Late last week, we got the news that GTA 6 was aiming for a Fall 2025 release date following last year's debut trailer for the title, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has now put some extra weight behind that schedule.
Talking to CNBC about the company's recent financials — and that new GTA 6 launch window — Zelnick said that while there is release date "slippage" in the industry, the team is "highly confident" that it can hit the newly-announced window.
"Well, there is slippage in the industry, and we're not immune from that. However, we narrowed the timing because we are highly confident in that timing."
Of course, the game's actual release date will in time tell us whether Take-Two and Rockstar can stick to their current timeline, but history does suggest that delays could happen. Both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto 5 were delayed from their initial launch windows, so it's not uncommon for the team. Still, we're hoping that won't be the case with GTA 6!
While we're not quite as confident as Zelnick in this specific launch window, we are very confident that GTA 6 will turn out great. Our hype levels have only increased since last week's news and we can't wait to see more of the game in action between now and release.
