Blizzard's free-to-play team shooter Overwatch 2 has announced heroes will no longer be unlocked through the game's Battle Pass.
In a new developer update, game director Aaron Keller announced this change would occur when the new hero Venture arrived in Season 10 (expected to launch in April). After this hero joins the battle, other heroes will no longer be locked to the game's Battle Pass, either.
Aaron Keller: "Venture and all future heroes will be free for all players when they launch. Starting with Venture, heroes will no longer be unlocked through the Battle Pass. This includes all the previous Overwatch 2 heroes."
In addition to this announcement, Blizzard is adding a new way in Season 10 to unlock Mythic Skins with a special Mythic Shop. Alongside this, Overwatch 2 will also be releasing several new maps in the coming seasons (including Runasapi in Season 11) and a new mode known as Clash.
Have you tried out Overwatch 2 on the Xbox yet? Any interest in Season 10? Let us know in the comments.

About time. Heroes and maps are the core of OW's gameplay and the 2 things that should never be locked behind a paywall.
@BBB Yes, i know that. Still consider it a bad decision because if you played OW competively you were "forced" to buy the battle pass day one as you wouldn't want to be locked out of options in a game where countering is essential to your team winning(especially as a tank).
In any case that's a move in the right direction and i'm happy it's finally happening.
hooray too late OW2 killed overwatch
One of the great changes now that Bobby Kotick is not in charge anymore.
