Post-apocalyptic FPS Chernobylite has steadily grown since its Xbox release a few years ago, and in the wake of developer The Farm 51 dropping its final update for the game last month, a surprise sequel has been announced!
Yep, Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone has been revealed for a PC and console release in 2025, with the team aiming to "blend open-world combat, crafting, team and base management, and nonlinear storytelling into a compelling and realistic post-apocalyptic action-RPG" next year.
"Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is a post-apo action RPG game, mixing free exploration of a huge and extremely realistic open world, challenging combat, unique crafting, team and base management with non-linear storytelling.
You’re a planewalker who travels through parallel worlds in search of the precious, high-energy material called Chernobylite. Cut off from the world, trapped in the Zone, attacked by hordes of nightmare creatures, you must fight for survival and unite the handful of remaining survivors."
The team says that it's listened to the "vast amounts of feedback gathered on Chernobylite", and is using that to inform its upcoming sequel when it comes to Xbox. We'll drop some of the developer's 'key features' down below, so you can get an idea of what's coming to Chernobylite 2 in 2025.
- Create and develop your hero. Attributes and skills will affect the combat and the style of conversation.
- Adapt your build and equipment to the situation with planewalking, which allows you to change things on the fly.
- Fight for survival with an advanced melee combat system, or keep your enemies away with a diverse arsenal of firearms.
- Explore the big and realistic open world of the real Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. Chernobylite has taken over the zone, transforming it completely.
