Update (Mon 2nd Sep, 2024): Microsoft has now begun revealing some of the games leaving Xbox Game Pass in September 2024, so we've updated the table below - and we'll continue to do so as the month rolls on.
Original story (Mon 5th Aug, 2024): What's leaving Xbox Game Pass in September 2024? Well, Microsoft hasn't confirmed anything just yet, but based on some games that were added to the service this time last year, we can at least make a few predictions ahead of time.
We know that a lot of Xbox users want more advance notice of games leaving Xbox Game Pass, but Microsoft understandably gives us around two weeks right now - and don't forget, publishers sometimes secure late deals with Microsoft to keep their games on Game Pass, even after they've been announced to be leaving!
So, before we take a look at the following list of potential games leaving Xbox Game Pass in September 2024, we want to stress that nothing has been confirmed yet, and this will not be a 100% accurate list by any means. Some of these games might leave, some of these games might stay, and many others might be added to the list.
The most common (but definitely not the only) trend with Xbox Game Pass seems to be that games stick around for one year, so we've gone back to September 2023 to look at the games that were added to Game Pass at the time. That said, we've also added a few games from the September 2022 list as well. Based on those original announcements, here's what we think could potentially leave Xbox Game Pass in September 2024:
Date It Joined Xbox Game Pass | Game | Platform |
September 6, 2022 | Disney Dreamlight Valley | Console, PC, Cloud |
September 13, 2022 | PC | |
September 14, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
September 15, 2022 | Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Seems unlikely?) | Console, PC, Cloud |
September 22, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
September 22, 2022 | Console, PC
September 29, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
September 30, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
September 5, 2023 | Gris | Console, PC, Cloud |
September 13, 2023 | Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition | Console, PC, Cloud |
September 14, 2023 | Solar Ash | Console, PC, Cloud |
September 19, 2023 | Lies of P | Console, PC, Cloud |
September 20, 2023 | Party Animals | Console, Cloud |
September 21, 2023 | Console, PC, Cloud
September 26, 2023 | Console, PC, Cloud
September 29, 2023 | Cocoon | Console, PC |
As usual, there could be plenty of additions to this list, and a few of these games might stick around for Xbox Game Pass for even longer, but it seems likely that we'll lose at least some of these in September 2024. Our predictions usually turn out to be anywhere from 30%-80% correct - you never know how accurate they'll be!
It's obviously still very early days for Xbox Game Pass in August 2024 as well, with many titles set to arrive and depart from the service in the coming weeks. We already know of four titles leaving Game Pass on the 15th of the month, and some of the new additions include Creatures of Ava and the superb Mafia: Definitive Edition!
Which of these games do you think will leave Xbox Game Pass in August 2024? Tell us down below.

If someone hasn't played Lies of P yet, don't miss it, it's a great game.
Cocoon is absolutely brilliant. Not a long game either, so totally worth attention for everyone who hasn't played it yet.
Nothing that really interests me, fortunately.
I gotta finish Lies of P
The tentative dates that I can see is Disney Sep 1, Parking, Slime 2 and Spider are Sep 15, Payday 3 Sep 16, Paw Patrol and Ace attorney Oct 1, and Solar Ash and Lies of P are March 16, 2025. The rest of the others have no information.
My niece (3) and nephew (4) are obsessed with paw patrol grand prix. I hook up a steering wheel and they play it for hours. Hopefully gamepass either had a longer deal or they find a way to reup for a longer stay.
You Suck at Parking might be my most played Game Pass game of all time. I was playing the multiplayer with friends for a very long time.
Ah well, time to admit my guilty pleasure then - I've played Dreamlight Valley since it came on to Gamepass. I find it's the perfect cozy chill out game, and I pop in to my little village most evenings, at least to see what Scrooge has in his shop.
As a 51 year old man, it's not something I would have thought I'd be into, but I'm none too happy with the idea of losing my wee town, so I guess that'll be a purchase. 😅
Lies of P would suck if it left, but to be honest I would likely buy it.
Cocoon is BRILLIANT and highly recommended to anyone with a passing interest. Gris is also a simple but beautiful platformer.
This is getting annoying. I don't have a lot of time to game. After this same topic of last month I quickly started playing Sea of Stars, which eventually wasn't removed (yet). I'm not even halfway through that game and now another two games on my backlog (Lies of P and Cocoon) are mentioned. Would be a shame to miss out on them, but I won't even finish Sea of Stars before the end of this month.
Lies of P is well worth the time if you guys haven't tried. Cocoon was also excellent and quite short, so plenty of time to complete it.
Also found Gris interesting, but might not be everybody's cup of tea. It's quite a short game too, so if you're into that kind of "sub-genre" you might wanna give it a try.
Also liked Phoenix wright, but only managed to play the first one so far. Unlikely I'll play the other two if it goes next month, but might buy at a reasonable price.
I see others mentioning Sea of Stars (which for now is not on the list, but was! (thanks for pointing out), which I also played, but unfortunately found it quite average. I enjoyed the world setting and some aspects of it, but I found the story writting, in particular, to be quite poor.
@Stamnoso It was on last month’s list, so I’m still afraid it might leave anytime now. I find it excellent by the way, also the storytelling.
@Darude84 Yeah, I know, it's bad when you feel your fighting against the clock on a GP title. Hopefully you'll find time to complete it.
Glad to hear you're enjoying it, maybe part of it is my own fault. Maybe I had too high expectations or I simply wasn't on the right mindset. Whatever it is, it didn't resonate with me in the same way other old and recent titles have (e.g. Chained Echoes), which is a real shame. I just couldn't find myself caring about what happened to the guys, that said I thought it improved significanltly for me on the last 3rd of the game.
But many people has and is enjoying SoS, it's brilliant your're one of them, I wish I was as well. Anyway, that's the beauty of gaming too, there's something in there for all of us.
Next time we see each other on a topic and you have completed the game, let me know how you felt at the end. Always keen to hear a fellow gamer view
@Stamnoso Will do! And mindset can indeed also change the feeling you have with a game. Sometimes I just feel too rushed to absorb a game. Other times the game simply isn’t for me. Luckily we have no shortage of games to play nowadays.
Lies of p will be back they always come back!
@FatGuyInLilCoat same!!
@LaurenceJ1987 it is! I just got stuck in one of the later puzzles though, so I stopped playing weeks ago. My brain couldn’t function 😂
@Eejay it’s always a pleasure to read from others who find enjoyment from playing a video game, no matter the age and genre 🥳
@AM2fl4m3 Yeah, it gets crazy tricky towards the end. I was so pleased to figure it all out! It's worth going back to if you can, especially if it is announced as leaving Game Pass soon.
