Baldur's Gate 3 Sequel Being Planned, But Not From Larian Studios

It's no secret that Baldur's Gate 3 has been an absolutely smashing success for Larian Studios and IP-owner Hasbro, as the game has swept pretty much every awards show we can think of recently. Well, the owner wants to press on with more Baldur's Gate in the future for obvious reasons, but it'll have to do so without the esteemed Baldur's Gate 3 team.

Talking to PC Gamer this week, Hasbro says that it's "talking to lots of partners" about "embracing the challenge" of another Baldur's Gate game. The team insists it's taking its time, even if it hopes to avoid another 25 years between mainline titles.

"We're going to take our time and find the right partner, the right approach, and the right product that could represent the future of Baldur's Gate. We take that very, very seriously, as we do with all of our decisions around our portfolio. We don't rush into decisions as to who to partner with on products or what products we should be considering."

Developer Larian Studios confirmed last month that it was moving away from the series after Baldur's Gate 3, making any potential follow-up a tough one to execute following the sheer success of BG3 - after all, we scored it an "Outstanding" 10/10 here at Pure Xbox!

In the meantime, let's see how many more awards the third entry can gather before things taper off, and the speculation for what comes next really kicks into gear.

Is there anyone in mind that you'd like to develop a new Baldur's Gate title? Drop your ideas down below.
