Look, Elden Ring is a hard game – it's designed that way.
Even so, many people have expressed the opinion that the final boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is too difficult to beat, and that has predictably impacted their enjoyment of the DLC.
If you're one of those people, then don't feel ashamed or inadequate – FromSoftware has listened to your cries of anguish and has nerfed the final boss (the name of which we won't say here, as it might spoil the DLC for those yet to play it) in update 1.14.
Here are the full list of changes relating to the final boss battle:
- Changed the action pattern when the battle starts.
- Adjusted some attack moves.
- Decreased the damage of some attacks.
- Decreased stamina damage of some attacks.
- Decreased the attack range of some non-weapon-based attacks.
- Improved the visibility of some attack effects.
The patch also includes PvP-exclusive balance adjustments, general balance adjustments and bug fixes.

I played through the entire base game and the entire DLC without having to change my build, then I got to REDACTED and I just wasn't even remotely close to making progress after hours and hours. Had to respec for the first time to finally beat them, wasn't happy about it. I'm glad I can say I beat it before getting nerfed but it really did need a massive nerf, the attack chains were beyond absurd for anyone other than parry gods.
I loved the base game and had 100% it but didn't enjoy the dlc at all, didn't even finish it as I got bored and moved onto other games.
Just at the end of the base game can't wait to jump onto the dlc best game I've played this gen!
Boooo! I need to catch up.
I was at the last boss in Lies of P when the devs patched him...the same day that I beat him. I'll never know if I fought the real boss. LOL
@theduckofdeath You did beat him patch or not you whooped that ass!🤺
