Microsoft's latest Xbox Insider patch notes are now live — for Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead users — and there's an interesting note tucked in here about sales and promotions. The team is using its Insider program to bring users 'improved sales information', "making it easier to identify sales and take advantage of them".
At the minute we don't have much extra detail on how this will go down, and for now, the update is only live for "a random subset of users". Hopefully, once this expands to more Insiders and eventually the wider Xbox user base, we'll see exactly how Microsoft wants to improve this aspect of the Xbox experience.
This new Xbox Insider patch also includes controller improvements, alongside more detail on Microsoft's plan to make switching between different wireless networks a much easier task. We'll drop more information on the update's new features down below.
Xbox Insider Update - New Features And Experiences
We have exciting news! Xbox Insiders can expect something new coming to their Xbox Update Preview.
Controllers
We're releasing a new version of the Xbox Wireless Controller firmware today which contains various fixes and improvements, including:
- Fixes to address the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 paddles remaining active with the default profile.
- Fixed an issue with unexpected input behavior when using a 3.5mm and USB joystick together with the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
If your controller needs an update, you will be prompted to install it once the controller is powered on and connects to your console. You can also open the Xbox Accessories App to install the update manually if you missed or dismissed the prompt.
Improved Sales Information
Finding a great deal shouldn't be difficult, so we've made it easier. With today's update, a random subset of users will notice an improved experience, making it easier to identify sales and take advantage of them. In addition to searching the Microsoft Store, more information regarding sales will now be visible when selecting a game on Home and when searching from Home or the guide.
Manage Wireless Networks
If you ever connect your Xbox console to more than one wireless network, we have good news! The network settings will now allow users to remember up to 10 password-protected wireless networks. To get started, head to Settings > General > Network settings > Manage wireless networks. To remember your current wireless network, disconnect first or just set up a wireless network then choose your network from the list again. You will see a new option to remember the network when entering your password. Once you have some wireless networks remembered, you can navigate back to Manage wireless networks and select Manage remembered wireless networks to Activate or Forget them.
Note Only one remembered wireless network can be active at a time. If you're trying to switch between remembered wireless networks, just head back to Manage remembered networks and select Activate to get connected.
Search - People
Today, a random subset of users will be able to search for People directly from the search experience in Home or the guide. To check it out, start by searching for a Gamertag, then navigate to the new People tab.
Do you have any issues with the current sales system on Xbox? Tell us where how you'd improve it down in the comments!

"We just closed great studios today, but here's how you can easily spend more money on our store, Insiders!"
Yeah, probably not the best day to report on anything seemingly positive about Xbox today - especially if it involves ways of giving more money.
The whole division should just go on a press release sabbatical for a couple of weeks.

I totally agree. Today's news is so terrible that is really hard to give a damm about anything or anyone related to Xbox management. Unless it's an announcement about the affected staff being absorbed in the greater Xbox Game Studios.
Probably should have held on this for a few weeks.. it will only anger people more, I know it does me.
What is this, a threat to buy more games before they shut more studios?
I swear, Team Green's comms are so confounding. Everywhere I have ever worked, the marketing and PR teams go on a blackout for a day — often more — following particularly bad news like layoffs.
Meanwhile Xbox is spending the day promoting new ways to give them your money.
Agreed with everyone here, this isn't a great look. They need to go radio silent.
Platform built around sub program and not buying games. Closing of studios, same say noting ways for customers to buy more games…🫨
stop working on xbox folks. its ded. its like the last few days of the school year, you are there but no need to do anything. lmao.
Even though they're popular, eliminating any sort of live service games to be viewable like Fortnite, Roblox, Warzone etc etc on the storefront is something that could possibly lure people in to buy or subscribe to new games, it could create new popular games & communities and make other developers/publishers especially indie developer's some money instead of the same companies raking it in due to their system that never ends leading people to not know anything better that has created the turmoil of today in the gaming industry.
Some may disagree but ever since those line of products came on to the market all those years ago the industry has kind of gone tits up.
I'm not wasting any more money on Xbox.
Add a feature to help me find a better gaming platform.
