It was back in June that The Thing: Remastered was first announced for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and although we hadn't heard much since, Nightdive Studios has treated us to a brand-new trailer this week!
You can check out that trailer up above, which includes snippets of cutscenes and raw gameplay. Nightdive is the studio behind many incredible remasters (Quake 2, Dark Forces, etc.), and apparently The Thing: Remastered features some of the company's "most impressive visual upgrades to date". Here's a bit more about what to expect:
"In addition to improved models, textures, and environments, new dynamic lighting, and 4K resolution at 144 FPS, we’ve worked with the original development team on an assortment of gameplay improvements."
There's still no date for The Thing: Remastered yet, but it's been reiterated this week that it's scheduled for a release "later this year". We've only got two months left, so we're assuming we'll be playing it very soon indeed!
Did you ever get a chance to play the original 2002 version on the original Xbox, and if so, what did you think of it? Will you be getting the remaster when it arrives? We'd love to hear from you down in the comments section below.
What do you think of The Thing: Remastered's new trailer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Love the film hopefully it's good never played it when it was out first!
Yes! I absolutely loved this on the OG Xbox back in 2002. I’m really looking forward to this remaster, there isn’t a game out there like it with it’s unique fear/trust system where you don’t know if an NPC is a human or an alien impersonating as one. It definitely keeps you on your toes and makes you constantly watch your back around them.
I don't usually support remakes and remasters, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little interested. Back when this game came out I was young and didn't even know who Carpenter was.
Years laters, I really like the guy's work and have been in a Carpenter mood lately.
Would prefer to have the original on the store though.
Loved the game years ago. Really looking forward to replaying this game again.
always wanted to play this, looking forward to the remaster
Loved the game back in the day but it is a little short by today's standards
Missed this back in day but looking forward to this. Love the film
