Halo fans have been dipping into the mode to see how it all plays out - and impressions so far seem pretty positive.
Here's a look at how third-person mode is playing out right now in Halo Infinite:
As that last post hints at, this is only playable in Firefight and custom games so far - with the dev team yet to roll out third-person play for PvP multiplayer matches just yet. PvP might need a little balance tweaking before it becomes a reality, but yep, we're pretty impressed by how third-person Halo Infinite is looking so far.
This new perspective aside, the team's latest Halo Infinite Operation is quite a biggie - adding a brand-new weapon into the game's multiplayer sandbox amongst other bits and pieces. For more info on what this SMG class addition brings to the table, check out our summary on the new weapon down below.

Cool! Now give Halo Infinite a hideously ugly, low-budget-Saturday-morning-cartoon visual makeover for the uncultured masses that think Fortnite is a good looking game.
This is a really fun feature for sure! After each match I changed to a different armor core so I could watch each one in action. Safe to say I'll probably be using Yorai more now 😎
This game disappointed me massively but 3rd person mode looks fun!
To my surprise I actually really enjoyed it but first person is still the most optimal.
This is not Halo
Will third person be coming to the story campaign?
It’s sad that such a cool addition was made when the game is already dead, I’ve been trying to get back to it but 9 out of 10 matches have bots in either my team or the other and matchmaking just won’t get rid of them, people eventually start to leave and the match ends up in a couple of players against bots.
Not bad thought it would look more robotic
