Shortly after the launch of Alan Wake 2, developer Remedy commented on how it was "excited" to press on with its Max Payne remakes - and a new financial report gives us a hint at what exactly we can expect from the team's sprucing up job when it launches on Xbox.
Remedy CEO Tero Virtala says that Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake will have a similar development budget to 2023's Alan Wake 2, and that as a result these remakes "are going to be a major new game with great potential" (thanks, gamesindustry.biz).
Current franchise owner Rockstar is also working closely with Remedy on the remake, which is also good news. Anyway, we're looking forward to seeing some footage of this project, which hopefully isn't too far off now that Alan Wake 2 development is just about wrapping up. Virtala also commented on the team's development timeline at the moment:
"We expect Condor, Control 2, and the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake projects to advance to the next stages of development during the first half of 2024"
Given that Alan Wake 2 was a real looker with some fantastic tech behind it, we're quite excited by these comments, to be honest. We're still not exactly sure what we're getting with this remake, but, an AW2-level budget sounds pretty bloody good to us!
