A couple of years ago now, Blizzard released Overwatch 2 as a free-to-play successor to the ever-popular Overwatch. The sequel made come core changes to the experience, namely switching to a 5v5 setup - a change that will be reversed in an upcoming limited-time event in OW2.
Yep, starting today, the team is bringing 'Overwatch: Classic' to the 2022 sequel - as a 6v6-based game mode that restricts players to the old maps, hero roster and team sizes of the original 2016 experience. Overwatch: Classic lasts until early December, so if you want to relive the launch of the first game, you better be quick!
As you can see in the above tweet, this event is leaning fully into fan nostalgia for the original Overwatch experience - an experience that some players still prefer to the current Overwatch 2 setup.
