Blizzard has unveiled Overwatch 2 Season 12 today, and it brings a brilliant bonus for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Starting September 17, Game Pass members will be able to claim a bunch of extra content for Overwatch 2, including six "awesome" hero skins and more!
To claim this content, players will have to link their battle.net accounts with a Microsoft account that holds a valid Game Pass subscription, and voila, you'll be granted this bonus content from the above date. Here's a quick breakdown of OW2's Game Pass integration and what else is included:
"Starting on September 17 you will receive an instant one-time grant of 30 Mythic prisms to spend on Mythic unlocks, and six awesome hero skins - Cardboard Reinhardt, Turtleship D.Va, Cyberdragon Hanzo, Street Runner Genji, Bee Mercy, and Cleric Lifeweaver. These items will be yours to keep, but you’ll need to login and ensure that your accounts are linked by Oct 21 to claim them."
What's more, additional content is set to drop for Xbox Game Pass members after this initial offer wraps up as well. Blizzard says to expect "additional in-game collectibles" on an ongoing basis, including "select Overwatch 2 Shop cosmetics from prior seasons, plus a stackable XP boost".
The team says that it will give us more information on this new endeavour between now and that September 17th integration date, and in the meantime, Overwatch 2 Season 12: New Frontiers arrives for all platforms on August 20.
Will this bring you back to Overwatch 2? Tell us down below!

In other words, Overwatch 2 bonuses will get integrated into the Game Pass Perk system just like other Live Service games.
It took them buying the company to give Perks for a F2P game people might actually care about... But between the price hikes of GPU both in actual price and Reward Points needed, I'm just gonna go back to Core. I'll be saving money just buying the games I play on GPU instead of renting them.
I guess they hoping this will bring in more players. It's simple Blizzard just make an actual sequel that includes content that you said it was going to have.
"If you have Game Pass, we'll be throwing free stuff at you for the next few months on Overwatch 2."
Makes me glad I managed to revive my Blizzard account a few months back.
Oh look another ABK franchise I have no interest in.
@RiverGenie Only ones I had any interest in were the licensed ones like Transformers & Marvel. But given how things are going, I doubt they'll ever come back. Anything that's not CoD, Overwatch, WoW, or Candy Crush will be destroyed and forgotten.
Scared from the marvel rivals releases
@RiverGenie ok see you later.
@Tasuki That'll happen when you fire everyone who knew what the lore of the universe was and none of them wrote anything down.
@shoeses Unfortunately we probably won't see the Activision Marvel games since they no longer have the gaming rights anymore.
@TheSimulator That has nothing to do with Activision-Blizzard.
@shoeses yeah the online component is the only thing I woild pay for now, GPU has lost a lot of value for me given how long it takes for them to release big games. Better to just wait for a 1st party sale 2-3x per year and I'm not all about getting games at launch given my backlog.
@shoeses Every person has to make that assessment for themselves. For me, I still get great value out of GPU as I play a lot of new games, I would never try otherwise in addition to the big releases I would buy without it. As someone who never touches a game after I beat it, but also never sells games, the value in not having to store and sell titles (which is a hassle to me) is an added bonus. Throw in the fact I only pay 3 months a year due to rewards points(which I do not farm or work for, just a part of my regular daily usage) and GPU is a killer deal for me.
That said, again, if your not realizing value out of unknown games and are constrained in resources for new titles, then it might make sense to reduce down to core and focus on purchasing only the explicit titles you want.
Can I have TF2 stuff instead?
@Kilamanjaro Quite honestly aside from occasional Firefight Matches in the MCC, I myself don't even play online that much. Or if I do it's for F2P games that don't require a Sub. It's more of a 'just in case' someone I know randomly has time for a Co-op session and I don't wanna drop 10 bucks on the spot.
@Runex2121 And I can understand that perspective, but like I said, for me most of the GP games I play are either old or cheaper Indies. I've played two, maybe three max Day One games that're $60-70 in the few years I've had it so, just not for me. As for replaying games it's not that I do it often, but more just liking the option that I can long term, you know? Especially anything with Local Co-op I can throw out as an option when people come over.
@shoeses makes sense, I play a few games online with friends pretty consistently but I think the Day 1 value isn't there for me with GPU anymore. $240 a year can get me a lot of games on sale that have great reviews & gameplay without funding games I might not play / like, for example COD or Hellblade 2.
Its September 18th and no gamepass perks or rewards or marketplace listing for this said items, looking like its not coming till the new season
