Over the last few days on social media, a brand-new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 mod has been spreading like absolute wildfire, so much so that it's propelled Modern Warfare Remastered — the game it's built off — to Steam's top premium game in the UK right now.
This 'H2M' mod completely overhauls 2009's original MW2; effectively remaking it in the Modern Warfare Remastered engine. Of course, we got a glimpse of something similar on Xbox with Modern Warfare 2's campaign remaster a few years ago, but this is the full game - multiplayer and all.
Here's what the mod looks like in action:
This Modern Warfare 2 Remastered mod arrives for PC players on August 16th, and as we previously mentioned, its impending arrival has done absolute wonders for the original Modern Warfare Remastered game. Behind Steam Deck and the free-to-play CS:GO, MWR is third in the UK's Steam charts right now - by overall revenue.
While this is an unofficial mod that is in no way affiliated with Xbox, we can't imagine they'll be too displeased by it causing a massive uptick in Modern Warfare Remastered sales. Maybe, just maybe the team will see this and ponder an official MW2 remaster. Our nostalgia-fuelled bias would absolutely love that to be a future Call of Duty release!
In other incredible mod news, Fallout: London has been a super popular release in recent weeks, with some fans even suggesting that it's the best Fallout experience since New Vegas. A bold claim!

I wouldn't want a MW2 remaster for the sole reason we've already got so many confusing versions of that series. There's MW, MW2, MW3, MW, MW Remastered, MWII, and MWIII!
I wouldn't want another Modern Warfare, they should do a new 1 and call it something different
This looks proper amazing! But sadly I can’t even play it because I don’t have PC. This would print money for Activision so I never understood why they didn’t do this like they did for the original Modern Warfare.

As one out of maybe, like, 7 people on the planet who only ever touch Call of Duty for the campaign, I was thoroughly puzzled by what this was for. In my head, MW2 had a perfectly adequate remaster that came and went fairly unremarked upon years ago.
Took me a minute to remember that I'm not the target audience for this stuff, and the MP is actually a big deal to a lot of people. It didn't even properly register to me that it was gone from the "campaign"-remaster until today.
Was the MP of MW2 held in particularly high esteem? A mod like this is a real labor-of-love, so it's obviously nifty for those who have real nostalgia for that game specifically.
