Well folks, this is it. After months of waiting — and a healthy list of discounts along the way — Microsoft is officially closing the Xbox 360 marketplace today, July 29th. The console that revolutionised online gaming and transformed the way we buy and play games loses one of its most core features in 2024.
As for the specific timing of the Xbox 360 store shutting down, nobody knows 100%. Microsoft hasn't provided us with any other details beyond today's date - although former Xbox exec Major Nelson has speculated (as of around 12 hours ago) that we're in the final 24 hours or so of the storefront being accessible.
With that being said, right now is probably a good time to browse the store and see what else you may want to pick up, add to your account and maybe download to your console. To be clear, purchases will be re-downloadable on your Xbox 360 console for the foreseeable future, but anything not tied to your account will be gone forever in just a few hours!
So, we'll drop a link down below to our final sales roundup for the old Xbox 360 store - this is the full list of games currently discounted ahead of the marketplace going offline later today. We'll also throw another handy PSA down below which breaks down exactly what's staying and going relating to Xbox 360 content in 2024.
Go ahead and discuss the Xbox 360 and its imminent store closure down below.

I brought another 4 games this morning and a bunch yesterday and the last few months. I seem to spot something else to buy everytime I look through the store.
Last minute buys were Dark messiah might and magic, Backbreaker vengeance, a bunch of the WWII airplane games, Street fighter X Tekken, the bears expansion for kinectimals and a bunch more.
The 360 was definitely one of my favourite times in gaming before everything got season passes, live services and games that last a year and then get shut down.
Thanks for the great memories 😌
Im glad it's the end hopefully more interesting articles will be up after all these 360 store closure ones I loved my 360 back in the day but thats back then I couldn't care less about the store now to be honest time moves on🤷
I have some great memories with the 360, but I had no idea the 360 marketplace was still a thing.
Can anyone post a link to a list of BC games that are not available to buy on the modern store that might get lost in this shut down please?
Also a list of DLC that's not available on the modern store but where the game it's for is available to purchase on the modern store please.
Welp, We knew this was going to happen but it’s still weird for the Xbox 360 store to shut down to be honest. Amazing that it’s lasted this long.
Yes a sad day for the 360. but at least there are some big game bargains. unlike when the WiiU store closed as it was mostly indies getting the discounts.
past week i have bought.
Star Raiders - hard core shooter
Yars Revenge
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 5
Red Faction Guerrilla
Street Fighter X Tekken - fun game
The Evil Within
Dark stalkers collection
some DLC for the Original Tomb Raider reboot.
and all for about £20 total.
Shame some of the other publishers didn't get in on the act.
Koei Tecmo still wanting full price for their titles.
many could have taken a leaf out of Capcoms book.
Happy 360 gaming everyone.

@Scummbuddy thank you, appreciate it.
still looking for one of the games that are BC on xb1+series but can only be purchased on the 360 if anybody else can help?
The console that really introduced me to the Xbox Ecosystem. Such fond memories of purchasing games from the store, but to be honest I wasn't into purchasing digitally at the time so most of the games I wanted I got physical copies of. Yeah there were a few I did by digitally like the TMNT and Simpsons Arcade games but other then that. Still it is an end of an era.
Goodnight sweet prince you will be missed.
I sorta realized there is no point in digging out my 360 for this. If I haven’t bought and played a game by now, I didn’t have enough interest.
@ralphdibny Hey mate. Here is a link to a fan made spreadsheet that I believe lists all the X360 unique delisting and whether they are available on XONE / PC, and whether there is a physical copy.
@Ryu_Niiyama I came to a similar conclusion. I went through the lists and realised I had everything I REALLY wanted that was unique to X360 and couldn't be bought elsewhere. And anything else would be so far down my backlog i'd never actually get to it, it would be buying for FOMO's sake only.
The slightly tougher one is DLC as it's unclear which is still purchasable on latest Xbox store. But to be honest, i'm good. No shortage of things to play and if I REALLY ever wanted to play something that badly i'm sure there will be a workaround through emulation or similar.
@themightyant thank you. 👍 Appreciate it!
Just wanted to update everyone since I haven't seen it elsewhere yet, even though the marketplace is down now, you are still able to use the Avatar Store and view game pages from the marketplace as long as you have the game installed. Buying DLC still works this way too and presumably for games you've pinned or have demos for. I should have pinned the entire library then 😂 Also, man that new 360 Dashboard is eerily empty. Well, happy gaming to those who still enjoy their 360, see you out there!
Edit: And I guess they removed buying stuff through a games page in the marketplace now
I'm still grabbing a few games here and there. Really frustrating that Microsoft's OWN games that are not BC are not on discount. There's no reason for that.
I was going to get some Rockband DLC, but I changed my mind. The 360 was an amazing console and I have great memories with it, but at this point, it’s just a matter of time before my console shuts down for the final time. So I’ll savor the DLC that I have already. Thanks for the memories. Loved those midnight jam sessions in college on my Matte White Xbox 360.
@Elbow I believe every single Xbox 360 game that wasn’t BC should have all been at least 50% off. Only reason I can see why MS didn’t discount their own first party games was them banking on people who really wanted them would pay the full price before they were gone forever but I think they would of sold a lot more if discounted though. I didn’t want anything as I’ve had my fill with the 360 many years ago and also I haven’t owned a 360 since the Xbox One launched.
Just had a quick look at the 360 store and it really has gone, with a select few non-BC 360 games still showing on the current store but saying it’s unavailable to purchase. It’s an end of an era but what a good run it had.
@themightyant plus many of the games I might buy are BC and still available. But most are just oh I could get this so I can retire my discs.
