Developer Remedy Entertainment has just released another financial report this week, as it sums up the last six months of business and what's next for the team. In that report, Remedy talks about its upcoming games pipeline - delivering some insightful updates on Control 2, Max Payne 1+2 Remake and more.
First of all, Control 2. The upcoming sequel, announced for Xbox Series X|S back in 2022, is now "in playable form" as the team reaches the "production readiness stage". This doesn't necessarily mean the whole game is playable back-to-front (we're sure there's lots to tweak and change yet), but the team has reached an important milestone as it tests "several important features in playable form".
"Control 2 has progressed to the production readiness stage. The development team reached an important milestone in delivering a build of the game showcasing several important features in playable form. This has supported the ongoing business negotiations. The development team is working towards scaling up the production of the project."
Elsewhere, work is progressing further on those Max Payne remakes. That project is now in full production as the team works towards "developing the game to an early functional state from beginning to end". Remedy's third main title for the moment, Project Condor, is also in full production as the team continues to playtest its upcoming Control spin-off.
While Remedy seems to have a handle on what's to come after the fantastic Alan Wake 2, then, it hasn't figured everything out just yet. When it comes to future Control and Alan Wake releases, Remedy is still "weighing self-publishing and related business models" up against "discussing different partner publishing opportunities". Its last game was published by Epic Games, so we'll have to see where the team goes from here in terms of release model.
We like how open Remedy is with its development projects though, and we hope to see some of these games in action soon - especially Control 2. Before any of this comes to market, we've got the second and final Alan Wake 2 expansion on the way, with 'Lake House' expected to release later this year.
