Looking around the Xbox charts today, we were pretty surprised to see that the "Top Free" game in the UK right now (not including all the recent downloads for the Black Ops 6 Beta) is Hamster Playground, which released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S to very little fanfare back on July 11th, 2024.
There are a few other new entries in the list as well, such as Snooker Blitz from the team behind Pool Nation FX and Pool Blitz in recent years, along with the fast-paced MOBA-meets-FPS Predecessor, which shadow dropped at Gamescom 2024. The likes of Aimlabs and obviously VALORANT are also part of these recent-ish hits.
So, let's highlight all five of these free-to-play Xbox releases, shall we? Obviously there are many other FTP titles to discover on Xbox right now, but we haven't seen anything more recent since Snooker Blitz arrived on August 29th.
Hamster Playground
Prepare for cuteness overload, relentless training, and fierce rivalry as you and your hamsters take on challenges while traversing the maze and riding a skateboard, with more modes coming soon! Be the first to cross the finish line to earn rewards and yummy treats!
Snooker Blitz
The world is ready for a truly unique snooker game! Challenge your friends, enter snooker tournaments, and go head to head against other players in real-time. Shoot snooker with ultra-realistic physics, breath-taking graphics, and have more fun than you’ve ever had in real life!
Predecessor
With more than 30 Heroes to choose from, each with unique and devastating abilities such as shooting through walls, turning invisibile and raining down rockets from above, there's more than one way to take down your opponents! Hit your lane and push the enemy objective, taking down towers as you battle to destroy their core all while protecting your own. Predecessor plays like a traditional three lane MOBA, but with genre-redefining elements such as an immersive third-person perspective, high quality graphics and game-changing map verticality.
Aimlabs
Aimlabs is a training platform to help sharpen up your core FPS aiming skills. Aimlabs offers a comprehensive set of tools to improve your aim, regardless of which FPS you play. It provides curated training scenarios that will turn you into an aim God in no time.
VALORANT
VALORANT is a character-based 5v5 tactical shooter set on the global stage. Outwit, outplay and outshine your competition with tactical abilities, precise gunplay and adaptive teamwork. Game Pass members can link their Xbox profile to their Riot account to unlock all current and future Agents.

Why do UK MFers call Pool, Snooker? LMAOOOOOOO
Predecessor is amazing, best moba experience on console, and by far superior to smite in every way even on pc, coming from a guy with +2000hrs across dota, lol, smite.
I have no idea what to make of Hamster Playground, but it's adorable so I can't blame anyone for checking it out.
@HeavyHoggJP Cause there's a difference
@HeavyHoggJP literally two different games mate.
@HeavyHoggJP they are two different types of table games,
@HeavyHoggJP pool isn't snooker. They're both played on a table with cues and balls but they're different, just how poker and solitaire (or Klondike, if you prefer) are both played with cards but are different games.
Hamster Playground......this is the game they brought up when they wanted to justify game pass prices, Hamster Playground. As long as someone defends it, I'm wrong I guess
@Evilinsane teach me how to play snooker bro
@HeavyHoggJP you got your red balls and your coloured balls. Red balls are put in a standard triangle and worth 1 point and there are 15 of them. The coloured balls are placed on specific points on the table and are worth more - yellow is 2, green is 3 etc in the order of yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, black, which is worth 7 points. You can't pot a coloured ball until you pot a red ball first, and if the balls are potted out of order (other than red), they are put back on the table. So if you pot a red and then a green while the yellow is still in play, the green is put back on the table where it started. So if you're damn good, you can pot a red, black, red, black and so on until all reds are gone and then you pot them in order (yellow, green, brown etc) until the table is clear for a maximum of 147 points.
Of course, that never happens. Other rules are shared with pool like foul balls for potting the white, which gives the opponent a "free ball". Fouls give points to the other player, so you don't lose points, your opponent accumulates them. Games are played in "frames" (a single game), which are odd numbers (such as best of 3 or best of 9) and you must win more than your opponent to win the match.
You dig?
@Evilinsane Thanks babygirl i will try it out sometime.
