We're really counting down the hours now until the release of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, which officially arrives on Xbox and PC Game Pass this Tuesday, May 21st. In the meantime, we've also got a new trailer to take a look at!
This is the official launch trailer, which shows off Hellblade 2's stunning visuals to the tune of "Animal Soul" by AURORA. It's a beautiful trailer that's bound to get the hype levels rising, and fortunately it seems pretty much spoiler-free.
Take a look at the Hellblade 2 launch trailer above, and don't forget we've got plenty of great coverage about the game elsewhere on Pure Xbox, including a release times guide, a Hellblade 1 recap, and soon... a Hellblade 2 review.

Very excited
A little surprised we don’t have reviews already.
This is the one I've been waiting for but it better not suffer on the Series S. After my X bricked I couldn't afford the full whack again so bought an S - which is fine - so long as it handles this game acceptably 🤞
Edit: Saying all that I do have a PS5 so technically could wait for its release in about a year IF the S doesn't handle this game well enough.
I'll give it a quick go but won't be into it if it's like the last one found that boring and repetitive very overrated for me and a bit to depressing to play for my mind
Is it me or is there very little buzz about it?
Where are the reviews? Not good.
@SodaPop6548 same. I looked it up and I don't know how accurate it is, but it says review embargo lifts on launch day. Kind of strange
@StonyKL I wouldn't have high hopes for that id say the resolution will take a big hit hopefully it's at least 720p or over
Super pumped. Loved the first one and this one looks like it’s gonna be significantly better.
Im a little excited. I have it pre installed but I probably have lower expectations than most.
Launch day reviews isn't that strange for an xbox game. I think the review manipulation conspiracy is a little overstated.
Got it preloaded and ready to go. I can't wait. Wish I could skip work tbh.
@Lup Xbox is totally dropping the ball on marketing of this game. I think they are underestamating how hyped people who played the first one are. Maybe because the game is short? I dont know.
@SodaPop6548 Review embargo lifting on launch day is usually a terrible sign. I hope thats not the case because the first one was really good imo.
@BIG3 yh it's baffling to me how they don't market it.
A friend sent me that tweet of theirs where they mentioned starting the pr train but there have been so many chances for them to promote it and I haven't caught any of them.
Classic xbox I guess
not excited at all.
I think the review embargo is so people make up their own mind and don't listen to other people
Not too interested. I might give it a download for the visuals alone but the gameplay doesn't seem like my cup of tea and I hate the forced ultra-widescreen aspect-ratio.
Review embargo was supposedly to cut down on spoilers being posted about it. Not every embargo is a sign of a bad game.
@awp69 Ah. That makes sense. I usually go offline anyways about games I plan on playing until I got a playthrough done. Easier said than done sometimes. Lol.
On another note. I wish Xbox had a proper countdown for when a game launches like PS5 does.
@BIG3 I saw that they’re claiming the review embargo lifts tomorrow to avoid spoilers but given MS lately, I don’t know if I trust that or not. Hopefully that is accurate though.
Time will tell but to me it looks like a graphical showcase walking simulator and now and again you get to fight one on one with the baddies.
Not enough action for me and only about 7 hours long and that won’t all be game play.
So 1 years development for every 1 one hour of sort of play time.
7 years development, 7 hours sort of gameplay.
They should have gone instead of Hell blade 2.
A big AAA action game made over last 7 years that hell blade 2 as taken.
I’m not saying hell blade 2 won’t be great for some people. But some is the word here.
But Xbox needs mass appeal games if it wants to get more momentum, console and GP sales.
With massive PR and advertising and a physical release.
They should have started a new action game that could have had a sequel or even trilogy story, gaining mass appeal as each game releases with the masses begging for more.
I've just finished Star Wars Jedi Survivor today, bought the licence for Dolby Atmos, charged my headphones, pre-installed Hellblade 2 and I'll be playing some Forza until tomorrow. Happy gaming folks!
Will be interesting to see if the letter box rumours are true, or did that get confirmed?
Also only 30fps I believe.
The 30fps I can almost take, but letter box black bars top and bottom, come on.
Man... Everyone talking about the review embargos. I'm pissed that the game doesn't go live till 4AM EDT. I was hoping to get off work and play some. 4AM is when I'm just about ready to go to bed.
Wonder if this will be a make or break moment for Xbox depending if this game reviews well or poorly.
Marketing has been targeted at the gamers who would/should know about this game. Ninja Theory and Xbox have released videos leading up to this.
Once the Reviews are out and if 'Positive' enough, maybe then will use that for Big Ads costing money to attract people who still don't know its out. It's been talked about for years after it was part of the reveal trailer for Xbox Series X.
So I doubt many Gamers, especially Xbox gamers need massive Marketing, maybe a few months later, Xbox will use it and review scores as part of its 'overall' marketing to get people into Xbox/Game Pass...
@Banjoisfanboy 7 to 8 is ridiculous for a AAA game that cost $70+... This is sits more in the AA range and has a $50 price tag, so 7-8 hours is fine.
First game was pretty fun, but I can wait to play the sequel.
I'm not sure what the marketing fuss is about I have seen quite a bit for this game. More than I would expect for this type of game to be honest.
@BacklogBrad People were expecting MS to do a Sony level marketing campaign... Ads on bus, massive statues in the middle of nowhere, McDonald's happy meals... etc
It a $50 game with no physical edition... Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice had a nonexistence marketing campaign and did really well. This will do fine as well.
@Ver really? I didn't know that. I'm going to try your suggestion.
The Xbox gives me only 3 options: Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos and DTS, which one should I choose then?
Yeah, I do. I wasn't considering that one lol
I just did what you said, thank you!
