Original story: Here at Pure Xbox HQ, we're quite looking forward to Microsoft's upcoming Tokyo Game Show livestream - the team has delivered some interesting announcements there in recent times. However, one company that will no longer be delivering a TGS showcase is Ubisoft; the team has decided to back out of the event at the last minute.
Posting on Twitter just yesterday, Ubisoft Japan has has cancelled its previously planned TGS livestream due to "various circumstances". The broadcast was set to showcase brand-new Assassin's Creed Shadows footage, alongside updates for already released titles like Star Wars Outlaws and XDefiant.
Beyond this 'various circumstances' translation here, we really don't know why Ubi has decided to cancel at such a late stage. In any case, AC Shadows is probably the big miss here, given that it was the only unreleased game in Ubisoft's planned schedule.
No matter though, Xbox is still on track to deliver its big Tokyo Game Show broadcast for 2024 this week. We're expecting a Japan-focused show of course, with fresh Xbox Game Pass announcements and more during the Microsoft livestream.
