Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Teases Three Big Additions For 'Patch 8' On Xbox Series X|S

The incredible Baldur's Gate 3 has received some awesome updates throughout 2024 for Xbox and beyond, and we're now starting to look ahead at 2025. Patch 8 is the focus heading into next year, and it contains some big new features!

Probably the most exciting for many of us is the addition of crossplay. When Patch 8 arrives, Xbox users will be able to play with PS5, PC and Mac users, and it'll include the ability to invite friends from any platform via the in-game systems.

Beyond that, lots of new subclasses are being added, complete with new abilities, animations, VFX, summons, cantrips and more. There are 12 of these in all, and they are as follows (more details about each are available on Steam):

  • Bard - College of Glamour
  • Barbarian - Path of Giants
  • Cleric - Death Domain
  • Druid - Circle of Stars
  • Fighter - Arcane Archer
  • Monk - Drunken Master
  • Paladin - Oath of the Crown
  • Ranger - Swarmkeeper
  • Rogue - Swashbuckler
  • Sorcerer - Shadow Magic
  • Warlock - Hexblade
  • Wizard - Bladesinging

And finally, we'll also be getting a Photo Mode in Patch 8, complete with loads of ways to customise images and get the perfect shot. That's exactly what we need to create some great screenshots for future Pure Xbox articles!

There's no date for Patch 8 on any platform yet, but we do know that the stress test (which will be available on Xbox this time) will begin in early January. If you want to be part of this test, keep an eye on Larian Studios' socials for details.
